The gist of this talk seems to be "abandon the householder life to find Spirit." But where else would one go? "A monastery," seems to be the answer. Having been around the block a few times, I've noticed that monasteries and "spiritual communities" are by and large as full of, or more full of, melodrama as anywhere else. If only it were so easy to find a way out of life's unpleasant lilas, but it's not. C'est la vie. Whatever one's calling, the same wisdom must be found.
We are coming from a dark age where religious teaching got distorted. In the Christian teaching, in 325 AD the bible as we know it was put together by a bunch of men. They included some gospels and left others out. The result was an all powerful church which was the only way to salvation. The truth that was not taught was that the way to salvation was an inward journey available to all people regardless of religious affiliation. Many people have been taught that merely believing is enough.
