Well you can clearly tell from military budget of a country whether it wants protection or invasion. From chineese military expenditure point of view even a kid can tell they preparing for dmoinating and invasion if needed rather than defense. So I dun much agree with this guy.
Justawordaway: China's military spending is increasing in porportion to its rise to the world's No. 3 economy soon.
China's very peaceful country. The last time China invaded a foreign country for the purpose of occupying territory was Vietnan back in 1786 or 221 years ago. Yes, Tibet has been a part of China for 800 years.
actually, China did invade vietnam in more recent years, I believe it was in the 70's, besides the U.S./Vietnam war. Chinese also sent troops into North Korea.
In both cases China troops moved out of the country and let the local governments establish themselves, and in both cases US Army came over half earth to put in army to fight with Chinese army :) If you are saying putting army in the other country is invading it then US and China did the same.
China is simple they start war against any country weaker than themselves. If Taiwan, Japan or Vietnam was slightly weaker they would belong to China. China will wait and for USA the train will pass within 5 years. Then there will be no turning back. China has done absolutely everything right. When their purhase power is over 15 trillion usd.
You are thinking about things in way of cold war times. Nowadays no country can occupy another country's soil, not even US. e.g. war against Iraq, US troop has to retreat at one point. Chinese people and government has realized this long time ago. That's why they have shifted the "domination" focus from military to economic. Real war won't happen between 2 countries owning nuclear weapons, but the economic war will go on and become the new kind of competition.
He's absolutely right about the problems that have been deferred and the absolute need for political, economic, judicial, and other reforms. China might use an external conflict to focus attention away from the incompetency of the CCP but this could also open fissures wider. Mao could use his strategy of throwing waves of bodies at entrenched troops in Korea and Vietnam but that was before TV and the internet.
Entirely correct. China faces massive social, ethnic and economic issues (i.e. haves vs have-nots). The big question is: Is stability (the holy grail of the political world) best served with a stable China or an unstable China? Obviously a stable China, but how will China manage to accomplish this?
china does have an idealogy, confuscious.
