That was Frankie Warren at the beginning he was fighting. Warren used to be a beast but after this beating he was never the same. That's when NBC used to televise fights for free.
@BXMammal Yeah I know, and I know buddy could have done MUCH better later on in his career if it wasn't for that shoulder injury, I don't quite remember what he said in a interview i saw, it was like "my left is like a lexus now, it used to be like a lamborghini. It's still good, but not as good" still an awesome fighter though
Basically fought with one hand the latter part of his career. The shoulder injury prevented him from reaching his full potential and prevented him from having an even more stellar career.
I studied guys like McGirt, Taylor, Whitaker, Roger Mayweather Chavez as amateur and they were in their pro primes. And incorporated top-notch moves from them. Technicians like these are what keeps "old school" alive...
Yeah guys like that are really fun to watch and you could relly see how well they used their skills, they use some stuff in the ring that you can't see today. these guys were genius
And alot of these guys are not mentioned among the greats, exept for whitaker and Chavez, but mcgirt and taylor etc. are easy forgoten. but really they helped make boxing interesting in these times. And we got alot to thank them for... True boxing fans wont forget them.
Does anybody know, is he part-white? I'm asking coz his son looks more white than black. Buddy sr himself isn't exactly classical Afro man by looks either.
Awesome boxer was McGirt.Turing inot a legendart trainer too.Think it was the 2nd Gatti vs Ward fight. Gattis goes "My hand,my hand". McGirt peplies twice....."what you want me to do" ? Putting the onus on Gatti and knowing that Gatti, the warrior he is will not quit.Gatti replies "keep going". Great stuff!!
buddy you are an inspiratoin to all of us big heads. GOd bless you
