2 years last December 4th....R.I.P. Thank you for all that you gave us....your talent, endless energy,,,countless concerts, and just being a fine gentleman all around.
I was there that day. It's a good video, but I'll always remember each drop of rain landing like they were all placed in the moment in the middle of the singing and the fantastic rainbow that came. It was a very deep, beautiful and spiritual moment as though Liam was performing his final bit of theatre.
R.I.P. Liam you was one of the great balladears may your memory live long in our hearts you gave so much joy to many many hearts may your music be listened to till the sun has died, heaven must be waxing lyrical with luke ronnie and liam up in the heavens above.
I will miss my idol but he will live on in my heart forever... the music in heaven is even better now and I will look forward to seeing you and thank you for all that you gave us. Farewell to thee my idol, my inspiration, and my hero.
Im sorry for seeming...misunderstood. I plan on going to Ireland soon, and i would like to pay a visit to Mr. Clancy's grave. I google the two graveyards (the one in the beginning of the video, and the one in the description) and i cant find andything about either graveyard. What and where is the graveyard he is buried at? Thnak you
@BeyondEvil308 ....Hi, I posted the video and I'm glad to have had the opportunity to share the occasion with Liam's many friends and fans who could not be there. I found the following article which might interest you. Liam was buried at the New Cemetery, An Ring, County Waterford..its close to Dungarvan. Regards..JohnM.
I watch this and cry............ we were in carrick last year and paid our respect to the man. we also saw him the year before in dublin perform......... Thank you for sharing this
The soul of those who have suffered at the hands of evil grows beyond all measure, just as the souls of those who have committed great evils and deceits are wizened and blasted to hell.
Thank you Janette, it all happened so spontaneously and I was just lucky to be there and have my camera at hand. BTW (to ENYRB), the guy in the middle is a Clancy, Finbar, a nephew of Liam's and a son of Bobby's....he's now with The High Kings, continuing on a great tradition.
We are running out of talent Liam Luke Ronnie who is going to carry our musical traditions forward sure the young listen to another type of music it would be a shame if all future clans only have you tube to remind them of how it used to be, we may never see their like again it will rank as one of Ireland's greatest losses, memories of a distant past, makes life bearable listening to our folk music.. thanks for the post shame it was so so sad.. R.I.P liam you earnt it...
I met Liam Clancy and his brothers before Bobby died. Robbie O'Connell was with them after a concert they gave. They noticed our group because we were singing harmony to their songs in the front row. A gracious group of men. Bobby sang some old songs with my husband, Liam gave us CDs, signed my husband's guitar, Robbie was extremely friendly also. I count myself fortunate to have met them all.
I didn't know - it wasn't reported in Australia. At least I can give a dedication on air for the 1st anniversary ... Thank you Liam for all the fabulous songs
mr clancy. im an athiest. let that not hinder our friendship. i saw you in galway not long before your god took you....and if there's a hell, lets go there and speak of poets and those youve lamented about......hats off to you sir!.......sleep well.
i weaped in respect at the knowledg of liams death. his song parting glass always brings a tear to my eye. i lost my father to cancer dec 20 2007. i remember him and tom and liam when i hear that son god rest you all.(hoists beer in salute) slagnt.rest in peace lads you home now.
I am shocked to learn just now of Liam's death ! I must be dead myself not to have heard abot this ? . My parents loved his music and I have listened to The Clancy Brothers & Tommy Makem for 50 years !
liam clancy wat a legend.. i go 2 ur songs late at nite when i need 2 b reminded what can be achieved by just a normal fella from tipperary..tank you dearly... just sorry u mist us giving d cats a gud hiding
As a young person discovering the music of the Clancy brothers for the first time, thank you for posting this. May I ask what is the tune in the introduction?
I had not heard until just now that Liam is no longer with us. I am tearful, which is no mean feat for this old bugger. Vale, Liam. I treasure your memory and that amazing concert in Brisbane 1976.
Rip Liam Clancy. From a Newfoundlander, who loved you music. And Tommy Makem to. Newfoundland and Ireland have so much in common, it's unreal. God Bless. Thank you for the music.
Oh, what a shock to me to discover this 4 months after his death! Liam was one of my few living legends. RIP, Liam, you'll live forever in your lovely songs.
& imagine my shock at his funeral being on my birthday. I've now so much more to sorrow for as we've surely lost one of the great ambassadors of Celtic music.
one more time this old Scotsman is moved to tears by Liam Clancy ,who with his family and Tommy Makem were the High Kings of Ireland !! I was thrilled to hear them live in concert , and they are in my heart always, Albainn gu brath agus Eirinn gu brath
Of all the entertainers that have passed, I find it difficult to imagine Liam dead; He was so full of life; and never got off the stage so to speak. I had the privilage of meeting him and many times saw him perform as both solo artiste and with Tommy Makem, never agarn again will we see their like. thanks for the footage, it allows us that couldn't be there in person to witness the fine send off.
Hard to believe he's gone already a bit too soon. I luckily got the chance to see him once in the gaiety theater for the legends of irish folk concerts. He was great that night Ireland misses yeah Liam.
John, you went and got me to cry like a baby again. Not fair. You did a lovely job with this. Oh behalf of all the folks who couldn't be at the service, thank you.
@johnmgleeson I am not Irish except for maybe a smidgion but I can feel the love here . The world has lost a great singer and representative of a great country. Rest in Peace Mr. Liam Clancy!
