  • listening to this guy talk just makes me happy

  • Nice video... Check out my channel.

  • Wow, this really helped me.

  • @ArchOfficial Hey, check out my dubstep tracks.

  • 1:58 SWEET :3

  • alongside real hardware

  • see its dope, but not perfect, chase and status, eastern jam, what hardwares used? I'm sick of this software stuff it needs to be integrated alongside real hard with special unique drum and percussion samples to make something sound professional and unique... they probably have a MASSIVE RED version out but nobody gets to use it except for certain people/groups

  • thanx a million dude

  • at 3:10 your way is more organized at automating the filter but you can do it without the combinator button setup. all you need to do is automate the the arrow on the filter and switch the automation the highest (which is bypass). So it can be done.

  • Digital music making looks pretty cool and appealing. Wish I had time for it.

  • @mimikawaii7386 Hey check out my page.

  • fuck advertisements

  • Haha. Dubstep duck. Holy crap, if someone takes that idea and mixes an actualy quack into a song, I will instantly watch, like and share it on YouTube with permission. :D

  • @87Harm /watch?v=Rm3ylgPgi2c Towards the end of the video he gets lost and adds in random duck quacks to end the song.

  • Your earlier videos sounded a lot clearer on 480p, but this and the last one only have options for 240 and 360.

  • What program is this??

  • @OfficialPringles reason

  • Hi! im dave from boy in a ban- *stupid advertisement interrupts him* -__-

  • Fl studio tutorials?! Yes plz! :)

  • You my friend have a beautiful radio voice. Honestly im straight but dayum.

  • B!G THANKS

  • I want to make babies with you Dave!

  • @guypie ok

  • anyone else feel like after the bass drop it sounds like black sabbath - electric funeral? took me a while but i figured it out.

  • The video quality is horrible.... its 2011.

  • @vStylerJohnG it was 2009 when the video was made.

  • @kejihatake

LOL... that, my friend, is a valid retort.

Good luck with everything mate. :o)

  • @vStylerJohnG it's reason. the screen isn't that big to begin with.

  • @vStylerJohnG get over it. He probably spent a lot of time on this tutorial for us. And besides, does the image quality really matter?

  • this is reason 4? is it really so good? i mean im using fl studio because i dont give a shit what everybody say its a good DAW btw skream produced his famous first album on it... but im asking if there is a point to change fl to reason?

  • HI DAVE! :D

  • @kinglynx Dave's not here man!!

  • DUPPESTEPPE

  • @EliasOwnage95 ololololololololololol

  • where can i get this 320?

  • /watch?v=ZilCJxYGO_4&feature=channel_video_title

  • blocks makes this so much easier haha

  • Dave after I successfully made the Rotary make that kool noise the filter is still on...how do I by pass it without losing the beginning? and yes my static rate is at 0

  • dave thank you...just thank you

  • mine is made with logic, but i have watched most of your videos and used some of the techniques so lmk what you think

  • @TwiztidJuggalo04999 i forgot to do the drop in mine though -_-

  • sounds like FF7 In midgar

  • What is the software you used to make this?

Ive wanted to start making beats for a long time, if anyone has any suggestions on where to begin. Please feel free to throw it at me.

  • skrillex is better than rusko.

  • @mw2king89 ha ha ha that is a good joke. You cant put Rusko in the same category as Skrillex. Skrillex could make Rusko's tracks with a jar of pickles and a Blackberry.

  • @vicallen91 i know but im just stating a fact.

  • @vicallen91 lol true skrillex is a beast, so is rusko, but skrillex is better no matter what.

  • @mw2king89 No. Just no.

  • @mw2king89 rusko was one of the first along with caspa and skream.. also its about taste its music remember.

  • @vicallen91 probably the most perfect thing iv ever heard in my life

  • dubstePP

  • i still havent found a tutorial for some really heavy drops :/ ive got the whole song wrote i juss cant get the drop right.

  • like a duck! lmfao

  • I like the part when it goes Wub wub. wub wub wub wub wub wib wub wub wib wub wub wub. :D

  • i dont underdstand the triplets thing. it doesnt sound as fast for me and im doing the same notes as him with the same spaces and set to 1/16t!!! can anyone help me plzzzzz so frustrated

  • @kirkalicious09

    it could be your tempo!

  • Any idea how to do this with Garageband on a Mac? :)

  • use ableton !!!

  • What proqam is this?

  • @PincheePolloFoo The program is Reason 4

  • boyinaband, you should try to replicate the sounds used in Datsik's "Gecko" and make a tutorial about it. I'd shit my pants with happiness.

  • why do you talk so agy

  • quack quack basss

  • i want to do something a bit more complicated... but totally fricken sweet sounding!

  • does anybody know why, when i set the rotary 1 knob for the wobble 1 bass, it completely alters the sound so it sounds nothing like it did with filter 3 bypassed. is there something i'm doing wrong?

  • Hi Dave! I know you are a Reason user but I am doing a similar series in Ableton and it would be awesome if you could check it out and leave some feedback maybe. All the best! Eartrash

  • The best thing about watching your videos is not having to put up with an American accent :D thanks for these tutorials I love dubstep. If you have time could you check out my channel I have a few dubstep songs and some dance and techno as well maybe you could give me any criticism/pointers?

  • Why does his accent crack me up? LMAO

  • love your 7 day songs! is there a good way to edit the LFO Rate using automation? i routed it to rotary 2 and it works when i automate i only want the rate to be changed during the automation envelope, not permanently like it's currently doing

  • I use Fl studio my self but this has given me a few tips i can use, easily the clearest tutorial set on youtube, cheers :)

  • WEAK

  • lol at your mouse movement as you talk

  • 4:33 DUBSTEP DUCK

  • Really good quality tutorials, hope you're gonna do some ones like this, updated for Reason 5! Thank you!

  • 1:59 "Sweet!"

  • Comment removed

  • rly great tutorials. thank you!

  • Sweet! :D

  • Fantastic

  • Hey Dave. Ive noticed that the big part of dubstep that your missing is variation in the wobble - the crazy spastic wobble bass stuff. You sorta addressed it in this video by adding triplets around 6:45. Ive found that if you copy the wobble bass (so you have 2) and then change the wobble rate to 1/16 (and maybe a 3rd copy for 1/32) then you can mix the notes and it sounds real crazy.

..just what I was thinking (the only stuff I know about reason 4 is from you)

    Thanks for all these tutorials!

  • @davinfladager automate the 'rate' knob in LFO1. Should do the trick.

  • Comment removed

  • if you just right click on the filter Freq, or on any channel strip, fader, you can automate it through there

  • I got an add from a company called Siemens O_o

  • Thanks! It looks like good software.

  • The part at 6:52, that is what i live for... =)

  • whats the name of this software?

  • @ScorpioTone

    Reason 4.0 mate (:

Although, Reason 5.0 comes out soon :D (August 25th)

  • Totally freakin sweet sounding

  • skipp to. 0.01

  • nice

  • Hey you should start using fl studio too!

  • 5:25 Sounds like a damn transformer...

  • @KASEBROTFTW

i just had a Justin bieber ad :/

  • I usually automate with my midi controller, but in this case I'm trying to automate the LFO rate with the pencil, but when you zoom in on the automation track it shows the MIDI value rather than the rate. Is there anyway to see what midi value the rate nob is at when you are at a certain rate or vice versa? Thanks.

  • sounds like a duck part made me pmsl hard :D thx

  • "sweet!" xD

    gotta love this dude :D

  • learned quite a few things here :) thanks.

  • what program is that?

  • 'but also totally frickin sweet-sounding' xD

  • @siire lol i was just about to comment that exact thing until i saw yours =D

  • @twelfthmanau Haha it was awesome though xD

  • I agree with Iotictrance, this series has been a great help. Thanks so much!

  • Nice video , thankx for helping people ! ^_^

  • You have good stuff but damn your voice is annoying

  • Great tut thinking about posting my tune i made it from watching your's an rusko together, although i already right dubs just wanted to see what other peeps is doing.

Thank you keep posting. My tune will be done soon.

  • did you make this with rusko's - rats in the kitchen in mind? it has basically the same eurgh!!! and wobble style

  • @APH92 A lot of dubstep sounds the same. A lot of DJs just mix up other peoples beats.

  • Comment removed

  • @DoraggPvp yeh ino, but it has the same song structure n everythin, i might be wrong but they are VERY similar

  • where did u guys get reason?

  • I was gonna wait to the end to comment, but on the subject of other DAWs - You can use both ableton (Or others like cubase or pro tools) alongside by using reason in rewire mode as a plugin, either by VST or RTAS. Personally I almost always use Pro Tools or Cubase as well because it means I can record real audio on top rather than having to sample everything. Im sure it can be done in Reason SOMEHOW, but to anyone that doesnt wanna have to change from another, most have compatibility :)

  • Yea i use reason, another daw is handy. Definately, not just for audio rec's but VSTi.

  • so another comment by me.. what about checking out other DAWs? i am sure you would love ableton live 8 for it's pure simplicity and the operator synth. compared to reason ableton really is a piece of art in terms of user interface design and straight forward producing. of course your reason tutorials can be transfered to my ableton world quite nice, so thanks anyway :)

(please remember, this is not a reason hate post, i love the sounds that come out of this software ;) )

  • Ableton's good, but... It's not about how good something looks it's about the content. Ableton live's content is more for live performers not boring 48 hour music binges lol.

  • You are brilliant .. keep it up mate .. you make everything sound really easy :)

  • yea, he really does make it easy. bless

    (Benson and Tonic)

  • i cant get the state variable filter to do anything!!! i put t on and mess around with it but my sound doesn't change. i followed the tut word for word and im totally lost.

  • Man, I've been playing with Reason for about 2 1/2 years now and I gotta say this has been one of (if not the) most useful video series I've found yet. I've recently turned my attention to full-scale dubstep production, and while I had most of the ideas right a few things you point out over the course of these vids are really helping. Thanks man!

  • Great, :D

I've been using Reason for like 1 week now xD.

But i think these tutorials are the best!

  • nice one fella. I will give it a try in a second. Any more dubstep tutorials in the making at your end? we must have more to learn! Maybe some device tutorials?

  • Hello, using automation, can you fade a certain sound bite/clip up/down. Can't find out how to fade anywhere!!! Annoying me now!

  • Route the device through a line 6:2 mixer then automate the volume of that mixer :)

  • @wwwboyinabandcom or just automate your mastervolume of your thor via rotary

  • right click, i never automate by assigning channels. Right click, automate. hit the record button and move it with the mouse. Then touch it up after.

  • @compauk you can automate the samplers as well, so adding a mixer would be a waste of resources.

  • lol....Because I likes my tripletz xD that made me laugh.....thanks for the tuts man!!!!

  • when in the combinator control panel, you can hit 'F' to quickly jump down to the parameters that begin with F. just a time saver for you

  • The best part about posting these tutorials is when people like you save time for me haha :D Thanks so much!

  • @wwwboyinabandcom

'Aey, thanks for the tutorial mate. I had a question though. I've heard it other places, but I can't seem to figure it out. How do you vary the wobble on your bass. i.e. Speed the wobble up at the end of a bar Without actually cutting the bass into triplets. Do I have to automate the rate at which it wobbles?

  • @mafoo17 Friggin' Thank you!!!!!!!!!!1

  • @mafoo17 Friggin' Thank you!!!!!!!!!!

  • tight stuff again man, thanks!

  • Your tuts are Very clear and precise... thanks...

  • Sounds nice with the automation and fills!!

  • sweet video man :)
