The real tuning is open G (DGDGBD), you can play it using "reverse drop D" as some people call it (EADGBD) as you only really use the 4 thinest strings for this song (I never get if they should be called top or bottom)
the correct tuning for this is EADGBD, i call it reverse drop d.
as far as I know hes playing it wrong in some spots- but for the most part it sounds pretty close- i'd have to guess this was based on the STP version. Still, I'd bet you did this all by ear- sounds great and you've got really graceful technique- keep it up!
Are you people sure the tuning isn't D G D G B D? He does that for "Travelin' Riverside Blues." I've been trying to crack the code for this song for a few weeks now.
Studio SuperKing of spanking your monkey, why not post a video of your own exhaulted guitar skills and show us all how its done? This kinda shit only comes from non-musicians, without soul. Bad Karma man
hey I'm from Charlotte and i saw your vid and i was wondering what kind of acoustic guitar is the one you use in your vids. I'm wondering because i have my moms Conn acoustic from the 70's i beleive and ive tried doing some research to find info about it but i havnt found anything. It's the only guitar i've seen that has the square inlays on the fretboard
Great version. This is an arrangment of the song for one guitar so he's allowed to drop the slide! The original has about four guitars tracked on it! Played this well dude, I'm learning this myself in DGDGBD at the moment.
thats aweseomee dude wat tuning did u use wat tab or wat wereever u got that from it was awesome it sounded exactly like the stone temple pilots version on the tribute ecomiun er somthing like that anyway the real thing has a slide but that was awesome dude
Bitchin! Sounds great. Another dude on here was tuning DGDGBD which worked well but then I discovered if ya tune it GGDGBD it sounds even better, gives it that cool drone. Plus thats a good one for playing slide on. (In My Time Of Dyeing)

FOR ANYONE who is wondering;
the correct tuning according to the tab is E-A-D-G-B-D.
DistortedDingo 3 years ago
Is that out of the book? (I have it, but I'm too lazy to check) Because 99% of online tabs are incorrect.

It's an Open G tuning. You just tune the A down to a G though I suppose.
orlandofriend 5 years ago
More to open-tuning than lowering the A string to a G. It's DGDGBD in this song I think.
odgeUK 5 years ago
what kind of guitar is that? Gibson..
dennisfisher59 5 years ago
Great idea tuning the A string down to a G. I play in a zep tribute and I always did it the hard way. This video made my life a little easier.
