Okay, I've been seeing a large amount of people hating on Glee. Yes, we get it, no version can top the original, but Glee does have this power to bring its viewers to different styles of music. kd lang just so happened to be one of them. Point is it expands one's musical horizons to music to which they otherwise wouldn't have heard of. Yes, this is her song, but they covered it, meaning they had permission. I think they did it justice.
Sometimes I wonder if people who bash Glee never hear it or watch it, they just base their opinions on what others say. Being a fan of both Glee and 90% of the original songs they cover, most of the time the instrumentation and melody is 100% identical. This song is one of those. Why can't anyone just accept it? The real musicians do (and they like the covers themselves). I wonder what would have happened if the internet was around when Van Halen covered Orbison, Kinks, and Martha/Vandellas...
@GAThrawnIGF Or when Guns n Roses covered Paul McCartney, for that matter. Or Hendrix covering Dylan or GnR covering Hendrix. And the covers are all much more well known than the originals, but you don't see me whining about either one sucking. I appreciate both versions.
@GAThrawnIGF Songs are not sacred. If they weren't meant to be covered, there would be a prohibition on it by the artists. They certainly wouldn't ask (and sometimes beg) Glee to do their songs. And if it sucked, they certainly wouldn't ask to do multiple songs! Journey, Michael Jackson, Billy Joel, Queen, Fleetwood mac, Adele, Beatles, Rolling Stones, and Van Halen have ALL asked for multiple songs, among others, and they all liked it. And Prince asking for it means that Glee's songs are good.

@prue6967 i think it is great if you knew this song before glee...it is beautiful...but it's also great that/if glee makes it more popular, so more people listen to it...
