  • i love justin hayward.....

  • just fantastic

  • .....Rock On ...Justin.....

  • omg justin still has it . been with them for a long time sing on

  • the ultimate so underestimated

  • This song will echo through the ages. In my youth this song seemed to speak to me, saying, Stop! Consider the fragility of life, the hope of freedom, the fear of uncertainty and the yearning for immortality and someone with whom to share the rest of eternity. jordan1963baby.

  • This song will echo through the ages, detur gloria soli deo. In my youth this song seemed to speak to me, saying, Stop! Consider the fragility of life, the hope of freedom, the fear of uncertainty and the yearning for immortality and someone with whom to share the rest of eternity. jordan1963baby.

  • My mum well fancies Justin Hayward, and this is her fave song by him. I first discovered it when I heard the 'War Of The Worlds' album and quite liked it.

  • I know a lot of Moody Blues fans won't like me saying this, but this is the sort of format I enjoy hearing Justin's voice in best. I always heard him as a ballad singer more than a "rocker"- and this is very lovely.

  • JustinFan, I thank you for the info as I was not aware of this. Now, if I can only find the soundtrack for The Howling IV...LOL

  • Forever Autumn was recorded by someone else, first?? From which time/space continuum did you arrive, spacepatrolman??

  • @hankbat5149 Forever Autumn was written by Jeff Wayne, Paul Vigrass and Gary Osborne. The original melody was first used as a Lego commercial in 1969 and then the song was recorded by Vigrass and Osborne. This is the duo that spacepatrolman is trying to remember. Justin Hayward recorded it for the War of the Worlds album.

  • @hankbat5149 Forgot to add, this particular version in the video is from Justin's Classic Blue album from 1989.

  • nice...CREATIVITY ALIVE..ciA o

  • This song means more than any words. My brother passed away in September 1996, every time I hear this song I want to cry. Justin's voice conveys the sorrow I feel every time I think about it.

  • @hartmeg79 You're brother was very fortunate to have you love him and keep him in your heart where he lives on.

  • I Love Classic Blue Album xx

  • I just the saw the Moody blues 3 weeks ago and I wasn't sure how the were going to sound and his voice was just as strong as it ever was..Justin has one of the best singing voices out there and this song proves it...this is one of my favorites!!!!!!!!!!

  • War of the Worlds. One of the greatest concept LP's ever made. It was the first LP I ever owned and I played the guts out of it. Justin will always be associated with it. Sheer genius.

  • forever autumn-justin hayward one of the best ;-)) in my heart

  • (((O)))

  • Justin, you're the poet in my heart, "through Autumn's golden gown" and evermore.

  • Hard to believe I have had a crush on Justin for 40 years!! He just gets better while I, lets just say the years have not been as kind to me.... Justin contains too much talent for one mear human, I'm grateful to have experience a life-time of Moodies music.

  • @bucy1931 Yes !

  • Haunting and definitely transports you to another world and realm. You listen to this and everything seems to make sense. Justin is definitely an alien among us - so gifted.

Also saw Moodies in concert two weeks ago and - well, still dreaming about it. Join "Bring Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds to US/Canada on FB."

  • Just Adore Justin Hayward. He could recite names from a telephone book and I would Still to this day remain in his bliss.

    My childhood Major crush!

  • He's my 'old age' Major crush ! He and the Moodys are here on tour (3 -10) right now!---- Sure wish I could see them! Thanks, JustinFan, for the video. Magic Music - Sing On Justin !

  • @justdeepblue I went to see them a few weeks ago! They were so amazing, I swear Justin hasn't aged AT ALL! His voice is still the same and he does NOT look like he's in his 60s!

It was definitely the greatest experience of my life♥

  • one of the most hauntingly beautiful songs about love and loss ever written.Justin Hayward is amazing-------great post

  • Written by Jeff Wayne in the musical War of the Worlds, just beautiful

  • I love this band, have you guys heard?

Justin Hayward will be starring in The Musical Version of The Wars of The Worlds.

Have a look at the link: the war of the worlds . com

  • How does someone keep coming up with amazing songs for so many years? I can't get my head around it.

  • God he's so amazing......

  • Justin has the most amazing voice I have ever heard, bloody brilliant!

  • go Justin, you are great¡¡

  • @boybblue Yes he is..This is from War of the Worlds the play that Justin was in...It is on DVD...incredible performance...

  • Love this song, Love the Moody Blues.....seen them in concert 30 August ....truly awesome band!

  • I'm giving away a Moody Blues LP in a free competition.

It's called Every Good Boy Deserves Favour.

    Check my channel for details.

    -----

  • Justin is from a very very rare breed. He is real gentleman, his voice is breathtaking. It gives me shivers down the spine.

  • me too. very talented man.

  • I'm seeing these guys tonight. Hope he does this one!!!!!

  • There is no one quite like Justin Hayward, one of the most underrated singers of all. Sublime.

  • most amazing song ever wirten

  • went to see war of the worlds on sunday

best show i've ever been to

i was in the front row and i could see all the people who came out to sing

and justin actually smiled at me :D for once being twelve pays off :P

  • I get chills listening to Justin's voice. He is amazing.

  • Where did yhe years go?

I grew up with this music.

  • Such an incredible musian - such an incredible person...so much class and talent...thank you Justin for so many incredible memories....Paul

  • This song brings back memories of my childhood this song was overplayed on our piano in all my ballet classes but we loved dancing to something more modern than ancient mozart

  • this song is just soo beutiful and he doing his best to sing it I beleve that to all the song of moody blues i think everybody must to learn to get the music in the right way we belong to the music life is not the music belong to us thats the different cose the music come before us is beind us and is eternal Daniel

  • Justin has a fantastic voice. A real singer not like many performers today.

  • Incredible! I just love his voice and always have.......

  • I love this song, although this overly-orchestrated arrangement isn't the best. Justin's voice is in fine form, though. Lost love is tricky stuff--we never truly get over things that happen in the past, even if we move on. I have found the love of my life, but watched more than once as someone I wanted to spend my life with moved away. Well, a beautiful song, and my best wishes go out to everyone posting here--may you all find what you seek in life and in love.

  • Such a haunting melody, Justin's voice is 10+ perfect for this. An amazing song made better by this man.

  • Justin has a unique voice. A real singer not like the hyped up singers of today!

  • The man I let go was the man singing this song--when we were both very young. I feel sick just thinking about it now. I look at him and think--if only.

  • A simply beautiful song.

    Both musically & vocally perfect.

I'd have loved to hear it sung by Karen Carpenter.

  • I have a buddy here in Utica who is a KC fan and plays her music a lot and I have become familiar with her vocal qualities..and yes, you are right to hink it would be a good song for her. Too bad that won't work..but.. how abiout a duet with Justin taking a male harmony or complmentary melody on a Karen Carpenter song and do it up like the Natalie and Nat King Cole duets?\

    Tom in Utica NY

  • GGREAT SONG //////FOREVER

  • Simply Beautiful!!! 5*s I enjoyed this song very much...Thanks...Anita

  • Great song from a great album. They didn't do it any service with the choppy edit to make it a single, though...

  • Justin Hayward is an amazing singer.

  • The best song from Justin.

  • You can hear this song on" The War of The Worlds" narrated by Richard Burton For which this song and others were written. All sung by Justin. A fantastic journey.

  • Gorgeous!

  • Its 30 years old, its as good today as it was then; When work is good it will last. Do good work is the message I guess.

  • i was named after him.

  • Amazing man-amazing voice. I have always loved Justin and John and the Moody Blues. Long live the Moody Blues.

  • tamisyn, how precious!! I too, loved this song. It haunted me for 30 yrs! My 1st love ripped my heart out right b4 this came out! I would go skating, and would cry so badly, but I found out 29 yrs after that, that he was a total loser!! Wish I'd talked to him b4 29 yrs~it sure would've made my heart and life a lot easier!! I'm so happy for you! God bless!!

  • oh dear god. I have a similar story. I met "the one" in 1978 and he turned me onto this song. He went back across the pond, we lost contact. I always think of him when I hear this.

  • maryquant: something very similar happened to me. I met The One through the man I was dating at the time - he was a friend of my boyfriend.

10 years of a clandestine affair, and then I moved out of state and we've lost contact...

But my One re-introduced me to Moodies music, and in particular to this track, which I'd never heard before.

I always think of him when I hear it.

  • Chica: thanks for your story. An update on mine: I found THE ONE online in 2007 and sent him an email. He was eating breakfast when he opened my email and almost choked. He is a million miles away but comes my way on business twice a year. We are still trying to connect, looks like it may be August of this year. He's still gorgeous. God help me.

  • Mary: if you can get to him, don't let him get away. Don't make the mistake we made.

  • I have often wondered if the song's lyrics were trying to tell me something, like, what was about to happen....

Like the SUN through the trees you came to love me

Like a leaf on the breeze you blew away

One day in 2007 I was at an art gallery and saw a drawing that had significance to us. I swear I heard someone say "find him" and so I did.

The story is ongoing. I am hanging in there.

  • classic voine un mistakeable ..why my life hasent turned out normal ..sad for me coz reminds me when i was a young boy .life is hard

  • My life turned out also not normal, I recognize your sadness about it, but we are not the only one I guess, the music gave me always a kind of peace.

  • this was my now husband and I's fave song back in 1979-80. We named our first daughter autumn, because of this beautiful song.

  • This is Gold!!! didin't ya know? A whole classic of music... Mankind Patrimony... over...

  • world class song sung by the only man who could sing it awsome

  • this is about the song!! not the singer this is a masterpiece wonderfl lyrics heart rendering words true poetry

  • No one else's voice could do this sonf. I had to be Justin!!!

  • I really like this song. Especially the melody is very catching. ♥

  • this song is from the war of the worlds soundtrack composed by genious jeff wayne, i prefer original version instead of this cropped one

  • How can you not love Justin Hayward? Haunting melody! Yearning of lost love.

  • Bravo! Bravo! A flawless performance. The man is a marvel, madrigals be damned!

  • gegan, I'm so sorry for you loss.

  • His voice would do well match with Marta Kubisova from Czech.

  • One of the greatest voices of all time. When I first got this song on CD I think I played it 20 times in a row. Awesome.

  • Just got back from seeing them in concert in Nashville at the Ryman Auditorium. Lovely.

  • What a treat-my favorite voice of all time!

    All with his beloved orchestra...

Love seeing him, unrehearsed, so to speak.

    love it!

  • Gegan4. god bless.

this is the song i want played at my funeral.

  • I want to dedicate this lovely song to my best friend, Maureen, who died at the start of Autumn 2007. My life will be Forever Autumn since she left. Rest in peace my lovely friend. g.

  • My condolences xx

  • What a lovely song to give tribute to your friend Maureen. She must been very special!

  • I am so sorry to hear about Maureen. It reminds me a lot of a close friend I lost August 2007. Heartbreaking.

  • Y'all need to get his "Live in San Juan Capistrano DVD.....it's great....if you want to cry, listen to "Broken Dream."

  • This is my fav song of ALL TIME!

  • DAMN NEAR MADE ME CRY!!

  • Saw them March 17th, fantastic as always!

  • Aaaah, love love love . . . just saw the sweetface in concert tonight and can't get him out of my mind. I imagined he followed me home . . . oops, gotta go -- someone's at the door ;-)

  • Going to see em tonight...AMEN!

  • The London Philharmonic Orchestra is great.

  • awesome song that takes me back to a beautiful time of my life. Thanks for posting this!

  • Breathtaking and transporting. I want this played at my funeral.

  • smokiebird...if you lost jenny , and she is alive,,,, life is strange, you might be together in the autumn of your lives.....

  • Smokiebird.........what happened to Jenny ?

  • This song is part of Jeff Wayne's "War of the Worlds" CD and it was performed live with various artists including Justin at least once I believe in London. Based on H.G. Wells' novel. Justin recorded the song for the CD in '77 or '78. Much beloved by all Moodies fans. I actually love the recorded version with Richard Burton's voiceovers.

This is a great, live version. Seen the Moodies over 50 times, first got into them in 1967. :-)

  • The Moody's always take you on a journey.

  • This song reminds me of a lady I loved more than breathing. I lost her, and I've never breathed again. I will miss you forever, Jenny.

  • @smokiebird06

know exactly how you feel. i miss the girl who i sung this song too.... forever be autumn with out her.......

  • @smokiebird06

hi, saw your comment on Justin Hayward's forever autumn. I also dedicate this song to my darling best friend Maureen who left us in August 2007. She was wonderful. I miss my friend every day since, and will continue to do so, but i know she is still watching over me.

Hope the pain eased for you a bit since.

  • @gegan4 some body else recorded this song first it was a duo not seals and crofts some unknown duo their picture is on ther original sheet music then it was reisuued with hayward holding his guitar upside down in the picture

  • @smokiebird06 What a profound thing to say! very touching.

  • Sad song but a very beautiful song!

  • great string arrangements :o) thanks

  • thank you for posting this beautiful song!

  • Mmmmmmmmmmm. A great song sung by a great artist.

  • Loved this video and to a great song. Kyle you have done a great job. What mark did you get.

  • Thank you so much for posting this. I am the world's biggest Moodies and Justin fan. And this happens to be my favorite song. YUUMMM Justin is so handsome and talented.I know Justin loves me- he just doesn't know it yet.

  • I was about 14 or 15 when I first heard this

song..never knew the title and it haunted me

for a while, trying to locate the song and the singer..lo and behold, Finally I discovered who sang it !! God bless you Justin! So Gifted !!! XOXO

  • His voice is impressive.

  • this reminds us we are all only on loan from god and he can take us back anytime he wants

  • what year is this?

  • 1989 :-)

  • This song reminds me of WAR OF THE WORLDS...duh!!

  • Arden, I know that i post a lot to you.

But this is nearly to much, all my youth and nostalgic lies in the hand og Justin Hayward and ofcourse Moody Blues. Please dont change your way of beeing. The world need this.!!!

  • omg this song is sooo good made war of the worlds amazing too!

  • This song means so much to me. In the fall of 1981, my younger brother Matt, died in a car accident in Colorado. No other song could explain how I felt. My sister called me at work and told me. I called WBCN in Boston and requested this song, and they played it. I will always love this song, maybe someday I will hear it performed live. Every time I have seen the Moody Blues they did not do it. Someday........

  • I saw them in concert 7 or 8 times, and they never played it. I think that (1) Justin performed it without the Moody Blues and (2) It's a sad one. On that note - Sorry about your brother.

  • Thank you.

  • My heart is with you....

  • thank you so much

  • sorry about your brother... as you should know it is in war of the worlds. in the uk and austrailia they have a live tour with justin hayward singing forever autumn. this always reminds me of my best friend who died due to an illness a few years ago...

  • I am sorry to hear of you friend, also. Thanks

  • My favorite version of one of my favorite songs. Gets you right THERE.

  • Saw Justin sing this at Birmingham NEC last Friday in War of the Worlds. Still a consummate performer and a perfect evening.

  • this was played at ashley stephens (the fireman who was killed in the warehouse blaze) and now every time i hear this song it makes me cry cause all i can remember is the coffin being carried by my fellow fireman friends! i am a young fighter and knew ashley very well i miss him like mad!!!:(:(:(:(

  • This version appears on Justin's solo album Classic Blue with the London Philharmonic Orchestra. He also performs a haunting duet of Scarborough Fair with a talented female vocalist. Yes, it is beautiful.

  • This song was played at my friends funeral ... i get goosebumps every time i hear it ... lovely song though.

  • this is my all time favourite it's an absolute classic just listen to richard burtons words on the album war of the worlds BRILLIANT!!

  • I agree, it's a lovely song. it was always my favourite on the album. BRILLIANT!!!

  • Great with the Orchestra,..It haunted me for years when it wasnt available in an album in the USA then.

  • i remember stopping and listening to this on my next door neighbours radio. (top 40 sunday evening 1978). i was 8 yrs old and could distinctly recognise a true classic. i love all sorts of music but this is my favourite.

  • wow, everything out of his mouth is gorgeous

  • This Song with this voice started me following

one of the true joys in my life - Justin Hayward and the Moody Blues.Since 1978 I bought all the 8 tracks, all the cassettes, all the records, all the cds, all the DVDs, saw them live 17 times

  • Absolutely haunting! Love Justin - it's his signature song.

  • My first ever 45 disc was this.. the woman behind the counter had to play a few tracks before the one i wanted...memories

  • An exquisite rendition of this lovely song!!!

  • ic been looking for this song since i heard it in the flight of dragons wooo i love this song

  • Hey Justinfan, He's my favorite Musician too, I've been listening to Him and The Moodies Since 1971, Great Job Bro, Pickman52!!, Keep Up the Good Work!!

  • Brilliant version of a brilliant song.

  • Remember first hearing this when I was about 10 years old and my Dad was listening to Jeff Wayne's War of The Worlds album. Fell in love with it then and is still held dear in my heart and forever will be.

  • this is cool

  • I loved both Richard Burton and Justin Hayward so when this song came out, it was like some sort of gift directly from heaven. I could NOT get over my luck!

  • I first heard this song back in 1994 when I started university. What a fantastic song! Brings back some memories. Super stuff!

  • This song came out the year I lost my first girlfriend to a car accident- I was 14 then and to this day cannot hear this song without tearing up. God bless you, Jennifer......

  • First heard this song on the Best of the Moody Blues CD and fell in love with it. Thanks so much for posting.

  • so touching! this song and justin have aged gracefully

  • Hi inwood, Yes, very much so...
