What a sack of shit... if he doesn't end up being the things Cenk predicted, he's certainly set up to join that fraud Evan Bayh as a "democratic strategist" on Fox News and pretend to add some more "balance" to their propaganda. Good riddance and don't let the door hit you on the way out.
The closest we have to a radical left is Bernie Sanders, who proposed a balanced budget that would actually work, and a number of policies that would unravel the most radical right wing fascist actions of the past 30 years. Which isn't very radical left.
In this country, we have:
Republicans - Right Wing Fascists.
Democrats - Right Wing Republicans
Libertarians - Right Wing Anarchists
and a COUPLE of Progressives - Actual political moderates.
Am.. I the only one here who feels like I just watched the orville redenbacher commercial with the old man when he's dead and they are computer animating him? Ben Nelson looked FAKE like bad CGI fake on that first clip. Maybe he's dead and the video is made to cover it up- he's "retired" now? spending "more time with his family"? #CREEPY
Cenk you forgot Ben Nelson is responsible for Samual Alito and Justice Roberts. Ben Nelson is the wrost of the worst, he is a Republican in Democratic clothing... Ben Nelson is today's Zell Miller. Even Zell Miller had more character then this low life. He then took Democratic money and dropped his retired after Democrat can run for his spot. Ben Nelson, the reason people stop voting. Mr. Nelso Shame on you and I hope the history books will agree with me.
A Democrat retiring from Congress is rare event, and always a good thing. Usually the way way they leave is in handcuffs, or feet first, after dying of old age.
Incredibly biased. Fact: Health Care reform would not have passed if it weren't for Ben Nelson's vote. Fact: a progressive Nancy Peliosi democrat would have ZERO chance of winning and holding a senate seat for Nebraska. Fact: It is a tragedy that Ben Nelson is leaving because chances are good we're going to loose that seat to the republicans now. Fact: The reason the democrats gave him money is because they wanted to encourage him to stay because as I said before he's probably that only dem...
@Yewon2001 You don't need to run a Republican lite in a state like Nebraska to win. Conservatives aren't going to vote for him anyway and Democrats aren't going to enthusiastically turn out for him and the other half of the state doesn't vote. Besides, the Republican is going to claim he's a hard core lefty ANYWAY so why not run one that can define what that is and how it's better for Nebraska than deny it and run away from it?
High school teacher? Him? Seriously one of my favourite high school teacher is much more intelligent than all politicians combined. Like Cenk would say Off Cooourse!!
Nelson is retiring "to spend more time with [his] family?" I anticipate criminal charges being brought against Nelson in the next 2 months. Have a nice time in Club Fed, Slappy.
ben nelson, what a joke. a neo-conservative state like nebraska with 12 people in it deciding the health of 350 million americans. the u.s. senate is a pompous useless ponzi scheme for wall street and ben nelson was one of their biggest whores.
And the radical left does exist. They are all those anti-military morons who would rather support Bradley Manning and Julian Assange than support the U.S. military and our country. The radical left is real, and quite harmful.
@armyveteran101st any 'armyveteran' tht is NOT anti-military is a brain dead, ignorant moron who has no clue that hes been OWNED by the whores in the military-industrial complex and the greedy fucking war profiteers that enrich themselves off the death of poor 'soldiers' sent to fight for their corporate whoring...asshole
@oneirishpoet Right. You must be one of those far left little bitches who hate their country and its military. Do us all a favor and go fuck yourself, clown. If I want to hear from an asshole I'll squeeze out a little fart, but you can go sit on it...SHIT STAIN.
@SpitfireOFatj And you are a disgrace to the concept of rational thought. It would behoove you to get your head out of your ass long enough to find out who you are attacking and why, turd. Fuck off.
@SpitfireOFatj Of course they were! The Iraq war was nothing but a monumental strategic fuck-up that killed 4500 American troops unnecessarily. There were no WMD's, Saddam Hussein did not represent an existential threat to the U.S., and he was pretty well contained by the sanctions and the no-fly zone. The Iraq war never should have taken place, and it represents a black stain in U.S. history. If somehow you think that I was in favor of it, you could not be more wrong.
@armyveteran101st well from my experience most idiots who are stupid enough to join the military for a *career* are pretty much brain dead morons so take your cowardly little SHIT STAINED opinions and shove them up your taxpayer supported, welfare whore ass (and ain't it funny how you *veterans* continue to suck off the govt tit for the rest of your life while spewing garbage about how you HATE the govt, hypocritical asshole)
@oneirishpoet LOL, obviously one of our Nation's finest fucked your mother up the ass at some point, and that's why you hate us. No offense taken! I understand how that might make you feel embarrassed and conflicted. Your inferiority complex suits you, since you are nothing but an envious, useless, mentally-retarded piece of shit. Any veteran or Soldier is worth 1000 times more than you will ever be on your best day, turd. Go crawl back into the sewer you slithered out of.
@armyveteran101st Newsflash: Republicans do NOT support the troops. Never have. They were the ones that fought against treatment for Agent Orange, Gulf War Syndrome, combat pay, troop rotation, body armor, VA Benefits, and they closed schools on base forcing families to take their kids off base. They issued emergency discharges for fatally wounded soldiers so they would die as civilians and deny their families survivor's pay.
@SpitfireOFatj Your attempt at character assassination notwithstanding, I could not agree with you more, and that is why I rail against Republicans the way I do, among other things. If my being independently-minded and capable of political self-determination makes you think I am a disgrace to the Screaming Eagles, so be it. I couldn't give two fucks about what you or anyone else thinks. I know who I am and what I've done, and that's good enough. Now go fuck yourself and STFU.
So do I. You have posted crap on YouTube about the "Radical Left" and as an example you site two people that exposed agendas the government is trying to keep secret not from the "enemy" but from it's own people.
Pesky thing, isn't it....the fact that on paper the People own this country,...not the Politicians and certainly not the Brass at the Pentagon.
@SpitfireOFatj Manning betrayed his Oath as a Soldier and committed treason in time of war, plain and simple. Anyone who supports that is an un-American radical that ought to be prosecuted for aiding and abetting a traitor. Manning could have gone about blowing the whistle in many legitimate ways that didn't involve committing treason, but he chose to do that anyway, all for some stupid notion about the gov't being against the people. That's how I see it, and he ought to hang.
@armyveteran101st Manning is a whistleblower and should be granted protection. It would be like prosecuting Ronald Ridenhour for exposing the My lai Massacre.
@SpitfireOFatj Apples and oranges, chief. Ridenhour went about shedding light on the My Lai incident the right way. He didn't betray his country and his Oath by providing secret info to foreign nationals that actively conspired against the U.S. Manning could have done something similar to what Ridenhour did by availing himself of internal Army mechanisms that exist for that precise purpose, (the I.G.). Assange committed crimes against the U.S. because Manning enabled him to do so.
@armyveteran101st Look what happened to the ORIGINAL report of My lai. It went through the way you advocate and was covered up. It wasn't until Ridenhour went outside the chain of command and it's internal propaganda machine that it got some action.
At the time he was called a traitor too.
The only reason Manning is in trouble is because his Oath includes obeying orders. Officers don't have that in their Oath so they can use their brains.
@SpitfireOFatj Still, he didn't go to a foreign entity to reveal secrets. He kept it all within the country, so he didn't really do anything treasonous. I don't know why that seems so hard for you to understand. And the Oath is exactly the same for enlisted personnel and officers. You're believing the bullshit that says that Soldiers can't think for themselves, and you are wrong as wrong can be. Inform yourself better and don't fall for the stupid stereotypes, OK?
@armyveteran101st "the Oath is exactly the same for enlisted personnel and officers."
No it's NOT. The Officers Oath doesn't include the part about following orders from The President or Officers appointed over them. It says, "I will bear true faith and allegiance to the (Constitution); that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion."
Manning violated his Oath but it wouldn't have been a crime if he had been an officer.
@SpitfireOFatj That minute difference is irrelevant to the argument you are trying to make in favor of Manning. The authority passed on from the President to commissioned officers is reflected by the word difference, and that's how it should be. Now, if you're trying to say that having no mental reservations or purpose of evasion is the same as not being able to think for one self, you need to get your head out of your ass ASAP. The fact is that Manning violated the law, period.
@armyveteran101st "That minute difference is irrelevant to the argument you are trying to make in favor of Manning."
Wrong. My argument is over a crisis of conscience. If you saw the truth and knew the government was lying it would be a matter of honor to reveal it. Especially if the lies were directed not an an enemy but at the folks back home. They described one event as a military victory when it was actually the slaughter of innocent civilians including women and children.
@SpitfireOFatj If you saw "the truth", (whatever that means), and wanted to do something about it while you are a uniformed member of the U.S. military, the responsible thing would be to follow the mechanisms that have been set up by the military to do so, which are many. Manning did just the opposite and broke the law and his Oath as a Soldier, (which means nothing to you, since you've never served). And I don't know what event you are referring to. Be specific and clear, please.
@armyveteran101st "Manning did just the opposite and broke the law and his Oath as a Soldier, (which means nothing to you, since you've never served)"
Your arrogance is showing again.
@armyveteran101st "And I don't know what event you are referring to. Be specific and clear, please."
@SpitfireOFatj What arrogance? Your attitude reveals nothing but contempt for the U.S. military and people like me who have served in it. Stating that is not arrogant. Again, your zeal and your extreme level of ideology cloud your judgment, pal.
@armyveteran101st "Your attitude reveals nothing but contempt for the U.S. military and people like me who have served in it."
Why? Because I call you out for attacking Liberals?
This may shock you but anti-war protester even during Vietnam supported the troops and wanted to bring them home. Hell, a lot of the troops back then were friends who had been drafted. The stereotype of hippies spiting on soldiers was a myth put out by the Right Wing.
@SpitfireOFatj I don't attack liberals, because I hold many liberal points of view. I attack retrograde fanatical far-left goons like you, who refuse to see reality as it is and are far from being reasonable. As for how the Left treated Soldiers coming back from Vietnam, you may be right to a small extent, but the historical evidence says otherwise. Whether drafted or not, they deserved respect that they never got. And the spitting on Soldiers in uniform was VERY real.
@armyveteran101st Wrong again. The historical fact is that hippies didn't spit on returning soldiers from Vietnam. There was a MOVIE where such an act was portrayed but there was never an actual incident. People have combed news accounts of the period and have found ZERO evidence of it ever occurring in reality. What DID happen was the stereotype of the "flashback" vet who would think he was in the jungle and flip out. This prevented a lot of vets from being hired.
@armyveteran101st What are you talking about? Do you have a clue how many people came back from Vietnam and JOINED the hippies? I suppose those vets were also spitting on their former allies? Please, please.
@DarkSunGod I'm sure there were many, but the fact is that the vast majority of returning Vietnam vets didn't get the respect or the support they deserved and needed. I'm not interested in wasting time arguing about what percentage of them were spat upon, but I can't let people get by saying that it didn't happen at all, because it did. Even now many far left goons here on YT go out of their way to demean my military service only because they disagree with me. The attitude is there.
@armyveteran101st The VAST MAJORITY? What basis do you have for that? It certainly is a strange conspiracy that would make Stalin jealous, if in these "vast majority" of cases not a single photograph has ever appeared.
The great irony, is that even though you "aren't interested in the percent", you see no problem at all in claiming it was above 50%. What basis do you have for this? Actually, screw 50%; that's the slimmest minority. You say "vast" majority. So we're talking about like 75%. A lie
@DarkSunGod Like I said, I'm not interested in wasting time arguing about inconsequential minutiae, particularly because it is obvious that you have decided to believe your own set of factoids instead of believing actual facts. I have better things to do.
@armyveteran101st But you never cited an "actual fact". I mean, I will change my mind if you show me any recorded instances. But its not like you showed me overwhelming evidence and I refused to believe it. All you did was share your own personal experience.
@SpitfireOFatj Wiki what guy? And why would I go to Wikipedia for anything, considering the fact that anyone can go in there and alter information at their leisure? I sure hope you don't consider Wikipedia a trustworthy source of information. As for the video, if you're not in the military and you don't understand ROE's and what it means to serve in a combat zone, I can see how it would seem criminal, but nothing criminal took place there according to the law of warfare.
@armyveteran101st "nothing criminal took place there according to the law of warfare."
Bullshit. They targeted civilians who attempted to render aid and ran over bodies. I suppose we should just toss out violations of international agreements we've signed onto. Like Bush said of the Constitution, "It's just a goddamn piece of paper".
I mean, who cares what the world thinks anyway? They're all inferior to us. If they don't like it they can be our next target.
@SpitfireOFatj Right, your own version of reality. You have decided that you will only accept and believe what you want to accept and believe, regardless of whether it's true or not. Having a reasonable debate with someone like you is an impossibility. I hate Bush too, and I think he is the worst president we've ever had, but you're so bent on picking a fight that you don't listen to anything. Calm the fuck down and take a breath, chief. I am done with your intransigence.
Here's reality. The US Military maintains over 700 bases around the planet. Some are little more than luxury golf courses in tropical locations where Generals can fly in with a Lear Jet paid for with tax dollars. The Pentagon considers the closing of ANY base to be a defeat.
Meanwhile, the Navy still maintains a sub fleet that's playing cat and mouse war games against non existent Soviet subs.
SpitfireOFatj, while the Whistleblower Protection Act didn't exist yet, Ronald Ridenhour followed the policy that would later be created by the military version it. He reported what was a problem, and he reported it to IG and congress.
Manning on the other hand tossed reports related and unrelated to the problem he saw out into public view.
Thus Ronald Ridenhour has an award named after him, and Manning is being prosecuted for espionage.
@JustAnotherMutant The government has already admitted nothing he released was harmful. Some of it was embarrassing to diplomats but not harmful. The massacres he exposed were already known. There just wasn't video to go along with it.
SpitfireOFatj, and he knew this how, since he released the documents without reviewing them? He didn't stop at that video, but continued on for another quarter million documents.
And actually I don't think they have admitted nothing was harmful, but rather that they haven't specifically traced harm back to it yet. That's rather a different claim, and does not absolve Manning of his gross negligence.
@SpitfireOFatj And you believe what Manning said in order to cover his ass? If that's so, I have a nice bridge by the bay in Kansas that I can sell you real cheap. The fact is that you won't admit that Manning committed a crime against his country, because you have made up your mind to embrace some bullshit romantic notion of idealism that has nothing to do with reality. You need to get your head out of your ass and start smelling the coffee.
@SpitfireOFatj I get that you are very, VERY liberal, and even though I am in the political center, I do lean to the left in regards to many issues. The problem is that you are letting your ideology blind you. I get the feeling you are one of those far-left people that hate the military and everything connected with it, and you have the right to be that way. However, that extreme attitude takes credibility away from everything you say and makes you seem uninformed and dumb.
@armyveteran101st "I get the feeling you are one of those far-left people that hate the military and everything connected with it,"
LOL!!! You sure are wrong there! My grandfather was in the 10th armored division during the Battle of the Bulge. I still have the flag folded from his military funeral years later. I don't have a problem with the lower ranks. It's the Brass in the Pentagon I have a problem with. Some are only Generals because they scored a contract for a toy.
SpitfireOFatj, citation please. Who in the government admitted that nothing was harmful, and where? Was this after all documents had been reviewed?
His not selling the data does not absolve him of the fact that he released it without reviewing the data. He didn't release a small number of specific incidents, he downloaded what he could and did a mass release of unreviewed material. That makes him a criminal, not a hero.
@JustAnotherMutant "citation please. Who in the government admitted that nothing was harmful, and where? Was this after all documents had been reviewed?"
Yes. The State Department said it. Also, the documents he released led to the Arab Spring as the people of Tunisia rose up after released cables revealed their government's corruption, the cables also led to the end of the Iraq War when immunity was no longer granted for war crimes by US troops.
@SpitfireOFatj Wrong again. Manning actually exposed the identities of both American covert agents abroad and their sources and helpers. And, even if he had just exposed a grocery list, the fact is that the information he exposed was classified. He had a sworn duty to protect it and betrayed that obligation when he gave the info to a foreign national that was conspiring against the U.S. I don't know what your age and education level are, but this is not that hard to understand.
Good Riddance indeed! This asshole Nelson should have switched parties a long time ago, because he has no business calling himself even a conservative Democrat. I am centrist Democrat and I was always infuriated by the bullshit this moron Nelson pulled time and again. Why the Democratic leadership didn't pressure him to toe the line more forcefully is beyond me. I just hope some asshole Republican doesn't take his place in the U.S. Senate.
I think there might be more of a backlash against politicians in the near future than people realize. Surely , Nelson's voting record makes him a target for that backlash.
It gets me how many people on YouTube still act like the Cold War is going on and they are warriors against the "Red Menace". They believe Capitalism is what built civilization itself and any other system leads to it's destruction. To top it off, they act like the whole world outside of America has gone "commie" and we are the last hope for humanity.
Then they will claim Reagan won the Cold War despite the rest of the world going "commie".
@SpitfireOFatj free market is what happens when you have two groups of people alone from govt...it needs no help from the govt...well until the govt junkies invented the term..."Fair" and "Equal"...which is impossible like counting to infinite and reaching infinite...
The government is needed to maintain the 'freeness' of the free market. For a free market to work, it must maintain its competitive nature and that everyone is on a level playing field. Adam Smith, the free market theorist knew this and has said the government is responsible to sustain big monopolies, cartels, and trusts. Hence why most first world countries would have a consumer and competition protection bureau, anti-trust laws etc.
Ben Nelson was/is a fucking crook just like every other politician. Our government is so corrupt and broken with all of these old establishment guys selling our rights behind our backs. I get the sense that people are getting so fed up with the government that there are only a few ways out of this: Either set term limits on Senators and Representatives, Supreme Court judges, and anyone who is involved in the government, or... we're gonna have a 2nd Civil War. I fear the 2nd civil war is nearing.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
This is more evidence that the Democrat Party is morphing into the Socialist - Marxist party. At least their going to start being honest about what they believe and hopefully they'll start getting the 23% of the vote that they richly deserve.
our huge national debt has a redeeming quality,..there will be less and less monies available to Dem politicians with which to buy votes from poorer Americans and minorities
@genie0390 President Obama is getting a 1.2 Trillion dollar raise in the dept ceiling, that's a lot of buying power. The Dems may be a dying party but the Socialists - Marxists are alive and well. That's who are writing the majority of the posts here on TYT. Liberalism and Progressivism are just gateways to Socialism - Marxism.
No they're not. If you read up your history well, almost all communist/socialist dictators have been against liberalism and progressivism, and see it as betrayal of the 'far left'. True liberals, are most often fiscal pragmatics with socially progressive values.
HAH you wish mate. That's something the Republicans would do to fund their next 20 wars. I can just imagine that faggot Rick Santorum "In the name of freedom and family, we're going to cut all of your electricity to bomb IRAN"
@MrSpencerport - Are you saying that when they're right of REAGAN they're "socalist - marxists?" Can you back up your claim with EVIDENCE, because from what I've seen, our whole country is so right wing they make Benito Mussolini look "Marxist."
@LeksServices In order for President Obama to regain his " base " he's going to have to appeal to the Elizabeth Warren supporters within the Democrat party. i.e. the Socialists and Marxists. That should make you happy because that's exactly where you live.
ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME? YOUR COUNTRY, THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, IS NOWHERE NEAR SOCIALISM. WHETHER YOU ARE DEMOCRAT OR REPUBLICAN, YOU ARE CONTROLLED BY PRIVATE BUREAUCRACY AND ITS DOING ALL OF US DAMAGE. COMMUNISM DOESN'T WORK, NEITHER DOES YOUR CORPORATIST STATE. A MIXED MARKET ECONOMY THAT HAS PLACED NORWAY AND AUSTRALIA THE TWO BEST COUNTRIES TO LIVE IN (ACCORDING TO THE UN) WORKS. HOW CAN YOU FAR RIGHT PEOPLE NOT UNDERSTAND THAT!
Of course not! I'm not fooling anybody, because I am trying to be as honest as possible through facts not fiction and my 2 year traveling through Europe and US. If you're trying to find someone who's trying to fool you, try talking to Fox News and Christian Fundamentalists : ) As I have said before, Kim Jong-Il disgusts me as much as Corporate Cronyism.
@daftronome It amazes me how much cold war propaganda is still floating around out there. The brainwashing of america was a complete sucess. After all these years countries like Sweden and Norway are still democracies but yet idiots in this country still thinks it leads to communism. Sigh !
@MrSpencerport MY day isn't complete until I see a dozen comments by foaming-at-the-mouth paranoid twats, braying about the Dems slipping into communism when anyone with half a brain can clearly see their rightward slant over the last few decades.
@megagrey Which have you slipped into, Socialism or Marxism ? Only a Socialist or Marxist would think that the Democrat party is becoming centrist. The Socialists and Marxists in the Democrat party is exactly why Sen. Ben Nelson is leaving the Senate.
@MrSpencerport Judging by your comments I don't think the concept of centrism exists in your world. If someone doesn't agree with you then you automatically label them a communist/Marxist/socialist. But unlike you some people aren't so constrained by dogmatic ideology that they feel the need to resort to name calling when someone else doesn't follow their party's manifesto to the letter. You seem to treat politics like a football game and that's not what we need right now.
@icemachine79 You may be impressed by Milquetoast centrists and moderates but in Democratic circles their called Blue Dog Democrats and are being forced out of the Democrat party one by one. The Socialists and Marxists of the Democrat party will not put up with centrists and you know it.
@MrSpencerport "Which have you slipped into, Socialism or Marxism ?" Isn't that a tad redundant?
But yeah, how silly of me to think the Dems are shifting to the right more and more. After all, so-called 'Obamacare' is clearly an evil communist plot but it's similar to Romney's policies in Massachusetts, as well as Republican proposals in the mid-90s. Same with cap-and-trade. What was I thinking?
@megagrey The reason why Obamacare and the idea of Cap and Trade are so unpopular is because of the Big Government intrusion that is involved. A recent Gallop survey found that 64% of people are scared that the Government is getting way to big and onerous. Big and onerous Government may be your idea of Utopia but the majority of Americans want less Government in their lives.
@MrSpencerport Get off your soapbox and anti-government paranoia. I was addressing the rightward shift of both major parties in the United States. The fact is, Democrats are embracing what were considered Republican, free-market derived solutions back in the mid-90s. And now they're somehow too 'socialistic' for the radicalized ideology of Republicans today.
@megagrey In Europe the American left wing would be considered far right wing, while American right wing would be called fascism. In America European right wing would be called far left and European left wing would be considered communism ;)
@MrSpencerport The way votes in the USA break down is about 25% Democrats that don't turn out reliably and 25% Republicans that turn out every time and 50% that don't vote at all because they don't think it makes any difference. That's mostly because they don't see anyone they can be excited about.
That said, If Tom Hanks ran for President as a Democrat it would be a blowout. He would probably even win Nebraska.
Cenk seems to forget that most politicians are bought off on both sides. Bernie Sanders and Ron Paul are exceptions to this rule, but most lack any once of integrity. Honestly I'm hoping more normal people everyday Americans start to run like myself so we have a shot at changing this country for the good of all.
TYT you do realize this means it's either Don Stenberg or Jon Bruning? I couldn't agree with you more when you said good riddance Ben Nelson.
If I'm not mistaken your channel did a show on Bruning and his raccoon comment. But let me warn you Stenberg is no winner.
Have you ever checked out the other clowns Nebraska sent to Washington? All of them pledged to Grover Norquist and gave the United States the middle finger. Nebraskans are the prostitutes of the United States. Just ask the 1%
Guarantee he has a job working at a major health insurance co or big pharma. He wouldn't be a legal consult- doesn't pay as much as health care. The only other option is he works for a bank or in the financial sector, but my guess is health care.
In an enlightened and just society, the likes of Ben Nelson would be led off in handcuffs and serving long terms in Leavenworth.. In our old west justice system he would be swinging at the end of a rope.
Justice would prohibit this asshole from any paid position that could be connected with any legislation that he had any involvement with whatsoever.. He is no 'Democrat' in any sense of the word, nor are 90% of those who call themselves Democrats.. Since Regan, Bush, Clinton, Bush, and Obama, Republicans have been running as Democrats - don't be naive and don't delude yourself.. The 'radical left' is about where Lyndon Johnson was...
@BrutusAlbion i'm really sorry. can you tell your nations to send UN human rights investigators? please? i'm not sure what else we can do. i don't want to be killed by drone for holding a sign. it's kind of scary here now...
@TheOrganicartist sorry buddy. We're trying to fend off the american propaganda right now that tries to make us believe that if we cut all social security and ruin all our pensions that it will magicly make us all rich beyond measure and return us to an age of prosperity.
But the fact is, we're all getting shafted up the butt and the only one's walking away with a smile are those slimey backstabbing politicians and corporatists that make up numbers as they go along.
wake up everybody!!!!

There IS no left wing in American politics.

@SpitfireOFatj Manning betrayed his Oath as a Soldier and committed treason in time of war, plain and simple. Anyone who supports that is an un-American radical that ought to be prosecuted for aiding and abetting a traitor. Manning could have gone about blowing the whistle in many legitimate ways that didn't involve committing treason, but he chose to do that anyway, all for some stupid notion about the gov't being against the people. That's how I see it, and he ought to hang.
armyveteran101st 2 months ago
@armyveteran101st Manning is a whistleblower and should be granted protection. It would be like prosecuting Ronald Ridenhour for exposing the My lai Massacre.
SpitfireOFatj 2 months ago
@SpitfireOFatj Apples and oranges, chief. Ridenhour went about shedding light on the My Lai incident the right way. He didn't betray his country and his Oath by providing secret info to foreign nationals that actively conspired against the U.S. Manning could have done something similar to what Ridenhour did by availing himself of internal Army mechanisms that exist for that precise purpose, (the I.G.). Assange committed crimes against the U.S. because Manning enabled him to do so.
armyveteran101st 1 month ago
@armyveteran101st Look what happened to the ORIGINAL report of My lai. It went through the way you advocate and was covered up. It wasn't until Ridenhour went outside the chain of command and it's internal propaganda machine that it got some action.
At the time he was called a traitor too.
The only reason Manning is in trouble is because his Oath includes obeying orders. Officers don't have that in their Oath so they can use their brains.
SpitfireOFatj 1 month ago
@SpitfireOFatj Still, he didn't go to a foreign entity to reveal secrets. He kept it all within the country, so he didn't really do anything treasonous. I don't know why that seems so hard for you to understand. And the Oath is exactly the same for enlisted personnel and officers. You're believing the bullshit that says that Soldiers can't think for themselves, and you are wrong as wrong can be. Inform yourself better and don't fall for the stupid stereotypes, OK?
armyveteran101st 1 month ago
@armyveteran101st "the Oath is exactly the same for enlisted personnel and officers."
No it's NOT. The Officers Oath doesn't include the part about following orders from The President or Officers appointed over them. It says, "I will bear true faith and allegiance to the (Constitution); that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion."
Manning violated his Oath but it wouldn't have been a crime if he had been an officer.
SpitfireOFatj 1 month ago
@SpitfireOFatj That minute difference is irrelevant to the argument you are trying to make in favor of Manning. The authority passed on from the President to commissioned officers is reflected by the word difference, and that's how it should be. Now, if you're trying to say that having no mental reservations or purpose of evasion is the same as not being able to think for one self, you need to get your head out of your ass ASAP. The fact is that Manning violated the law, period.
armyveteran101st 1 month ago
@armyveteran101st "That minute difference is irrelevant to the argument you are trying to make in favor of Manning."
Wrong. My argument is over a crisis of conscience. If you saw the truth and knew the government was lying it would be a matter of honor to reveal it. Especially if the lies were directed not an an enemy but at the folks back home. They described one event as a military victory when it was actually the slaughter of innocent civilians including women and children.
SpitfireOFatj 1 month ago
@SpitfireOFatj If you saw "the truth", (whatever that means), and wanted to do something about it while you are a uniformed member of the U.S. military, the responsible thing would be to follow the mechanisms that have been set up by the military to do so, which are many. Manning did just the opposite and broke the law and his Oath as a Soldier, (which means nothing to you, since you've never served). And I don't know what event you are referring to. Be specific and clear, please.

This may shock you but anti-war protester even during Vietnam supported the troops and wanted to bring them home. Hell, a lot of the troops back then were friends who had been drafted. The stereotype of hippies spiting on soldiers was a myth put out by the Right Wing.
SpitfireOFatj 1 month ago
@SpitfireOFatj I don't attack liberals, because I hold many liberal points of view. I attack retrograde fanatical far-left goons like you, who refuse to see reality as it is and are far from being reasonable. As for how the Left treated Soldiers coming back from Vietnam, you may be right to a small extent, but the historical evidence says otherwise. Whether drafted or not, they deserved respect that they never got. And the spitting on Soldiers in uniform was VERY real.
armyveteran101st 1 month ago
@armyveteran101st Wrong again. The historical fact is that hippies didn't spit on returning soldiers from Vietnam. There was a MOVIE where such an act was portrayed but there was never an actual incident. People have combed news accounts of the period and have found ZERO evidence of it ever occurring in reality. What DID happen was the stereotype of the "flashback" vet who would think he was in the jungle and flip out. This prevented a lot of vets from being hired.

The attitude is there.
armyveteran101st 1 month ago
@armyveteran101st The VAST MAJORITY? What basis do you have for that? It certainly is a strange conspiracy that would make Stalin jealous, if in these "vast majority" of cases not a single photograph has ever appeared.
The great irony, is that even though you "aren't interested in the percent", you see no problem at all in claiming it was above 50%. What basis do you have for this? Actually, screw 50%; that's the slimmest minority. You say "vast" majority. So we're talking about like 75%. A lie
DarkSunGod 1 month ago
@DarkSunGod Like I said, I'm not interested in wasting time arguing about inconsequential minutiae, particularly because it is obvious that you have decided to believe your own set of factoids instead of believing actual facts. I have better things to do.

@SpitfireOFatj Wiki what guy? And why would I go to Wikipedia for anything, considering the fact that anyone can go in there and alter information at their leisure? I sure hope you don't consider Wikipedia a trustworthy source of information. armyveteran101st 1 month ago
SpitfireOFatj 1 month ago
@SpitfireOFatj Right, your own version of reality. You have decided that you will only accept and believe what you want to accept and believe, regardless of whether it's true or not. I am done with your intransigence.
armyveteran101st 1 month ago
@armyveteran101st My "own version of reality"???
Are you kidding?
Here's reality. The US Military maintains over 700 bases around the planet. Some are little more than luxury golf courses in tropical locations where Generals can fly in with a Lear Jet paid for with tax dollars. The Pentagon considers the closing of ANY base to be a defeat.
Meanwhile, the Navy still maintains a sub fleet that's playing cat and mouse war games against non existent Soviet subs.
SpitfireOFatj 1 month ago

JustAnotherMutant 1 month ago
@JustAnotherMutant "I don't think they have admitted nothing was harmful,"

His not selling the data does not absolve him of the fact that he released it without reviewing the data. He didn't release a small number of specific incidents, he downloaded what he could and did a mass release of unreviewed material. That makes him a criminal, not a hero.
JustAnotherMutant 1 month ago

@JustAnotherMutant "citation please. Who in the government admitted that nothing was harmful, and where? Was this after all documents had been reviewed?"
Yes. The State Department said it. Also, the documents he released led to the Arab Spring as the people of Tunisia rose up after released cables revealed their government's corruption, the cables also led to the end of the Iraq War when immunity was no longer granted for war crimes by US troops.

What was I thinking?
megagrey 2 months ago 3
@megagrey The reason why Obamacare and the idea of Cap and Trade are so unpopular is because of the Big Government intrusion that is involved. A recent Gallop survey found that 64% of people are scared that the Government is getting way to big and onerous. Big and onerous Government may be your idea of Utopia but the majority of Americans want less Government in their lives.

@megagrey In Europe the American left wing would be considered far right wing, while American right wing would be called fascism. In America European right wing would be called far left and European left wing would be considered communism ;)

@FilipKunc Tell me about it. The REALLY funny thing is our idiot Right Wingers are going around claiming Hitler was a Liberal.
To them, "Liberal" is something right out of Satan's ass.

"Radical left" refers to all those weirdos who don't like to watch impoverished children die.

Time to cash in. It's time to lobby and be a part of the boards of directors of several Fortune 100 companies.

BluSeti 2 months ago in playlist Uploaded videos
Justice would prohibit this asshole from any paid position that could be connected with any legislation that he had any involvement with whatsoever.. He is no 'Democrat' in any sense of the word, nor are 90% of those who call themselves Democrats.. Since Regan, Bush, Clinton, Bush, and Obama, Republicans have been running as Democrats - don't be naive and don't delude yourself.. The 'radical left' is about where Lyndon Johnson was...
