  • This really works ,, Darn you are the Best for posting this. Everyone that has a Dell computer needs to follow these instructions. I've tried to record myself singing on many sites and won't work until I did what this upload says,,,, I'm soooooo happy.

  • if you don't have stereo mix u have What U Hear which works the same

  • @TheUngiver, what are you supposed to do after Step 2?

  • I have a Dell with Sound Blaster card will your procedure work?

  • I Have a Dell with a Sound Blaster card?

  • Does that work for Sound Blaster card?

  • I currently have a XPS 1530 with a Sigmatel high def audio codec driver (Stereo mix isn't available with that driver) I noticed on the dell website that they recommend a SIGMATEL STAC 92XX C-Major HD Audio driver. Does anyone know if this will give me stereo mix?

  • I couldnt find mastercontrolsindependentmixerinputs D:

  • @OMGZach72

im in the same boat as you D:

  • @specter99 ikr, DAMNIT xD

It turns out, the version of sigma tel audio doesn't let me enable stereo mix..... (or at least I can't find a yt tut Dx)

  • DID NOT WORK.

  • DAMN I HAVE HP!

  • I've been trying to get this to work for about 5 hours now and this didn't work either.. Do you know any other programs then Audacity I can use for recording sound off my computer without needing Stereomix?

  • this only works on dell?

  • shit soundcard? Or is it software based? you have two options, replace the soundcard, reinstall windows from a non dell install disc. Jesus. Another reason to not buy a dell. Cheap incapable parts.

  • nope not working nw my playback gone

  • doesnt work for me, im running a dell dimension c521 with stock soundcard and sound software

  • whats enapleinputmonitor on german computers?

  • Didn't work.

  • will this only work for big computers not laptops ?

  • didnt work sorry i have windows 7 and i got it on chrismas der was only microwphone no sterero mix helppp :(

  • I think it's the same driver package for Windows Vista or Windows 7. I know Dell disabled it somehow, but if you download the Realtek driver package from the Realtek website, install the package, everything works after that. That's what I did, and I tried all kinds of shit before that didn't work.

  • Okay everyone I had this problem too. Bought a Dell. Windows 7. No stereo mix. I had "High Definition Audio". I went to the Realtek website and downloaded the latest driver package for Windows 7. It's a zip or an exe file. I installed the new drivers and Stereo Mix is now visible in my "recording devices" list. I enabled it, set it as default, and now I can record all audio. After a day of working on this, that's what worked for me. Realtek website, download latest driver package, install.

  • lucky asshole gtfo

  • i already have the stereo mix option but nothing records only with microphone why is that?

  • it doesnt work :(

  • what song is this?

  • @metallicsob Nottingham Lace by Buckethead. :)

  • I dont have EnableInputMonitor on my regedit. JELP!

  • whats the song please?

  • "Nottingham Lace" by Buckethead

  • Did all the steps. Nothing. Got a gateway though, could be it. Help?

  • cant find my MasterControlsIndependentMixerInputs

  • thanks. Check the vid response.

  • There is no EnableInputMonitor in my registry. Can it be helped?

  • Ok!! Crucial question!! Will this work on a SigmaTel Audio?!?!? Swear down, Dell has screwed us!

  • Right now I would really want a Msv

  • Will this work with SigmaTel Audio?

  • Im scared to use this!! Will this work?!?

  • Will this work if the audio codec is ALC861?

  • OMG THIS HELP ME SO FREAKING MUCH

    I WOULD ANAL RAPE YOU!

    THANK YOU SO MUCH

btw if you dolnt have that last one make it

  • 6666

  • 100% dosnt work i dont gave c-major audio

  • Thanks, it worked for me also.

  • THX

  • Dell computers sux-.-

  • Thanks dude!

    It works perfectly!

  • i just did what this video said to do on a dell with sigmatel audio card and i have no sound for anything. i need help/

  • This method is not recommended for those illiterate with a computer.

Start > Help and Support > Under pick a task, "Undo changes to your computer with system restore". Follow the instructions and restore your computer to a previous time.

  • i got my sound back but even when doing it i get no stereo mix at all ive tried similar methods and nothing.

  • i just got it to work thanks for the tips!

  • ok, go to start and search restore. go to system restore and choose the time.

  • i mean got the stereo mix i know about the restores and what not but i got it to work

  • wat bout hp vista ?

  • To get "Run" on Vista, on the keyboard, hold down the Windows flag key and press the letter "R". Hope this helps!

  • HPs don't use the same stripped down drivers as Dell, so I don't know if I can help you there. For future reference, what Whogopenguin said is correct, but the search bar also doubles as "run".

  • Ermm... When i go into the Registry editor and type in "EnableInputMonitor" and search, nothing appears... :P Do you know what the problem is? :D

  • Your driver differentiates from the ones commonly found on a Dell computer.

  • Please help sorry for posting again!

  • Probably a bad idea to tamper with your registry then. Reverse whatever you did, and if that doesn't work, reinstall your sound driver. If that doesn't work, message me with the changes you made in your registry.

  • Thanks ill try that

  • Should i deleate DigitalinputMonitor and DigitalSteroMix to get my sound back?

  • Nooo! Reinstall your sound driver. What sound card do you have?

  • What you mean like idk how to tell cuz im not technical lol

  • L-M-A-O!!

  • technical rofl

  • Now i cant hear any sound on my computer

  • Umm I have a Dell, I searched for that in the registry and it wouldn't find anything. Could you please help?

  • Comment removed

  • thank you soooooo much

  • I don't have a dell, but my OS is XP... Will this still work? Before I start fuckin up my registry...

  • Yes. Results aren't guaranteed for non-Dells though.

  • followed everything, didn't work.

  • Yup worked like a charm, excllent .

  • thank you SO much. In fact I'll might a tribute video just to thank you. I'm definitely subbing to you : )

  • i have a problem..i did all your steps but i still dont have it

  • Thanks dude. It worked

  • thanks - got the stereo mixer and input but subjectlivly its clipping badly as if a first audio stage is overdriven - is that a driver problem? how do I fix it so its usable?

  • oops - its a C-521

  • Damn, doesn't work for me... It couldn't find anything called EnableInputMonitor. Oh well.

  • wen i got o start run an type in regedit it says its not a valid system 32 shit

  • it gave me "input monitor" instead....

  • wtf i did wut u said and it didn't work

  • Ok MasterControlsIndependentMixerInputs

    Did not come up!

  • ughh. i did all this and it still didn't work, BUT i have something to say. Strangly enough, when i found EnableInputMoniter, it was already 01 O-o

  • Your driver probably differs.

  • I have done all that you have explained in this video but nothing has changed ... How is this possible?

  • What model is your computer?

  • Me too. My model is Dimension E310/3100

  • This also didnt work for me, Im starting to see a pattern because i also have a Dimension, a Dimension 9150. Also what song is that?

  • Buckethead - Nottingham Lace

It's odd also, this should work on Dimension E models...assuming they all have the same stripped driver, which they should.

  • Thanks but no it dosent work on any Dimensions.

  • False, it worked on my Dimension E521.

  • Oh ye the E models work, sadly I dont have an E model.

  • how do you find MasterControlsIndependentMixerInputs? i search and nothing came up?

  • Make sure you typed it correctly, make sure it's case-sensitive, and if it's not there, try creating the value.

  • what do you mean by case-sensitive? sorry i dunno about computers. i just followed your video step by step until i can't find the mastercontrolsindependentmixer, you said i have to create it? where? same registry? where i put the EnableInputMonitor and DigitalStereomix?

  • Case-sensitive meaning it takes into account the capital and lowercase letters. For example, mastercontrolsindependentmixer would not work, MasterControlsIndependentMixer would.

Oh, and yes, there in lies the problem: we don't know where to put it, because it doesn't give us any results. Go back, and try again, and make sure it doesn't work. Try going through some drivers, and see if those add the value.

  • oh yea mine is case sensitive and before i didn't have "EnableInputMonitor" and i just created it under "speakerHp" it worked.but the rest of your steps didn't. plus, i put it in the same registry where i have the EnableInputMonitor. shud i try putting it under "MicIn" or "MuxedIn1"?

  • Wait, HP? Dell's drivers are the ones that lack a full stereo mix. Does your stereo mix not work?

  • yes i have a speakerHP in my Dell inspiron 1525. i deleted the steps that i put in my registry from this video. i have to know first where to put it so it will work. i have no clue. it won't work.

  • *sigh* This is so messed up. Everything works perfectly exept MasterControlsIndependentMixer Inputs I cannot find it and i tried creating my own and there was no difference at all. Does anyone have any suggestions?

  • worked a treat thanks :P

  • I tried this and when I typed EnableInputMonitor nothing came up. :( I have a Dell E521 with Vista Premium 32-Bit with a SigmaTel driver. Does this mean I have to buy a sound card? Or is there something else I can do in the registry? I hope someone can help me please!

  • Try enabling said binary value, and updating your drivers. This usually works, but beforehand I had went through a lot of driver changes in hope one will finally work.

  • I have no idea how to do any of that. I'm not that tech savvy. I'd need detailed step by step instructions before I edit the registry since I don't know what I'm doing in there. Thanks anyway.

  • It's a bit simple to do...the problem would be, finding where your audio driver registries are, which is different for everyone. If you could find those, it wouldn't be a problem.

  • Well I am not sure where the audio driver registries are and even if I did know I wouldn't know what to do when I found them. lol.

  • Update: I downloaded and installed the XP version of my driver for my pc and I have stereo mix but my problem is that I am not getting any sound at all thru my speakers. When I try to play a MP3 with WMP it says it encountered a problem. Also when I try to configure my speakers it says "Failed to play test tone." So is there a solution to this? If so, please tell me. Thanks.

  • Roll back your drivers. You probably installed an incompatible driver for your computer. If you modified the binary values with the driver you just installed, you probably did it incorrectly, or when you modified them beforehand it could have interfered, but I can't say for sure- rolling back your drivers to a previous state would seem like the best option.

  • I figured it out and now have stereo mix and just tried playing/streaming music in PalTalk and it worked. All I did was delete the DigitalInputMonitor and did the rest u said and it worked! Yay! Thanks. :)

P.S. I even emailed Dell and told them off! They are such nit wits!

  • Glad it worked for you - and yes, I don't agree that Dell would give you stripped-down drivers in an attempt to cease music piracy. That's just plain silly, and it's screwed a lot of people over.
