You guys dont have to do all that. I just went to my recording devices, right clicked, clicked on "Show disabled deviced" then clicked stereo mix and enabled it. YOU CAN DO THAT!! Thumbs up if it worked
There's a new software available that enables the stereo mix on ALL soundcards under XP, Vista and 7. Just google 'DDMF virtual audio stream' and give it a try, it's great...

@ThePencil901 Sorry for u guy, but in my DELL work very good ahmm Its Working in my Windows XP. I have a new PC whit windows 7 H P , its a Sony Vaio VPCF12FM, the sound card is Realtek but this donr't have this option, (Stereo Mix) :(
@supershadow64ds wat thats not a troll a troll is to make someone mad or to get a reaction. it actually doesn't fucking work for me, and I found out that sony vaio's don't support the stereo mix feature so fuck.
ehm, when i search for EnableInputMonitor, is says "Finishing saerching thru the something" and nothing else comes up, w00t, i have dell and win7, i don't know what the prob is :s
i have no MasterControlsIndependentMixerInputs. Noo idea where it is, i searched all of the Masters and couldnt find it! idk what to do reply if anyone knows
This really works ,, Darn you are the Best for posting this. Everyone that has a Dell computer needs to follow these instructions. I've tried to record myself singing on many sites and won't work until I did what this upload says,,,, I'm soooooo happy.
Do you know if this will work with SoundMAX Digital Audio? I don't really want to go fucking with my computer unless I know I'll get some results :/ Since I've tried almost every possible solution.
I currently have a XPS 1530 with a Sigmatel high def audio codec driver (Stereo mix isn't available with that driver) I noticed on the dell website that they recommend a SIGMATEL STAC 92XX C-Major HD Audio driver. Does anyone know if this will give me stereo mix?
I've been trying to get this to work for about 5 hours now and this didn't work either.. Do you know any other programs then Audacity I can use for recording sound off my computer without needing Stereomix?
shit soundcard? Or is it software based? you have two options, replace the soundcard, reinstall windows from a non dell install disc. Jesus. Another reason to not buy a dell. Cheap incapable parts.
I think it's the same driver package for Windows Vista or Windows 7. I know Dell disabled it somehow, but if you download the Realtek driver package from the Realtek website, install the package, everything works after that. That's what I did, and I tried all kinds of shit before that didn't work.
Okay everyone I had this problem too. Bought a Dell. Windows 7. No stereo mix. I had "High Definition Audio". I went to the Realtek website and downloaded the latest driver package for Windows 7. It's a zip or an exe file. I installed the new drivers and Stereo Mix is now visible in my "recording devices" list. I enabled it, set it as default, and now I can record all audio. After a day of working on this, that's what worked for me. Realtek website, download latest driver package, install.
This method is not recommended for those illiterate with a computer.
Start > Help and Support > Under pick a task, "Undo changes to your computer with system restore". Follow the instructions and restore your computer to a previous time.
HPs don't use the same stripped down drivers as Dell, so I don't know if I can help you there. For future reference, what Whogopenguin said is correct, but the search bar also doubles as "run".
Probably a bad idea to tamper with your registry then. Reverse whatever you did, and if that doesn't work, reinstall your sound driver. If that doesn't work, message me with the changes you made in your registry.
thanks - got the stereo mixer and input but subjectlivly its clipping badly as if a first audio stage is overdriven - is that a driver problem? how do I fix it so its usable?
what do you mean by case-sensitive? sorry i dunno about computers. i just followed your video step by step until i can't find the mastercontrolsindependentmixer, you said i have to create it? where? same registry? where i put the EnableInputMonitor and DigitalStereomix?
Case-sensitive meaning it takes into account the capital and lowercase letters. For example, mastercontrolsindependentmixer would not work, MasterControlsIndependentMixer would.
Oh, and yes, there in lies the problem: we don't know where to put it, because it doesn't give us any results. Go back, and try again, and make sure it doesn't work. Try going through some drivers, and see if those add the value.

yes i have a speakerHP in my Dell inspiron 1525. i deleted the steps that i put in my registry from this video. i have to know first where to put it so it will work. i have no clue. it won't work.
*sigh* This is so messed up. Everything works perfectly exept MasterControlsIndependentMixer Inputs I cannot find it and i tried creating my own and there was no difference at all. Does anyone have any suggestions?
I tried this and when I typed EnableInputMonitor nothing came up. :( I have a Dell E521 with Vista Premium 32-Bit with a SigmaTel driver. Does this mean I have to buy a sound card? Or is there something else I can do in the registry? I hope someone can help me please!
Try enabling said binary value, and updating your drivers. This usually works, but beforehand I had went through a lot of driver changes in hope one will finally work.
I have no idea how to do any of that. I'm not that tech savvy. I'd need detailed step by step instructions before I edit the registry since I don't know what I'm doing in there. Thanks anyway.
It's a bit simple to do...the problem would be, finding where your audio driver registries are, which is different for everyone. If you could find those, it wouldn't be a problem.
