since you asked for the comment im gonna give it to you. flawless job as far as i can tell. im not sure why i like the acoustic intro so much. you played beautifully. very nice job man. and i agree it takes a long to film a cover video that your satisfied with. nice job man
I love this song but could'nt find a really nice cover on youtube (except the piano version of "Chocoalex", which is awesome), so I decided to upload one ;-)
I'll try Lethe, definitely. It's another DT awesome song ;-)
.actually i've been searching for about an hour for a decent cover and yours is the first one i could watch till the end!! i loved the guitar pro backtrack, did you tab it yourself? bottom line, you did a very good job dude, you should be proud ;)
Did you put the microphone in front where it says ENGL? that is a bad position. With a 4x12 cab try with a dynamic mic in the edge of one of the loudspeaker cones, and crack up the gain. It will sound better. Believe me ;-)
Try placing your mic by the lower right hand corner of one of the actual speakers themselves, instead of just in the middle of the cabinet, experiment a little bit, but on average you will get a MUCH better sound that way, trust me :) awesome cover man.
I'm a sound engineer myself, and it's really annoying setting up an entire rig like that just to record. You can get very, very similar results through the Line6 UX2, which retails for around $150USD, and it's worth it, you can emulate head amps and cabinets, and you can plug your guitar or bass straight into it with a usb output. It'll save you soo much time.
i've got a Toneport UX2 too, it sounds pretty good for the price (I paid it 200€ here in France ..), but I really prefer the sound of my tube amp (much more dynamics, lovely distortion etc..) !
But u're right, using the UX2 saves a lot of time ;-)
first accurate cover of this on youtube lol good job, but u accidently(or on purpose i cant tell) palm muted a few notes which made it too dull when you should jst let it ring man :P love playin this song its beautiful
I played the full song with a pick because I used to play like that, but of course you could play the arpeggios with fingerpicking technique, it's probably easier .. ;-)
Damn, i need this Guitar...do you sell this Vigier Marilyn ??? ; )

Nice cover ;)
Ive tried to play it too but i couldnt find tabs in e tuning =( could you please tell me where´d you get the tabs? would be nice ;)
AGreatFire 1 year ago
@AGreatFire
I just got a guitar pro tablature on the net, and changed the guitar tuning in guitar pro to Standard E-Tuning (without transposing the notes)
(u could do that by clicking on the instrument name, on the bottom of the screen, in guitar pro)
b4gu3tt3 1 year ago
What guitar is that? the pickup configuration remembers me of an ESP... and, nice vid, good cover, i like this song.
michelterres 1 year ago
@michelterres
The guitar is a Vigier Marilyn, it's a french hand-made guitar
Pickups are emg 81/85, like on many ESP (but other guitars, too ;-))

can you give me the standard e-tuning tab? or tell me where i can find it? because i only find tabs in D#
thanks :)
ChampagneSupernova18 1 year ago
if you're using guitar pro, you can change the tuning of instruments and put it in E tuning.
otherwise, I can send you the tab I used in E tuning, if you want.
just MP me !

fabulastico!
Alemdomais 3 years ago
wow, your play is awesome!
I saw that elsewhere too, and i don't understand it:
pickup -> preamp -> effects -> speaker -> microphone -> computer
What is the reason that people don't connect the output directly to computer?
pickup -> preamp -> effects -> computer
Or in this case only video/audio synchronicity?
lordcica 3 years ago
the reason is simple : the quality of the sound loop is highely decreased if you connect your preamp directly to your computer.
why ? because you just simulate speakers on your computer, and speakers is one on the most important part of the sound...
I played a long time with just a line6 toneport plugged in my computer without speakers, but the result is really not comparable :/
(but the price is 10 times lower, too :)

EviceratedFoetus 3 years ago
yep, my Marilyn is my favorite guitar, "she" 's almost perfect ! ;-)
I'm from France, and Vigier is a french trademark, so it's not that difficult to find some Vigier where I live :)
And it was about 2000 euros... expensive, but less than a custom shop from fender, ibanez and such... and better, imo :)
