as far as playing a instrument yes that takes the skill of training your body to be able to play guitar. but its a matter of creativity and i wouldnt call t-pain any less creative then clapton. i takes musical knowledge to compose those beats just as it does to write guitar parts the clapton plays. if you were to really listen to what is going on in t-pains songs you would hear that they are very cohesive pieces of work. as for vocals he does have to be on key for his effect to work as desired.

He actually made those songs. Steved Gadd is awesom, he can play whatever he wants on drums, but he is a sessionist, he hasn't made those song. There must be some reason why all those musicians play with him... About the scales Clapton uses, listen to David Gilmour, from Pink Floyd.
