Stuart Townsend played Lestat in Queen of The Damned, but Tom Cruise had held the role before him in Interview with The Vampire, in 1994. I don't care much for Tom Cruise, but I do think he was absolutely exquisite as Lestat... while Townsend's portrayal (though I'm really mostly bothered by his physical appearance) wasn't quite as true to the novels' character.

Did you know that Anne Rice made the script for Interview with the vampire? She didn't trust in Tom at the beggining but when she saw him acting as Lestat, she just couldn't think about anyone else but Tom for being Lestat. and as Outsiderchic says, all the time Anne talks about his beautiful BLONDE hair and GREY eyes(what is not shown in the movie the queen of the damned)he took from his mother. Yes but in the book there is a BIG deal made about his golden curly hair. Anne Rice constantly brings it up on the book, or should I say Lestat does because his mother has the same shade of hair. From what i've seen of stuart townsend he MIGHT have dirty blond hair in the right light but thats it.

And to be honest I think Tom's face could be angelic...
