I love both versions but, in all honesty, when I watched Michael and the rest of the group

struggle for 7 months to get this song just as Michael's vision came from our bass player; I know how laborious the creative process can be, so after knowing he'd probably get the most criticism from this song, I'd have to say I prefer Michael's version. There is more emotion and MB can hit those high notes. He took it into a slower version with a much different tone than what you'd expect. I really feel

ahh I get it now. lemmy clarify this whole autotune nonsense. the hip hop world killed a program that artists have been using for a long ass time. my guess is that after 7 months of recording this song Bob Rock ended up over producing a bit, and used it to add a little swing at the end of some of the lines. it's not used because Mike can't hit the notes. my guess is he thought people wouldn't notice or care. I don't usually like it but don't mind it here

I really like this song and the way he's done it. However, there's a sort of electronic sound in his voice at a couple of places, notably the beginning. I'm no engineer, so I can't attribute a particular filter or effect to the result, but I've listened to it several times and I hear a synthetic effect in his voice most obviously in the first time he gets to "alot for Christmas." It would be better if I didn't hear it, but even with it, this song still wraps around my heart and gets warm. Thanks

I am a Mariah Carey fan, but great job Michael! This is one of the only acceptable covers of Mariah - it gives the song a different dimension, one that is, as Michael said, "heartfelt", while Mariah's version is more upbeat and joyful. I like both of them.
