  • excellent railway, top notch. a nice feel to it. love the way the houses light up at the start. One thing that may interest you is that at the beggining, it is night time yet the sky is blue. One idea you may find of use is this. When i make my railway, im painting a night time background of stars and moon as well as a daytime one.

  • @russianpostman Thank you for your Kind Comment, and yes it would be a good idea for a night scene background with dark sky , maybe I should consider this in my next project.

  • It's weird seeing it at the beginning Dave!

  • @Staratino It had to start somewhere Rikki ...I kind of got carried away.

  • @howarth004 Carried away is an understatement my friend. You went mental. In the best possible way.

  • What are the dimensions of this layout? It looks fantastic. I think an around the room type layout is the only way to go

  • @tenoregermania It is approx 28ft x 8ft , thanks for the comment

  • Fantastic layout.

  • @newcastlerabbit Thanks for your comment

  • the deltic sounds great, can i ask dave you have a shed on here that has a blue light flashing as if a welder was inside ( superb ) how did you do that as id love to do the same and have one on my layout, and im guesing the deltic is nimbus, my fav shot is the nightime one when its all lit up, thanks dave, regards hugh

  • @wattass7 Hi the Deltic is Pinza, and the blue flashing lights I bought from Modelex of Birmingham if you google it you will find them think that Express Models also produce them, hope this helps Dave

  • Such an enjoyable video, nice to see how it all started. You have achieved so much and the lighting effects are simply superb.

  • @practice264 Thank you for your kind comment, it has been an enjoyable hobby,, which just seems to get better with all the new pieces that keep being produced.

    thanks

    Dave

  • dcc or dc ?

  • @Xenotronics dcc it is the only way to go to-day

  • That is one he'll of a layout I take my hat off to you just started building mine hope it turns out as good as that I keep looking at yours for little tips etc

  • @gasheadchas Thank you for your kind comment, all the best building yours, I had great fun buildiing , and some setbacks, but that is all part of it., and you never fiinsh, I am still trying to inprove mine, keeps us buisy.

    Cheers

    Dave

  • do you use the "recommended" point clips by hornby or not? because I see you have a hornby elite, do you find any power loss or engines just randomly stopping at any of your points as I am thinking of going DCC , but fairly cheaply and the cheapest I could find was the hornby select, should i buy the clips or not?

  • @trainboymatt Yes I do use the hornby points clips , it is a must with dcc, the only time Loco`s stop on points is iether bad connection with the fishplates , or sometimes with the older stock if you go very slow and they do not have pick ups on each axle.

  • This is a fantastic layout. I take my hat off to you sir.

  • @Tornado922 Thank you very much, have made a few inprovements since this was made.

  • I luv the way it lights up in the dark! Amazing Layout! =) This is what I am aiming for one day. I do have a lot of locos & rolling stock.

  • wow at the start is that the size of it now

  • @jmsschooner YES IT STARTED SMALL 2 YEARS AGO, AND JUST KEPT GROWING, THINK i GOT CARRIED AWAY, JUST MAKING SOME MORE ALTERATIONS, ADDING SOME MORE TRACK.

  • VERY NICE VIDEO*****:::::Regards from Spain.....Jordi.

  • thanks for your kind comments

  • realy like the videos of your brilliant model railway.

  • @percomotion thank you for your comment, just been looking at yours, good job all round.

  • Magnificent! magnificent!!!!!!!!! I honestly cannot wait to see what other extensions are put on in the future. Quarrys? Harbours? Good Stations? Freight Yards? It all looks magnificent!

Have you got any DCC Smoke Units in your Engines yet?

  • @OwenDWF Thanks Owen, the building side has been put on hold for a while , too hot in the loft now it`s summer, and no not got round to smoke units yet , but it could be something in the future

  • @howarth004

Ah right. I see. Its all looking Fantastic though. Ive subbed to see the rest of the work for the future.

  • yes this is true fill my mind whith trains and not what the day had to offer this hobby has tacken over my life in a nice way have not got sound locos yet love a4 have 30 so far love it thanks mark

  • @MrSpl1ff I think there are quite a few like us Mark

  • OMG S**T HOT LOVE THE VID

Im off to attick soon 96 feet long 34 feet wide im not coming back if the wife asks iv left the contry

  • @MrSpl1ff Glad you liked it, if your attick is that size you can build an ever bigger layout. keeps us out of the wife`s hair?????

  • Sometimes it looks like in real life. I like your great job!

  • Yes. The force is strong in this one...

    5*

  • Cheers Rikki

  • im buying more bachman trains than hornby now and i bought a very nice hall class (st edmund hall) it is amazing (lol#)

  • @richishard Well I am begining to think that Bachmann are better than Hornby these days

  • OK, that is one impressive layout.

    5+++++

  • @bobman958 Thanks for that comment Bob

  • wish i had time to start my layout, ive got all my stock, just no spare time or room, excellent job !

    geoff

  • @geoffcarter1212 Thanks for that Geoff, well I thought I did not have the time, but once I started I could`nt leave it alone, as for the room I made it in the loft, it was just bare before I started.

  • A great layout, fantastic detail keep up the good work.

  • Thanks for that, I am still trying to inprove mine, just building a viaduct and extended another 4 ft.

  • Fantastic layout, something for us all to aim for.

  • Thanks for that, but it`s not that good

  • Keep coming back to this layout of yours. Really is stunning!

Look forward to seeing more when you next upload!

    best wishes

    Tom

  • Thanks Tom, not that good, trying to build a viaduct with a 4 5 incline just now proveing to be a bit difficult.

  • @howarth004

ah right, My layout originally had a hill on it which can be found in my older videos. I scrapped when locos were struggling with 3 coaches, and decided to keep all level.

Don't let that put you off though lol

    Tom

  • This hill is 4" which I have got wrong because it also incorparates a bend, so the diesels which are heavey and drive on front and rear , no problem , but the steam have a problem City of Sheffield has wheel spin, and Sir Nigel just carn`t pull 6 coaches up the hill, so double header is required , then the small freight trucks don`t like the curve at the top, O well keeps me busy, will post a vid when compleated.

    Cheers

    Dave

  • This is another great video. Can I ask, do you run the layout to any kind of timetable, or waybill system or anything like that? Or is it built will the sole (very soothing) intention of sitting and watching trains go by?

    I'm just curious.

    5* (again)

  • No timetable, more often than not , as is now I am too busy building new scenary and track of which I get plenty of problems, to even run the loco`s, trying to get a viaduct with a 4% incline to work just now. Thanks again for your comments

  • Very beautiful model. Congratulations. 5*

    Philippe

  • Merci Beacoup.. Mon Ami..we keep trying.

  • Wow!!!! Looks smashing

    Is it DCC controlled?

  • Thanks for that...yes we have gone dcc ..got to keep up with it.;;;it`s better and easy.

  • Great layout. Haven't lit mine yet. Hmm. I should. What a fantastic job you have done

  • great video.are the buildings that are lit up for night shots painted black inside ?

  • No they are just the Metcalfe buildings with a grain of rice bulb inside usually 2 bulbs split so they don`t blow.

  • Very good video and a great layout!!

  • Thanks for that ..shall have to have a shnt yard like your video

  • This is really amazing! I like that! :-)

  • Cheers Pierre

  • @howarth004

    Hello David,

How is the weather in Bridlington?

Greetings from the snowy city of Mons (Belgium)! :-)

  • It is -3d. and about 2inches of snow, not as bad as what you have , but I shall be glad when it warms up.

  • hi you have a great looking layout ,i am planing a loft layout but not as big as this.

  • I started out with a small layout, but got carried away, Thanks for the comment

  • Well done chief another great video !! I still maintain your layout is one of the best i have ever seen. I haven't had much time to work on Loftonshire lately have been busing modelling o gauge !!! Keep them coming

  • Thanks I keep trying to add a bit of humar to the vids, just started another extension so should keep me busy for a month or two, I have seen a lot better but we keep trying and learning.

  • Your attention to detail is incredible! Awesome!

  • Thanks again, we all get pleasure seeing something come to-gether, be it gardens, railways, ponds , waterfalls.

  • Very cool! I love all the detail.

  • Thanks for that, must try the American Model railways next.

  • Another great video "Dangerous" Dave. Love the addition of music and your long trains (which I'm quite envious of).

    Adam (TVR)

  • Thanks for your comment Adam

  • Lovely Layout there, nice attention to detail !

  • Thanks for that

  • Where did you get your station lights from ?

  • I got them at my Hornby Stockist I think most model shops sell them , they are German and cost about £7 each, bought them a while ago so no package left to give you the name, try e bay (model railway lights)

  • Why

  • WHY WHAT? MR. HAWLEY

  • Could be to escape from the computer????

  • wow there is a lot of action

    Christian :-))

  • Just like the film ..Great Escape

  • Wonderful! Sound does play a very important part in your modelling! I am wondering what kind of lighting you have in your loft. Everything is so very well lit! I have tried quite strong lighting on my layout at one time but that produces very dark shadows that spoil the clarity. If you fit too many lights you get shadows going in different directions! Presently I have two long strip lights in the apex of the roof but still feel the lighting on my layout could be better.

  • Yes Mike the music does give it some woof...also the sound loco`s, as far as lighting goes I have 3 strip lights in the apex and a small 3 spot at the far end. But it must be the camera that makes it look lighter, as I know when doing work up there on the track I struggle a bit to see small items. thanks Dave

  • great video dave, makes your layout look even better

  • Thanks Steve, but I did what I advised you not to do I ran the loco`s too fast, problem trying to film and controll at the same time.

  • great video as always but you need to add some more lights.

  • Well if you could see all the wires i have running under my layout you probably say don`t bother, thanks for the comment, will consider it later, when price of electric comes down???

  • I wish I had made videos of my layout when I had black plastic bags for a tunnel haha, anyway nice video. Oh and those coaches you asked about are GWR clerestory coaches. I believe Hornby is releasing some nicer ones later this year.

    -Adam

  • Cheers Adam, must watch out for those when they get released

  • Great new upload, Dave. Can't get tired of watching!

    Robert

  • Thanks Robert it`s the music that gets it going!!!

  • 20 stars im impressed

  • thanks for that, just needs a good music system to listen to the music?????

  • nice! do you have any vids of laying track etc?

  • no but you will find some on here or even google

  • Are you going to upgrade to the dynamis pro. I am thinking about doing so , but my garden railway is taking over all my money at the moment.

  • I would like to do , but costs at this time of year are making me hold back, but to be honest it works well as it is as long as i keep the cotroller within a reasonable distance of the command station

  • Absoloutley amazing! Great length of layout!

    Superb!

    Tom

  • thanks for that Tom

  • 5*S great vid will you be getting the new hornby castles

  • thanks jaike, not sure about new stock for a while, might do some alterations shortly

  • wooow amazing!!!! it just shows you how this amazing layout has been made!!!! 5*

  • Thanks for that , as you will see there are a few pieces from earlier videos
