Mao knows even still you love him. They are with us always.
I lost one and kept one alive with crf for 6 years. It took a lot of money and time. Had I known then what I know now, both of my cats may have survived longer. Foods without by products and low ash/phosphorus such as The Honest Kitchen, Solid Gold LIVER (blue can) , sub q fluids, holistic Dr. recommended herbs to support & cleanse the kidney, blood transfusion, and 3 days on an iv can get your cats blood work back to stable. We just took a cat from 160 BUN to 43 by doing what I listed above.
my cat had like 30 seizures and she was going to be saved but might not have regained contentiousness or think how she used to to me tht didnt matter as long as she wasnt in pain but it was 4000 dollers for all tht damn i fuking hate money
i am so sorry, but i understand. My cat, Ginger died from IAMs, and he already had diabetes, so i was worried for him. When I heard the recall on the news, i gasped. The next day, he had trouble seing. Two days later, My mother found out thier was no cure, and he was put to sleep. she told me,"I held his paw before he left us to join heaven." The day that happened was to days before my birthday. The only thing i wished for, was for him to live until my birthday. :(

Get away from COMMERCIAL PET FOODS! I So many of them have euthanized animals in them which means your pets are being fed pentobarbital. Google it! I recommend natures pet for human grade food. google them. Once the damage is so severe it's difficult to reverse. Too many vets know exactly what the deal is, but it's too political for them to get involved, so they just act like they don't know what's wrong and keep making money off of treating your animals. *SAD* I've been there done it!
Yeah, years after poisoning untold numbers of animals by putting Melamine in grain, they put Melamine in Chinese baby formula. Many babies in China got sick & a few died. (I think that it was recalled in this country before anyone was affected). It's a terrible way to die. There should be a moratorium on ALL foods coming from China.

I have a Patterdale Terrier puppy and would be so sad if anything happened to her, my 3 year old son adores her and she's really part of our family.

Not all animals must be functionally useful. Pets are meant to boost up the emotional side of a person. Cats may be temperimental and unpredictable, but their playfulness and the silly things that they do makes people laugh. Some cats are really funny to watch and play with. At least they help to give you laughter, which is the best medicine. That I think can sometimes be better than a dog. I love both dogs and cats. They have their own usefulness.

I am sorry for your loss. We were lucky to save our yellow lab Gigi. The vet told us she didn't have a chance but my mom fed her with barley grass from the health food store with some plain yogurt and she survived. It was a miracle.

Oh I'm so sorry for the loss of your gorgeous baby! Kidney failure is a horrible disease, and I'm so thankful that we can end or pets suffering. What you did was the most selfless thing we can do for our pets. He was such a pretty boy and lucky to have you as his mom.

I'm pretty sure that Friskies Canned food is not very good for cats, but is it better than Royal Canin's Dried food? I know that Canned foods are way better than dried, but Royal Canin(or so I read) seems to be much healthier than Friskies(Purina). Anybody please reply with suggestions of good cat foods for my friend who's gonna get a cat soon!
"crystalizedcrayons" Vets usually recommend Science Diet pet food, though it costs too much to buy it from them. I use it for my 6 cats, but I buy it at Tractor Supply, or Petco, where it's still high but more reasonable. It takes less food to feed this brand, because it doesn't have crap in it, so the price is worth the quality in the end.

Just an example, the freshwater fish from China is known to carry an excessive amount of malachite green which is a carcinogen! Most sea food contain heavy metal because of industrial pollution.

So, so sorry. What a beautiful cat. Iams used to be a good food until they went into chain stores, then to become cost effective they had to start using cheaper ingredients. I have come to the conclusion I would rather put out my money on better foods than vet bills or have to go through this situation. Wellmess, Royal Canin, Newman's organics and Flint River Ranch are good foods. Sometimes I make my own from grass-fed beef and chicken. Research online for all.
I'm sorry to see the pain that you have gone through. We went through the same exact thing and everything your cat displays it what ours did too. And I worry that it will hit the human population soon. our dog has kidney failure from pet food recall,we are fighting this through with our dog and it is an emotional rollar coaster. our vet bill is over $5000 now and it's not over. if you don't have that kind of money (and we don't really) our vet advised we put our dog to sleep because if we took him home he would die an excruciating death. kidneys can't repair themselves with a special diet. kidney failure is a death sentence without lots of expensive treatments.

I am sorry for your loss. We were lucky to save our yellow lab Gigi. The vet told us she didn't have a chance but my mom fed her with barley grass from the health food store with some plain yogurt and she survived. It was a miracle.

Oh I'm so sorry for the loss of your gorgeous baby! Kidney failure is a horrible disease, and I'm so thankful that we can end or pets suffering. What you did was the most selfless thing we can do for our pets. He was such a pretty boy and lucky to have you as his mom.

What a lovely tribute to Mao and your love for him. Thank you for sharing this with us. It's little consolation, but you can rest assured that you did your very best for him, and putting him to sleep was a great and selfless kindness on your part. Personally I am convinced our beloved animal companions will be there to greet us when it's our time to leave this world, but even if folks don't share this conviction, at least it's clear that you and Mao both were the better for knowing each other.

My "almost" Russian Blue, "Old Man" was FIV+ (Feline AIDS), was sent to the Rainbow Bridge April 9th, 2007 after finally losing his strength. He was a beautiful neighborhood Tom, I took in after seeing him injured again, with no one to care. FIV is transmitted by cat bites, usually among Tom's left to roam and breed. Bless your heart honey, I cry with you. Mao was a big beautiful boy, a handsome fuzzybutt. His purring in pain speaks for his love for you. You did the best you could do, and he forgives you, because you saved him from suffering. Mao is at peace and forever in your memories. I'm pretty sure that Friskies Canned food is not very good for cats, but is it better than Royal Canin's Dried food? I know that Canned foods are way better than dried, but Royal Canin(or so I read) seems to be much healthier than Friskies(Purina). Anybody please reply with suggestions of good cat foods for my friend who's gonna get a cat soon!

"crystalizedcrayons" Vets usually recommend Science Diet pet food, though it costs too much to buy it from them. I use it for my 6 cats, but I buy it at Tractor Supply, or Petco, where it's still high but more reasonable. It takes less food to feed this brand, because it doesn't have crap in it, so the price is worth the quality in the end.

Thanks to the corrupt totalitarian mainland chinese communist government in China, toxic food has seldom be checked. Every year, there are many food related poisoning in Hong Kong. We are badly affected and yet the world does not know!
Just an example, the freshwater fish from China is known to carry an excessive amount of malachite green which is a carcinogen! Most sea food contain heavy metal because of industrial pollution.

So, so sorry. What a beautiful cat. Iams used to be a good food until they went into chain stores, then to become cost effective they had to start using cheaper ingredients. I have come to the conclusion I would rather put out my money on better foods than vet bills or have to go through this situation. Wellmess, Royal Canin, Newman's organics and Flint River Ranch are good foods. Sometimes I make my own from grass-fed beef and chicken. Research online for all.

I'm sorry to see the pain that you have gone through. We went through the same exact thing and everything your cat displays it what ours did too. And I worry that it will hit the human population soon. It went from cats to dogs, then pigs... and I am sure before all is said and done, Americans will soon become ill with "unexplainable" sicknesses. Pray for our pets and pray for us all.

our dog has kidney failure from pet food recall,we are fighting this through with our dog and it is an emotional rollar coaster. our vet bill is over $5000 now and it's not over. if you don't have that kind of money (and we don't really) our vet advised we put our dog to sleep because if we took him home he would die an excruciating death. kidneys can't repair themselves with a special diet. kidney failure is a death sentence without lots of expensive treatments.
