  • Was that skyhook or just plain landyard connected?

  • What happened to the main in the first place? Didnt look like a line over but the canopy wasnt square?

  • What caused the initial spin - looks like bad end cell closure as you opened straight ahead?

Do you still jump with an RSL - ended up with some good reserve line twists there. Good save.

  • RSL? no grazie!!!

  • @maxrio67 Agreed. I would take the view that if you cannot trust yourself to pull two handles in 5 - 10 secs you should be doing something else with your time.

  • That looks a lot like my first cutaway. Reserve line twists included.

  • what a hell, so many twists on the reserve deployment !

  • R.S.L.?

  • nice job with it

  • when the reserve opens twisted you use your legs, right? I was twisted on my first jump (until now the only one) with static line, and act like that. (cutaway was not nessesery)

  • Actually, it was. When you are a student you use big canopies they are much easier to handle, and docile. When a smaller high performance canopy starts to twist its a lot more violent and sometimes impossible to kick out. Also the twists happened after the canopy opened which suggests that there was something wrong with it in the first place, its hard to tell what exactly, but at 0.08 the canopy is open properly. it twists after opening.

  • I ment that the cutaway was not nessecery in my case. About the guy in the video, it was. Of cource there is a huge difference between line twist at studen canopies and high performance canopies. Note that the second opens different and at high speeds, while a twist is very common at s/l. I had a second s/l jump, and the line was so twisted that i was trying to kick out from 3.500f to 1000f (but of course the canopy wasn't spinning)

  • Yeah i know what thats like, i started skydiving on static line too ^^ keep it up jump as often as you can, its a hard sport to get into, but once you are in there is no stopping you :D Also pull the risers apart when u kick if you didnt know that already ^^

  • i do know. Tell me, how much a freefall jump from 10000f and how much a s/l jump costs there? (in my skydiving school an s/l is about 62 euros)

  • We dont do static line in australia, a hop and pop from 4000ft is 15 dollars (australian) and from 14000ft if you are using your own equipment is 35 dollars. When i learnt in ireland 5 years ago i believe it was £30 for one jump from 4000ft s/l and i cant remember what 14000ft was, i think it was £25 :S static line is always expensive though, but it is cheaper than doing AFF

  • Greece is expensive.

  • rubbish mate i live in QLD and i jump at ripcord skydivers and we do static line jumpis for 95 dollars

  • 95 dollars is pretty steep for a single static line jump -_-

  • @droznig Static Line sucks.

  • bravo nice job

  • What was that on your main that caused it to spin? Line-over?

  • uhhh...... looks like you were still spinning when you pulled the reserve! As long as you walked away its all good though. Stable body position is kinda important, especially on reserve!

  • No! He had both handles in his hand! Bad Job! Take a second or two for stabilizing before pulling the reserve! A reserve parachute is not very usefull when you will inpact to ground while hanging under it with line twists... just a tip.

  • I only saw one handle pulled, not sure though. Looks like an RSL job to me.

  • omg, thats nasty.

    blue skies

  • Now that's why you don't rush pulling your reserve. Keep good formation then pull it to avoid those nasty entanglements.
