  • nice gpu, i have the same :)

  • My Oblivion just crashes on startup

  • Linux is better, i like being able to customize my operating system to the highest levels of detail

  • Yeah, but you have to type long commands to the terminal. I've got too much thumbs to use Linux full-time.

  • @RetroShinigami For the lulz

  • Fuck this shit i hate linux. its for fucking pedos. i wish i never fucking got it

  • @zombierehab it takes time to learn but once done you become a self-taught guru.

  • MASSIVE performance loss under the shitty bug ridden wine. As you can tell.

  • @xyz98741 lol Obviously, Linux sucks

  • @MrNumeroid

    >implying Linux sucks

  • @cthulhu2e implied - Suggested without being stated directly

Yeah, I pretty much said directly that Linux sucks

  • LOL The resolution is DEFINITELY 800x600.

If you use the same video card on Windows, you can easily run it at 1680x1050 or higher under ULTRA settings. What a joke.

  • okay,it still runs BUT im back to windows xp.

what about mythbuntu?some referees on it?

    bye,Sonja

  • I have a PC with Linux Ubuntu 10.10, Intel Core2Duo 1.6 GHz, 1 GB ram and 256mb intel gma!

GTA 3 is very slow on my PC, will I did something wrong in configuration? I need to install DirectX 9 on Wine?

  • @renatoprofilebrazil

You already have directX 9 installed. It look like you need upgrade RAM and Video card. I would got Geforce 9800 and 4 GB RAM for better picture and smooth.

  • @renatoprofilebrazil

becouse your setup isnt good enough, 1 gb wont cut it

  • @renatoprofilebrazil Windows runs GTA 3 flawlessly. Use it. Prick.

  • does this work with the steam version of oblivion game of the year edition, also has anyone gotten sacred 2 fallen angel to run with WINE

  • help me what do i type in help

  • what do i type in i cant see it

  • hello i am having trouble when ever i try to open it up with the exe or sh it opens but it closes and my desktop is stuck at 640*480 resolution please help.

  • how will i install "oblivion" on linux kubuntu?

    need held,pls!

  • @OceanTango1 You just need Wine :) And if that doesn't work, PlayOnLinux might work, but try Wine first :)

  • this looks cool. nice vid dude :)

no fullscreen?? if there isn't - can you at least increase the size of the window?

  • yes you can

  • o okay cool thanks man :)

  • and you can also play fullscreen if you so like :D

  • yeah, i cant get oblivion to run, the loading starts up i press play and the screen flashes then nothing happens

  • Same problem... ;_;

  • @IbeeejayI Did you ever get this to run cause i'm having the same problem?

  • @spizec Its been a while but I think I did get it to run but not on WINE.

  • Poor performances with my GeForce 8300 GS (as expected), I only managed to run it at reasonable FPS at 800x600 and it still lags a lot when I'm outside in the grass (all I can do is blindly cast spells XD).

  • that's pretty good my geforce 8500 ran bad in windows 640 x 480

  • works perfectly on my ubuntu 8.10

  • Cool! I'm getting linux. The hell with XP!!

  • Can I use Oldblivion on linux also?

  • It crashed with seg fault for me, and I think other people also have reported the same thing. I haven't looked in to the thing.

  • Can I do this with Oldblivion too?

  • yes! i can play my favorite game on ubuntu!

  • this is some good shit

  • nice work.5!!!!

  • your fps looks a bit shaky for your system specs, but I assume that's because you're having so much I/O recording this video.. When you're not recording, is it drastically smoother? Or are there still framestudders?

Also, are you playing this with everything cranked to the max settings, or what?

  • i play oblivion in full screen. Perfect graphic better of widows -.-

  • Ehh i prefer linux to windows also but how can it be better graphics ? or did you mean that it ran better on linux?

  • Yeah, I also wonder what he meant. I guess he meant to say that it runs better and with higher graphics in Windows?

  • I'm pretty sure he meant that he can play full screen in wondows... ^^

Well some guys have really high common sense XD

  • im new to hardy xubuntu and im trying to play wow...i have wine and wow installed...but it doesnt work is there ne1 that could send me a message or something preferably baby steps :) lol

  • hmm... sweet. one question: can WoW be run under wine?

  • WoW can run PERFECTLY under wine

  • Yeah, it runs very good when you activate OpenGL instead of DirectX in WoW!

  • WoW usually runs BETTER under WINE than actual Windows.

  • What are you talking about? I have this game and it runs much better on windows. Pretty similar specs.

  • Astrapogiannos14, what game are you talking about? WoW or Oblivion?

Of course Oblivion runs better in Windows because it uses DirectX 9 and is heavily dependent on the GPU.

There is a very high probability that WoW runs better because it uses OpenGL and is very CPU dependent.

So please tell me what game you are talking about. ;)

  • Ah i though he said Wow as in Wow this runs much better on linux. not wow(world of warcraft).

On the topic: You are of course reffering to the mac version of Wow right?

  • Now, I'm talking about the Windows version of WoW, running through Wine.

  • Proof?

  • I don't have any proof, all I said was that it was a high probability because of it's use of OpenGL (no OpenGL-> DirectX calls in Wine = better performance) and that it is very CPU dependent (you can play WoW with a quite bad GPU if you have a nice CPU). I don't play WoW so I can't do any benchmark. But I didn't claim that IT IN FACT PERFORMS better.

  • mac version runs on linux?

  • No, no Mac binaries run in Linux.

  • so there is some performance increase on older directx and cpu dependent games?

  • Oblivion runs great in Wine now!.

I have posted a capture with sound playing hide and seek with the guards of anvil :)

  • wow even with recording it looks playable. AMAZING

  • to bad i have an ati witch provide bad drivers :(

BTW do you need to install directx also via wine?

installed it with wine-doors but doesnt help much, yes hope for new drivers soon I and for DRI2 :)

  • Anyone who bitches about "dropped frames" in this vid is totally fucking dumbass. You cannot make any judgment on dropped frames on a goddamn youtube video--not if you know a thing about the compression process. Great vid. Thanks for the post. Fuck Micro$hit.

  • Thanks! Recording a video in 1680x1050 resolution to the OS harddrive while playing a graphics-intense 3D-game require some serious juice from the computer. :)

  • Can it be ran decently at full screen??

  • Well, you should expect a lower framerate than in Windows, but yeah, it should run decently in fullscreen. The reason I play the game in a "virtual desktop" is because I like to multitask. :)

  • FPS looks bad...

  • Well, it might have to do with the fact that I record with a 1680x1050 resolution and saving the file on the system disc. : )

  • I'm looking into getting linux and morrowind/oblivion are the only games I play. Is it true that WINE doesn't support HDR, AA, and obse mods?

  • wine has nothing to do with mods or software

it's a compatibility layer, it runs pretty much everything
