  • This may "look" nice, but the fabrication is entirely inadequate and will be a hygiene nightmare for the patient. The ridge fabrication needs to be convex and highly polished so as to not be a chronic food trap. The reason the front incisor was not placed in the fabrication was actually a result of inappropriate implant placement. It will likely fall or break chronically and will always have to be replaced when this prosthesis is removed and cleaned, which will absolutely be necessary frequently.

Well with your rock-bottom, bargain-basement prices, maybe average everyday "Joe" schmucks should consider fixed-hybrid dentures, deals like that are unheard of!

Of course, if you were like my general dentist who specifically hired a marketing team to help him procure 'blank-cheque' Government contracts for Federal Employees, then you could basically charge whatever you want.

Federal Insurance paid for my uppers, 6 implants+hybrid arch=$72,000

    Quality takes serious tax-payer cash.

  • @DeptOfLawEnforcement

I love that Radiation Chart on your blog tho!

  • These cases don't need to cost $50,000 to a patient. If i do upper and lowers including 3D CT scans, extractions, sedation, Nobel Active Implants, Multi Unit Abutments which make these cases much better, Milled Procera Bars direct from Nobel Biocare, Ivoclar Blue Line Teeth, with Ivocap acrylic..... All the best material and all genuine Nobel parts, Including Surgical Guides from Nobel, Anatomage, or analog guides..... Do a couple of them a week for folks for as little as $18k an arch.

  • I do those hybrid dentures too but the metal frame work is custom made after the teeth try in to ensure optimal support through the whole denture!

  • Don't knock foreign dentists. A few years back, I met a lady who was getting her teeth done in Costa Rica. She had really bad teeth, they were all missing, broken, yellowed, rotted, etc. OK i asked if I could see her when she got back. I did and she had the most beautiful smile. She was in her 40's looked 55 b4, but looked 28 after new teeth. Yes, medicaid and more programs should pay. At least let anyone in need set up payment plans. Sad that it costs so much here in the USA

  • You can buy a Yugo or a Lexus. The choice is yours.

  • It is totally wrong to criticize the work of another dentist just because he lives in another country. For that reason, I would NEVER go to disadental. Also, even a layman can see that there is no way to clean food away that gets under the concave denture hybrid. I don't see any advantage over regular implants.

Insurance and even Medicare and Medicaid SHOULD pay for implants because when you loose your teeth, then the bone ridge from wearing dentures, you can't eat!

  • I had my work done in Costa Rica. Work was superior and YES cheaper (1/3 of the cost in USA) and in high tech environment. So, please stop the USA propaganda against dental work in CR it is unfair and unfounded.

  • @munozrosie

I'm getting my upper snap-in hybrid placed for the first time next week, I had 6 implants placed in my upper palate a year ago and 1 Zarcona implant for a missing tooth on my lower jaw, total cost = $72,000 all-inclusive (meaning, no additional fees) plus they will be my dentists for the next 2 years.

Of course, in reality it didn't cost me a cent, Federal Government paid for it (err, the American tax-payers, I mean) I guess being in Law Enforcement does have its rewards.

  • This is a prime example of what happens when you don't use a surgical guide.

the fact that you put this up shows you don't know what you're doing.

sorry to rain on your Hybrid.

  • all these dentist are hating because they know they overcharge

  • @fognog3 true that. They would have so many more clients if they'd make it more affordable. Right now, in this economy only about .000001 % of the population can afford it ,even in a good economy they can't. Please make these procedures more affordable!

  • @fognog3

I am a dentist and I am proud of what I charge. Look around your self, compare dentistry with any other professions, we dentists are worth every penny we charge and more.

Why people think that dentists should do charity work whilst all other professionals with a fraction of education, responsibility, accountability and expertise, charge what ever they like.

Lets face it a plumber with a Ferrari is a very successful businessman but a Dentist with a Ferrari is a greedy individual.

  • Comment removed

  • Thats why I get my dental work done in mexico! And I think anyone that drives a ferrari is a greedy asshole

  • @fognog3 - I agree! lol

  • @fognog3 You have to realize that the dentist in this country is paying much higher in lab costs, employee wages, insurance premiums, taxes, student loan payments etc. With a higher overhead he is bound to charge more. Not to mention you are exposing yourself to a higher risk of having diseases transmitted (hep. C, HIV........) due to shoddy (and often) absent sterilization practices in third world countries. When it comes to your health don't let finances solely drive your choices.

  • The whole medical profession is an overpaid industry. If your not saving someone's life, your not worth what you charge. How come in other countries it is cheaper? You can say quality of work, but i am quite confident that dentists in the US are not the only ones capable of doing this.

  • @BobT427 you don´t know waht you´re talking about i´m a dentist and I´m telling you the lab fees and materials are amazingly expensive...

  • @BobT427

Well, if your employer is the Federal Government and your seniority is established, the tax-payers flip the bill.

Of course you're right, most overseas dentists are just as good, 99% of them were trained here in the US.

But instead of just complaining, why not join your local Law Enforcement agency, full medical/dental benefits are included and you don't have to travel out of the country to get your dental work done.

When somebody else is paying for it, why not stay in the US??

  • @illmarigt how many regular teachers do you see with a ferrari ? i think that is the main issue...dental work needs to be done for health reasons, yet dentists can refuse treatment to individuals who can not afford it. if an emergency room tech. refused to treat someone under similar circumstance, or a teacher refused to have a poor student in their class, they would go to court and possible jail time for it. i lost most of my teeth to cancer/ cancer related issues, and can't afford what i need

  • @Vampkiki i work now, but insurance no longer will cover me for a reasonable rate. you want to charge that, fine. but no business ever made it without being reasonable and charitable. lawyers will even work for free given the right circumstances...and don't tell me they still don't make good money.

  • Hi my name is Sybil and I really need help with my teeth! I was dx with MS and the medication Im on rots out my teeth and I have no Insurance and can't afford any kind of Denistry...:((( PLEASE somebody HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can brush 100 times a day and I still have bad breath!!!!!!!!!!!! HELP ME PLEASEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :'((( Email Me BlossomRedd@aol.com Thanlks!!!!!!!

  • 21 should have been cross pinned for palatal access ... the tissue areas should have been convex and either full zirconia or titanium for oral hygene.

$52K is on the money ... there is alot of work in one of these I KNOW because I'm a Master Dental Technician !! the lab fee on one of these including genuine parts should be about $15 - 20K if done correctly.

  • multiple things wrong here, one should have used angled abutment as stated, two these both are hygene disasters. no ability to clean tissue surfaces. should be convex surfaces not concave. plus I beleive wich is personal preference you should leave some verticle room for hygen on lower and do metal belly frame with buccal and raised lingual finish lines. Acrylis i have found on the tissue is more difficult to clean and absorbes odor horribly bad especially when it can not be properly cleaned.

  • I have been quoted at $52,000 for this procedure in Georgia, USA. For upper and lower arch. It is VERY expensive, and is not covered by insurance. Fantastic surgery if you have the cash/credit. I do know that some of the clinics in other countries have done amazing work, but I wouldn't leave my home country to have anything done. I just wouldn't feel comfortable.

  • Sure you can have it done in Costa Rica!!!!!!

You can also buy your food from the 99cent store!!!

There is a reason why it is cheaper is CostaRica....because the quality is shit!!!!!!

  • Why you didn't choose an angeled abutment for no.21?

  • Comment removed

  • cost?

  • Lab fee= +- $6500 (mostly implants parts and cost of gold that push up the price!)

Do not know doctor fee ??????

  • Can they use your dentures r do they have to make a new set? also is this the price for set?

  • @disadental ~ Is that SIXTY-FIVE THOUSAND dollars?

  • @disadental Is that for upper and lower?
