Conservatives tend to commit the fundamental attribution error and forget that social, cultural and economic pressures have an immense affect on children as they mature. A child born into a white, middle class family has a greater chance of going to college and succeeding in life than do his counterparts of differing backgrounds. We need to stop acting as if all children are born onto a level playing field and end the cruel practice of social darwinism.

I know it sounds played out but we black schools typically tend to be underfunded because much of funding comes from property taxes and some originates from private donors. There is a reason a school like Carrol in Southlake, Texas has better teachers and better programs.
Do something for me, go to a PTA meeting at a Black school, then attend a PTA meeting at a so-called white school. You'll see a huge difference in Parent participation. Home is where it starts. The funding argument has been debunk, so please search for a new excuse.
In Washington funding has been directly correlated with standardized testing scores. A friend of mine is involved in research which has produced mounds of evidence to back this up. We're revamping standardized testing and moving towards fully federalized school funding because it has been proven that a link exists between funding and success rates. And where are your facts for 1% consuming 90%? I do know 1% of the taxpayers pay 40% of the entire tax burden.
And when rich people consume (say, a house or boat) it creates jobs for laborers. That's how free market enterprise works, and an example of how our economy is not static.
Where all this job growth is going on? It's not happening in the USA. The pie grows, but I think you are over estimating the rate at which it expands and to who the spoils go.

Where as the income of the upper income earners has ballooned about 800%, just since the Bush administration. Rising tides have not lifted all boats for the past 8 years at the very least.
Again, where are your facts to back this up? What do you consider middle class? Im not saying the pie is growing now, but that doesnt mean it doesnt grow. The policies we are implementing (raising income/cap gains taxes, heavy government spending) are not conducive to investing or job creation.

Estate taxes are only paid when an estate is passed on. Aside from income, people of any bracket very rarely pay these taxes. Im not sure what you are trying to prove.

The economy during the Bush administration 2000-2006 was one of the best economies our country has seen, with the stock market nearing 13,000 points.
Then came the democrats taking over congress. From 2006-2008 (with a democrat run congress) the economy started to tank.
From the time Obama took office in November, 2008, until March of 2009, the economy dropped more in just 4 months that it did for 4 years under the Bush administration.
Now, under Obama the stock market is nearing 1995 trends

Conservatives tend to commit the fundamental attribution error and forget that social, cultural and economic pressures have an immense affect on children as they mature. A child born into a white, middle class family has a greater chance of going to college and succeeding in life than do his counterparts of differing backgrounds. We need to stop acting as if all children are born onto a level playing field and end the cruel practice of social darwinism.

You're half-right, socioeconomic backgrounds help determine outcomes but so does race; specifically black. I know it sounds played out but we black schools typically tend to be underfunded because much of funding comes from property taxes and some originates from private donors. There is a reason a school like Carrol in Southlake, Texas has better teachers and better programs.

In Washington funding has been directly correlated with standardized testing scores. A friend of mine is involved in research which has produced mounds of evidence to back this up. We're revamping standardized testing and moving towards fully federalized school funding because it has been proven that a link exists between funding and success rates. Parent involvement is key as well but why should children suffer at the hands of bad parenting,which by the way has nothing to do with race you bigot

Che didn't execute innocent civilians, he killed former Batista party members because they had proven themselves "counter-revolutionary". Think of the economy as a pie. It is a finite thing, now it grows but at any given time there is only so much that can come out of said economy.
Right now we have 1% of our population consuming 90% of the wealth.
People want to work and the example you cite are the exception to humans not the rule.

That is jus simply untrue. The economy is dynamic and it grows. Each job creation creates more wealth that gets spread into various sectors, growing the pie.
And where are your facts for 1% consuming 90%? I do know 1% of the taxpayers pay 40% of the entire tax burden.
And when rich people consume (say, a house or boat) it creates jobs for laborers. That's how free market enterprise works, and an example of how our economy is not static.

For example, the wages of the middle class have been stagnant for about 30 years, not quite keeping with inflation. Where as the income of the upper income earners has ballooned about 800%, just since the Bush administration. Rising tides have not lifted all boats for the past 8 years at the very least.

Ugh...for some reason tou keep insisting to imagine the tax system as simply the federal income tax brackets. However, what I've repeatedly said is that this leaves out such taxes as payroll tax, which does not generally increase as you make more.... therefore meaning it is disproportionately paid by the middle class.
Once again, just because the # of dollars you paid was higher than me doesn't mean you paid the percentage you really should pay.

What % should they pay. Payroll taxes are the Federal Income plus Medicare/Social Security, so Im not sure how your'e saying payroll is different from income taxes. And even with any flat tax added in, such as sales tax or property tax, the total tax bill for wealthier will be more and poorer will be less.
I think you just personally want to soak the rich, because it will make you feel better. But, it wont give you anymore money, and you'll still be complaining.

Yes they are different. There are many different federal taxes that are each paid differently by different groups. Again, this is why although the federal individual income tax was lowered (although very modestly for the bottom 60%) the burden of the middle and lower classes still increased as the structure of the other federal taxes didn't change.
And don't even start with that "wealth envy" bullshit. That's such ignorant fox news shit that has no academic basis.

Of course bottom rates werent lowered much, they werent very high to begin with. What other Federal taxes are you talking about? How are payroll taxes different from income taxes, unless you are including FICA, and FICA is such a small amount, it wont raise any "burden."
And I can say wealth envy all day because its true. You still havent shown any facts or figures to back up your arguments, so saying mine lacks an "academic" basis has no bearing.

there is individual income tax, corporate income tax, excise tax, estate & gift tax, etc. So when you pay your taxes you pay your individual income tax, then if needed corporate income tax, and so forth. Since this is the case, each tax has a different distribution of who pays the most and by what percentage.
I haven't shown any "facts" or "figures"? Are you blind? I've consistently used academic literature on the tax structure as support.

Yeah, aside from income tax, none of those are payroll taxes. Corp income is the 2nd largest in the industrialized world (39%), so Im not sure how much more you want it to be. Gift and estate taxes are both types of excise taxes, and those are only paid. Most gifts can be exempted, and the taxed are on gifts over $20,000. Estate taxes are only paid when an estate is passed on. Aside from income, people of any bracket very rarely pay these taxes. Im not sure what you are trying to prove.

What the hell are you talking about? I never said any of those are payroll taxes aside from payroll tax. They are just some of the different types of federal taxes that I listed to illustrate that payroll taxes are just one of many federal taxes, and thus not the same thing as individual income tax.
Ya, you're totally right...economics and sociology research doesn't use any stats at all...that makes tons of sense.
