  • I train with with Foleys martials arts, Pedro comes a few times a year to test our students. i have been training for 2 years. Honestly one of the best experiences of my life. and meeting pedro was incredible. he is an amazing person. keep training man..and i agree you cant give out to much information, like pedro says...just leave a seed and let it grow.

  • looks like a some Pedro Sauer techniques...who do you train under? nice video btw, but i think you should explain a little more about getting the arm out in side control, also to avoid knees...just keep your head low....but then again everyone will say what about getting poked in the eyes.... looking forward to some new videos. I train under pedro Sauer and like to see some of his techniques being used...and being modified. thanks

  • @maruj666 I've been under Pedro and Tony Rinaldi (Pedro black belt) for a little more than 7 years now. In the end, there's only so much you can give to people when it's going to be their only experience with BJJ. You get too detailed...they end up not remembering anything. Just wanted to give them a basic idea of some moves. Thanks for watching. Where do you train with Pedro?

  • karate blackbelt sure... bjj black belt no chance... 2 stripe white tops

  • @ChrisMLeeByrne What are you talking about? At the time I was a 4 stripe blue, teaching a seminar to karate students. The instructor asked that I wear my karate black belt for the seminar. I think he just didn't want to be shown up by a guy wearing a lesser rank. But if you ever want to test my skill...you're more than welcome to come to ohio and try. I love getting my ass kicked...gives me a chance to learn. But i love winning just as much. Come on in ohiobjj.com

  • @sgtjonesiniraq lol fair enough i guess... blue under who thou??... im just saying how you are wording stuff doesnt sound blue belt... u drive the head down with your shouldar to stop them from a bite? putting your head down, is to stop from poking your eyes.... i thought it was for base ... but your side control looks nice and tight.... nice mount and hip movement.. but im not flying to ohio for youtube. you can come here ... just a purple talkin cheers.

  • @ChrisMLeeByrne Wording stuff? You're a total douche. If you actually learned how to use what you're learning for self defense, you might understand what I'm teaching. Driving your shoulder turns their head, in sport...that makes it difficult for them to escape toward you. In self defense...the same movement stops a person from biting you. Read descriptions...stop being such a faggot noob. By the way...I'm now (3years after this was posted) a 4 stripe purple under Master Pedro Sauer. That's who

  • @ChrisMLeeByrne Wow, this is jiu jitsu show some fucking respect we are all practicioners of the same thing asshole, and you are so ignorant, driving your shoulder down turns their head making it much more uncomfortable for them and harder for them to turn into you or do much, it creates perfect pressure, i'm thinking maybe you should go to a different Bjj gym because you clearly don't know much at all for a purple belt.

  • i can just put my hand were his balls are, or her vagina is then punch the balls or stick my finger in her vagina

  • 0:16 underhook holding lat - they can trap your arm.

  • Sure, that could certainly happen. If you do it poorly or with incorrect timing you could get darce choked too. But that doesn't make it wrong. Just means that there is a counter. But that's true of every move.

  • You're definitely wiser than me in BJJ but just speaking from what I know by theory, you're bettter off reaching as far across his back as possible, to his left shoulder, rather than aiming for the lat.

  • That's not really a good idea. That just sets you up to get hit with a darce choke from this position. Not only that the opponent could wizzer down and grab your opposite elbow, pinning you badly. Proping against the lat allows you to create distance between you and your opponent while maintaing a connection with them. Of course, this is how I prefer to do it. The basic rule of thumb in BJJ is always, if it works for you, then it's correct.

  • thanks for the reply and explanations... cheers... I agree with the basic rule!

  • Thanks for watching!!!

  • que merda e essa ???

  • gay at 1:23

  • bjj is good for potential rape victims

  • i have learned this technique in taekwondo class. I feel confused about bjj, it seems like the only time you need to know it is if your opponet knows it. I take a tkd class that teaches just as much ground defense as strikes and i feel confident that i know enough to stop a common thug.

Also i have a question for someone with bjj experience. how do you fight 2 attackers at oncce? it seems like grappling 2 people would be really hard.

  • All very good points. I believe you're correct. In the first 6 months of BJJ training you learn more than enough to defeat anyone who doesn't know the ground. But the same could be said of any martial art. You should always train to defeat the stronger, faster, and better opponent. TKD, Karate, BJJ...doesn't matter. The multiple opponent thing doesn't bother me. The people that can really defeat two or more people are far fewer than you'd expect. Most people are over confident.

  • i am proabably going to take a bjj class in addition to my current classes. only time i wouldnt go straight to the ground is if maybe im in a city where there could be gravel, hard concrete, broken glass, or god knows what on the ground. its deffenently important to know what to do if you opponet makes you go down.

  • All valid points. I agree.

  • I think you need to be more educated. Bjj has been proven itself to be the dominant martial arts for the past 15 years. Everyone that is a real professional MMA fighter "NEEDS" to know jiujitsu (not tkd). Don't diss jiujitsu, if u want to diss then im 100% sure a blue belt can take out a tkd black belt. Thats why you will never see a guy come into the ufc with just tkd or stand upskills. ANother thing, tkd is weak now a days its a sport for points and if someone grabs u, your screwed.

  • i was not dissing bjj at all, i love bjj, it turns out i have been learning bits and pieces of it for 4 years, along wiht judo. I learned a few months ago that i am technically learning mixed martial arts although primarly taekwondo. And anybody who has a jj blue belt should not be mugging somebody. and clearly you did not read all my points, as i said jj wins in tournaments on that nice flat floor with no weapons. And besides, i have been brainwashed for years to thin jj is god, im from brazil.

  • when the fight happens your adrenaline is so jacked you dont even notice the difference. i got attacked by this guy at a bar six months ago and i took his back and rnc his ass. when i got up i noticed i was cut but i didnt feel it.

  • Soooo TRUE! And I got into an argument with an internet thug that couldnt believe that I had multiple apponents and couldnt use my Jujitsu and had to rely on TKD/Kickboxing/Hapkido and Akido skills. Even when I had to mount in a fight I couldnt lock on because of the crowd. I didnt know who was coming so I did a ground and pound to watch if others came in but non did. If I locked to an arm id be stomped into the dirt and the only way to keep them at bay was to let them know i was alert mounted.

  • its actually very easy to grapple two opponents a once if you get the on the ground you can get one in a body triangle while getting the other in a rear naked choke

  • yeah, i dont think thats gunna happen

  • It's retarded remarks like this that make BJJ players look stupid. Grappling is a 1 on 1 sport.

  • ive been doin bjj for 30 years at gracie institutes im a black belt and we put on scenarios when its 2 on 1 so dont write stupid remarks if you dont know everything

  • Gracie institutes for 30 years? Maybe you can inform us what Gracie instiute you were going to 30 years ago when there was no bjj in the states?

And you a blackbelt? my instructor is a Carlson Gracie blackbelt and after 20+ years in bjj(in brazil) is a 3rd degree bb. After 30 years of bjj you must be at least a 4th degree bb. since all bb's are listed on the gracie website and the very few 4th degree bb's that there are are very well known, why dont you tell us who you are?

  • Goddamn! Busted like a BITCH! Good call.

  • lol owned.

  • and it says that he's 28 on his profile.. so he must be training as a sperm in his daddies balls?

  • owned him, haha

  • Wow, you've been training since you were negative two years old. Nice work; might as well start while you're still semen!

  • LMAOOO training since negative 2 years old, thats classic, fuck ur stupid

  • The basics of grappling are vital for both sports and self-defence, however.

  • your a blk belt lol from that statment sounds like youve never even rolled in your life, easy to grapple 2 opponents lol maybe in your dreams

  • in general your not usuing this to fight off a purse snatcher bro

  • what would you be using it for then? i have been confronted with many "purse snatchers" and fought them off with tkd, and i know feel confident in bjj to use that. Although i know own a gun (they arent very hard to get here, i have heard the same about U.S. but i wont assume) most of my attackers cannot get guns, and usually just use knives to fight me.

  • yeah sure u get into knife fights and shit.. stfu

  • i never said knife fight u cockblaster. i got cuts and scrapes from the concrete.

  • I'm watching this to improve my Ne Waza skills. I'm at heart a Judo guy, but I barely started 4 weeks ago. But that's okay, ya gotta start somewhere.

  • is that simply a clock choke from side mount or does it have a specific name?

  • We fall it the Bread and Butter Choke. But it could just as easily be called a clock choke.

  • The biggest challenge I have is how to takedown and submit a MUCH heavier, much taller opponent.

If a freak-of-nature is 60 pounds heavier, and 6 inches taller than me, if he sprawls well on a double leg takedown attempt, I am toast.

I find clinching a MUCH taller opponent puts me at such a disadvantage.

Then, on the ground, unless my technique is WAY better (which it seldom is), giving up 60 pounds is too much.

Any suggestions for a MUCH bigger opponent ?

    Thanks !

  • A much bigger opponent is always tough. Especially if he's fast, strong and atheletic. If he's a wrestler, your best bet in turning him over is going to be from the half guard. This is because his natural tendency is going to be stand from there. But mostly, bide your time. His size will make him confident. Wait for him to make the mistake if you can.

  • Thanks for your response.

With your multi-discipline experience, maybe you could post a vid of your approach to a MUCH heavier MUCH taller opponent.

From how you close the gap (given his striking reach advantage), your preferred takedown(s) (very low single leg is my preferred method for a much bigger guy, but maybe I am wrong), and your finishing on the ground.

I am thinking a choke or a heel hook (his neck and ankles are just as vulnerable, no matter how big he is).

    Thanks !!!

  • if u met a stronger and bigger opponent, use GUN. :)

  • idiot

  • when he goes for the takedown go into a choke when he's got ur leg use one fo ur legs to take him down by putting ur leg behind his leg and push a little forward then u get on top.

  • that might be it...

  • Watch the Bob Sapp vs. Minotauro Nogueira fight from Pride. It's on youtube. It was a battle but in the end, technique won.

  • This video may be entitled "basic" techniques, but these are bread-and-butter techniques with ALOT of attention to detail.

Sometimes in my haste to do a more complex technique I overlook the basics.

    Great post !

  • Thanks. I agree 100%. The details are so important. That's the great thing about being under Professor Sauer and Tony Rinaldi. They are so focused on being technical and never skipping details.
