Eddie was a close friend of Buddy and it hit him hard, when he recorded this tribute song he kept breaking down in tears so had to do several takes. The recording studio had to put together the many takes to result in the final that you hear now! :-(

He & Buddy were close, & from what I understand, he had to leave the booth after the recording to be alone, & then came back in & told the producer if he released that, he'd never record for him again. So Tommy Dee had the released version. Eddie never really recovered from Buddy's death.
