It's awfuly funny to see Montgomery County liberals complaining when the government clear cuts a bunch of trees in their backyard. What happened to our great government being a protector of the environment. I thought that was the job of government to protect the environment from the evil real estate developers. Well, this is big government at work. The same big government that funded the massive housing boom of the 2000-2007 era. Even today look at the new round of unnecessary building.
We are just doing a job that the government has hired us to do. Have you ever heard the saying don't shoot the messenger? We are not the enemy we are just doing our job to the best of our ability!
You Had 47 Years to stop this project while it was in Planning and design construction has already started leave the construction companies alone and let them do there job.
There are pros and cons to this. I-270 to PG County needs some alleviation of congestion desperately, but I don't know if this is the right time and place to construct a $3million overpass.
Montcoburn58 is right. That what I exactly thought when I saw this on Fox news at 5. I think stupid environmentalists will ruin whole American eventually. As a foreigner, I'm really sorry to see that American can't realize the worst things having done by these extremists.....
I'll bet the property you are standing on was wooded prior to construction of your home and development, why not post a film of that clearing operation? I noticed a wood fence in your backyard, Is it safe to assume your fence materials came from a decimated forest? Your view is hypocritical
Would you be this snide if the thing being constructed along your back fence was a six-lane, 18-mile highway? Come on now, MontCoBum, answer honestly. Granted, a house has an impact on climate change, but there's no real analogy here. You know that. Oh, by the way, you can replant trees, dozens of them, around a house. You can't plant even one tree in the middle of a highway.
I understand your displeasure and may be sympathetic to your plight. Believe me, I have no disrespect. I just cannot help myself in identifying a dual standard: i.e. "its Ok for me to cut down trees to make way for my house but not you for a highway". Would it be Ok if it were a developer clearing the tract for housing? The bottom line is that you cannot keep increasing number of vehicles and miles driven without increasing capacity of highways, it is nonsensical to think so.
I'm not a planner, but I'm guessing our current transportation debacle is founded in policies set 50 years ago, when all emphasis was placed on expanding roads and highways rather than public transportation.
Vehicle miles traveled have been falling for the past two years in response to rising oil prices. The problem the ICC was intended to solve is dissolving in the face of rising oil prices. World oil production is at or near its peak. The time for the ICC has already gone.
I happen to agree with bikergal on this one. The sad reality of this video is shown at the end when the deer and fox are walking by. Something this guy will never see in his back yard ever again.
I thank you for recording this- with great sadness. We have playing in the woods that are being scraped bare by these greedy scumbags. It is a small man that can do this type of work. It is a small man that matter-of-factly kills wildlife. No soul. O'Malley we got rid of Ehrlich. We'll do the same with you. I can't believe you condone this.
I am forwarding this video to Governor O'Malley, Mike Miller, Michael Busch, Chris Van Hollen, and all the other elected officials who have wreaked this devastation upon our homes, neighborhoods, schools, and recreational areas. Particularly to Governor O'Malley--if you thought building this road would help get you re-elected in 2010, you thought wrong--really, really wrong.
