dumpster diving is ausome, i've found so many movies, hats, chairs, stereos, cassette tapes, cds, records, even a few antique toys worth 100$ of bucks notebooks, and whiskey to name a few.
@palttrog2 Patrick do you know what they did? They put in "compactor stations" tat are open twice a week. They took out the bins and now everyone has to take their trash there. So no way to dumpster dive! Terrible idea!
You look beautiful with long hair! (Well, you look beautiful now, still. But there's something special about long hair. Lol, you inspired me. When become older, I'm going to grow my hair long like yours.
And yeah, I have a crazy friend who finds expensive treasures via "dumpster dive." One time, she invited me and the cops asked us what we were doing and she had to lie and say she dropped a ring in the trash. xD
You dumpster diverse are some crazy fun going individuals. :P
@YourDarkAccomplice LOL about the cops! I would like to have seen that happen. Thank you about my hair. I am growing it out again now. (and trying to get skinny again).

@RiverBirch1967 WOW i hit the mother of dumpsters today WOWZAAA!! wen i lived in Bogalusa la . I notice there dumpsters there had roofs on them ? are cali dumpsters any different too ?? have a wonderful day
@palttrog2 As far as I know they are all called dumpsters by normal people. Uppity people want to say "garbage disposal bins." (just kidding) I have seen some with roofs and some w/o. The largest ones are the ones with no roofs. It's hard to have to hold the roof open while rooting around in there.
my mother is a land lord so she pays me to mow the lawns, and every time i will look into the dumpster and 9 times out of 10 i will find somthing cool, like a camo vest, bookshelves, and one time i found this....not realy sure what....some kind of bedside table maybe, but yes, i dumpster dive.
somtimes i find vachumn cleaners thrown out in front of somebodys house ive found about 30 of them since the begining of winter of 2009 so i just clean them up unclog the hose or replace the belt that i got from other vachumns that had burned out motors and i sell each one at a time for about 10-15 dollars a peice some time 20 if it's good looking bagless vachumn it niche of mine ive been doing since i was 16- 17 yrs old i still got about 5 more vacs to go it helps anyway because i was laid off.
Vac cleaners? Holy cow, that's expensive stuff. If you fix them and sell them, you're doing real good. I cannot believe ppl just set them out in the trash.
i was in a position where i had no money and couldnt afford food, and i didnt exactly dumpster dive but i did go round the back of my local supermarket and took all the out of date stuff that they where throwing out, i got some really good stuff, he was a nice man, a saint. large supermarkets do it all the time, you ever here of Freeganism, although it is illegal i will still go some nights and bin dive after these big shops close and giv it to charities which is what the supermarkets should do
Gary, that must have been a horrible time, very very difficult. I will Bing Freegansim, why illegal, if a person signs off and cannot be sued for something?
Hello, River. My comment doesn't have much to do with the topic, but I thought you should know that your hair looks GREAT in this video! You look absolutely fabulous :-)
The best thing I've found dumpster diving is easy for me. Best thing I've ever found is my couch.
My husband is military, and it's not uncommon for people who are transferred with little notice to leave much of what they own out by the dumpsters on base. There are great finds there.
Good to see you River! I can't say that I have dumpster dived...but, when I lived in apts and people would move, there would be all kinds of stuff out by the dump! It didn't take long and it would all be gone..haha :)
I've never dumpster dived, but whenI lived up north, we didn't have trash pick up in the town where I lived and so i had to take weekly trips to the town landfill (dump). I found some interesting things at the dump like old lamps and such. Lots of folks do this!
Well isn't that cool; you had a whole landfill. We had that in Louisiana; one dump site for all the folks around. That is the best way to get the most loot.
No, i've never dumpster dived but in my neighbourhood, the residents tend to leave all sorts of goodies by their wheelie bins for anyone to take. I found a washing machine once, about 3 doors up from my place. There was also an inflatable woman right next to it but it had a puncture in it. I can't win can I? :P
I love it. I live in New York City and these silly people throw everything away every season. My husband and I call it the hobo habadashery! and furniture! ooooh weeee! We have helped furnish all our friends apartments. By the way, I am Amy. See ya-I'm off to dumpster dive!
I haven't done it myself, but I got a ton of comic books when I was a kid from a friends dad who visited a dumpster outside of an old pharmacy. Another friend found a whole set of vintage early 60's Barbies, complete with outfits. So, there is great stuff out there to be had!
we find good stuff because the kids dont think about taking stuff home and bring it back next year for school. you might also check yahoo for a freecycle group its a recycle group that gives away free stuff.
Yeah I have been known to dumpster dive... we have around here a day where folks can put stuff to the curb that they want to get rid of and you can just stop and get it. Its like roadside shopping! LOL
We have picked up a bunch of stuff that way, one was a kitchen table with the leg broke.. we made into a coffee table. That was 4 years ago and we still have it. lol
We just sawed off the legs nice and even .. and I took a sander to it to rough it up a bit. Right now it has green legs but this room will be my Americana room so it will be painted soon.
Hey, you ought to attach this to Renetto's video on dumpster locks (The story: My First Invention + Travel Update). The funny thing is though that the locks were to prevent people from putting things in.
