I disagree with what you wrote that the band was at the height of their career in this 1986 video. I believe they were at the height of their career back in the late 1960's when I used to go hear them at the Pizza Palace in Huntington Beach, California. Back then they had Papa Ray Ronnei on cornet and Ray Brewer on trombone. They made an lp back then on the Vault label called "Here Comes The Hot Tamale Man" Look for that lp and listen to it if you want to hear how really great the band sounded.
Bob, I always loved playing this tune on TUBA with my Rainier and Wild Cards Jazz! You were great! Especially with Glenn Koch on washboard....I miss him too!!!! Perfect tempo! Again love the pro production. Leon is really a kick and my Dad loved to tease him relentlessly. LOL
Great! Great! with wonderful washboard solo. Sorry to have read on the 'Net recently that Bob is no longer with us. I used to work with him at Ray Avery's Rare Records. Heck of a nice guy.
BOB, JUST REVISITED OUR FRIENDS HERE....MISS YOU WITH RANIER AND WILD CARDS JAZZ FUN A BIT AGO, SMILES.....WARMLY, RANDY KELLER.

haven't seen or heard the washboard for years.
Absolutely a great band- playing for the enjoyment of it.
