Since digital pins 1 and 2 are used for tx and rx. The newer shields have two jumper "pins" or solder jumper as they call it. You can wire those two jumpers on the shield to the digital pins of or choice. You then use ladyadas softserial to utilize those pins that you chose. You will have to play around with with which pin is tx and which one is rx. In my case I chose pin 3 and 4 an initialized it in the softserial.
