  • I have this version on the 4-doucle cd Duke Ellington 100e anniversary. Published by ECM in 1999. Which states: '17. Caravan (J. Tizol, D. Ellington, I. Mills). Trumpet: Arthur Whetsol, Rex Steward. Trombone: Joe Nanton, Lawrence Browne. Sax: Johnny Hodges, Otto Hardwicke, Barney Bigard, Harry Carney. Piano: Duke Ellington. Banjo/guitar: Fred Guy. Double bass: Billy Taylor. Drums: Sonny Greer, Charlie Barnet (cloches 4, of which I don't know what that means:) ).

  • Re-released on Brunswick and Columbia.

  • The b-side of the album Azure.

  • Recorded May 14, 1937 on the short lived label named Master.

  • Does anyone have details on this version of Caravan? When it was recorded, which label, and especially, who the sidemen are? Thanks!

  • @viewstew You can find this very track on the "Ken Burns JAZZ Collection: Duke Ellington".
