Dammit every time he does it tears roll down.....inexplicable....lost of words.... El Maestro and Her such a combo.....God how great you are...La Boce.....ahhh... thank you.....
The way this opera ends is a masterpiece within itself. I love how the woodwinds sit on the dissonance at 0:03, as if hinting at Mimi's upcoming death, and the dead silence throughout the only dialogue of the show, followed by those magnificent harmonies of the horns and Marcello's heart-breaking "coraggio!" It's absolutely brilliant. Yet, people still get upset when I tell them that RENT is an abominable adaptation of this show.
@antaresvariant La Boheme is brilliant you are correct...but La Boheme is also an OPERA and RENT is a stage musical...two different norms..I personally think they did a good job modernizing La Boheme...both shows have a special place in my heart
@Poet2916 Yeah, you're right, I shouldn't judge RENT as an opera. I guess I just can't get over the fact that they chose to let Mimi live at the end. It just completely changes the whole feel of the show. But then again, I've always loved tragedies. :)
Puccini's music always makes the hairs on my neck stand up. This rendition is absolutely fantastic. The voice of an angel indeed. I will never tire of this performance. It is simply superb. I visit this page regularly.
Darn it!! Why does Mirella Freni ALWAYS make a brut studly MAN like myself cry like a little baby. She does it to me EVERYTIME in Madame Butterfly!! What a beautiful woman! And Pavarotti is probably showing the angels how to sing!!
this man's crying is heartbreaking - he is the best pagliacci ever!! and just his speaking, his voice, he hasa youthful heart and it shines perfectly in this role even if he's not the most mobile actor, luv u ...We love you Champion.
i have to learn this role, but every time when i come to this scene, i can' go on singing, because it's so sad! i can't manage it!!! i always must cry like a baby!!!
So beautiful, Pavarotti moves me in a way that other singers can't. The way that him and Freni connect is amazing. He is my favourite singer, he can make someone with a heart of stone shed tears. He sure as hell made me shed tears!
So powerful. Pavaroti and Freni lived in the same building when they were growing up, I believe. She must have been at his funeral, all the old warriors must have gathered there. Freni, Scotto, Tebaldi...
Grandissimo Luciano Pavarotti...

Pav is great here!!!
Also...
"Couragio" sounds as in russian here almost likely "Vracha" - Врача - it seems to russian people (for me) as they are calling for "Doctor".

Phenomenal. There is truly no other Mimi or Rodolfo that come to the par set by these two.

It's terrible!!, just too stifling... And, though Mirella is not my favorite (yet) =(, all they match perfectly!, wonderfully!
Fantastic! Thanks!! =D
