Thank you sharing your talent w/others. I am a female 5string bass player. I label my ability 'basic transportation, but want to take it to another level. Loved the video lesson's esp. appreciate you taking it slow making it easier to see positioning and technique. Im looking forward to more lessons! God Bless You
i for one am a satanist, but i really love these lessons they really do me a favor as far as slap and pop goes so i will say for one i really appreciate you sir
Torch7 I thank God for you brother. This is my second year playing the bass and I'm part of the worship team of a Hispanic church. I am glad i found a Christain Bass Teacher God Bless You Very Much!!! I need funk in my life lol
alright, thats awesome man, as a fellow newbie to the bass and as a fellow christian trying to worship god it is great to hear you doing all this. alot of respect. as part of my church we put on free concerts on every saturday we can, with music, drama, and testimonies, trying to bring people to christ. Its an awesome thing helping bring souls into the kingdom, and speaking out about your faith is hard, but once you do its so much more fulfilling and faith building. I love it. keep it up
that queue for the hair in your neck that from vic wooten that is exclusive for harmonics right and also to compress the slap sound correct i got that too
I subscribe to the idea, whatever works.. but the easiest finger for me to use is the pointer (index) finger, and the middle finger in some instances as well.
a preamp like a hartke bass attack (although there are others) can really help intensify the sound especially from passive pickups and while i cannot say it will fix your problem a GOOD preamp can be a good investment for a bassist who does not have one unless you have good reasons not to own one
haha you had a moment like my teacher, if something interrupts him like the phone he has to be reminded what we were just talking about after he is done with a call or w/e.
OK, dude I'm not a church player and I don't have in my plans to do that (ok that is also cuz my church is Orthodox[yeah I am Christian] so we only have choirs :D ) but your vids are truly the best learning material I found so far, keep up the good work man, bravo ;)
I'm a super newbie. I am watching all of your lessons as I am saving up for a bass so hopefully I will have a good idea on what to do when I actually acquire it. But I have to say your bass lessons are awesome and you're funny too so it's not super serious which keeps me interested. Keep on playin' man, the beautiful thing about music is when it hits you you feel no pain.
Thanks for the encouraging words. Let me know if there is anything else, concepts etc. You may want to learn. Also check out the message board at gospelbasslines[dot]com
LOL... I played for 6 months on a four string, then I bought a 5 string. I was competing with an organ, and a keyboardist who liked to pad chords with the left hand. So the 5 string allowed me to get lower tones, so that I could hold down the bottom, of a song.
I play bass for my youth church and i've always wanted to fuse in some slapping and popping. The first one was really useful. This one i already used. I totally agree to god be the glory.
I'd tried to locate your boy's myspace page and could not find it. If he still has a myspace page, can you post a link in a comment to the page? Good work, I played for some time, and I'm still learning
I didn't knwo that fifth string was intentionally loose. I prefer four string basses. I've played with a five string before, and I really didn't enjoy them too much. Lots of people like playing five strings because it opens up more oppurtunities for melodies. Some people like using picks because they get better sound, but honestly if you pluck the strings right, you can get better sound than a pick. I play louder with my fingers than a pick
I wouldn't say intentionally loose, but "Typically" looser than the others in tension. Floppy B strings are not good. Looking for 5 strings most people I spoken too are looking for a B string that fits their playing style and feel.
ur awesome bro! seriously love how u givin God the glory above all else so awesome. God bless bro i kno u and ur church are doin God's will all for his glory and not for urselves. ur a blessing to watch and an inspiration. I see the hand of God upon ur life. God bless you and ur church more and more abundantly. Dont ever stop wut ur doin for him ur awesome! Again God bless and keep doin wut ur doin!
Hey torch. I love your approach to teaching. Love the tone of that bass man! I find that so many talented brothers are out there playing really awesome lines but not really sharing on an in-depth level.
Again, thanks for sharing and your approach. I'm sure that people will be looking for your posts all over the world.
Love it

Thanks for sharing your knowledge. It helps out alot and I've already learned alot from your videos.
And I like how you mention playing for Christ and playing to glorify Him in every video. Its very encouraging.
