La Cumpasita was mentioned in a satire on Orson Wells' "Martian" invasion. After the first alert, the piece plays. The piece soon becomes absurd with the comet getting stalled in the Lincoln Tunnel !

Primera vez que oigo lo que supongo es la letra original de este tango. Lo único que lamento es que no hubiese mejor tecnología, pero a pesar de ello brilla la voz del Maestro Don Tito Schipa como si hubiese sido porteño de Buenos Aires, aunque era oriundo de la "bota ibérica".

Eso le dió derecho como para ser considerado uno de las grandes voces del tango.

@limon276 La letra original que se escribió para este tango data de 1924 (Si supieras) con autoría de Pascual Contursi y Enrique Maroni. La letra que se escucha en este registro es la que Gerardo Matos Rodriguez (el compositor de la música de este tango) escribió dos años después, en 1926. Hasta el día de hoy las partituras oficiales se editan con las dos letras.

I thought this sounded as if running a bit fast. It comes out here in Aflat minor, and the voice does not sound quite right. Try it down a semitone, and I think you'll find it sounds truer to Schipa's actual timbre.
