  • Can't wait to get to the Owyhee Res. in May :) Hope the crappie fishing is good.

  • If you're talking about whether it's a lake or a reservoir you might have a point. If you're talking about it's name or title or whatever, it is Lake Owyhee. Doesn't really matter if it's not technically a lake, it is still called (titled, named) Lake Owyhee. I too grew up not far from there.

  • Doesn't matter. I always called it Lake Owyhee.. I grew up not far from here. My great grandparents and grandparents owned the resort in the late 60's.

  • Thank you for the CORRECT title. This is Owyhee RESERVOIR, not LAKE Owyhee. A reservoir refers to "an artificial lake, used to store water for various uses. Reservoirs are created first by building a sturdy dam, usually out of cement, earth, rock, or a mixture." The State of Oregon and Google need to correct this misnomer. Since 1931 it was a RESERVOIR, and NEVER has it been a LAKE.

  • I'm originally from Atlanta, and all of our reservoirs are also called lakes. Lanier, Allatoona, Sinclair, Hartwell; all dammed rivers.
