this mmorpg looks like a lot of fun that you can build cities and fortresses and so on and that there is complete fredome and that the world is brought to lieve by the players which of course means that it is better the more players play iit. That is the kind of freedom that i have experienced in Morrowind. I had a big fortress but it got kind of boring because there was no one to attack it even though i had a lot of centurion guards

Darkfall hasn't delievered on most of the promises that would have made the game a winner.
Darkfall doesn't cut it for me. The only way to get ahead is to macro, the only way to PvP is to grief and get red, and on top of that, the alignment system is horrible and stupid.
The game is not ready to be released, it should have been at least another two months before it was nearly ready for release.
You can't PvP due to the size and have to travel too far out of your way to do anything, and then have a considerable risk of getting ganked on your way to do anything.
Just because this isn't WoW and you can't teleport, doesn't make the "big map" useless, you dick. It's made for exploring, finding new mobs, finding new dungeons, cities, places to ambush. The list goes on.
The map is too big. There is no concentration of players and makes the game feel too expansive and too barren. You don't get the feeling that there's anybody else out there. They don't have the subscribers to have a huge map, due to the fact that they botched the release of the game and didn't deliver on half the content.
Why would you want to find a new mob when there's tons of other ones near the safety of the towers? What dungeons? I've seen only a few dungeons, most of which are camped 24/7. Cities? Please. All the cities have been found and taken. Places to ambush who? The world is too barren to find anybody without waiting hours to ambush somebody. Chances are they're blue, in a friendly clan or even of your own clan.
Becuase, simply the shitty mobs don't drop anything good? Dungeons? Yeah, there's not many. But if they're being camped then go and kill them? Cities? If you want a city, go and fucking raid it. You can't expect AV to hand out the cities freely, or any clan for that matter. Yeah, the world is a bit barren. But they should be releasing the game 24/7 pretty soon. And as for ambushing people. They're blue? So what? If you sit near the newbie towns all of the time then you can't judge this game.
There's too much grinding in the game to risk losing items. What about small guilds? The game appeals to zerg guilds and PKers, not much else. "Go fucking raid it"? With the Hyperzerg and CoTC about you won't ever get a city with a clan that has less than 150 people. See, that's where this game has its downfall. I don't play a game to work, I play a game to unwind and do shit. I don't play to "work for the first few months" so that I can have fun. I'm pretty excited about some of the things they're doing with this game, but animations as blocky and choppy as the ones I've seen for this game so far seem like they'd really kill the immersion. One of the things that makes WoW so immersive is the smoothness of all the character animations. Since the animations for attacks begin BEFORE a response from the server is received, lag between button pressing and animation is minimized as well, adding to the smoothness.
It is one of the things Blizzard truly did well on with that game. However I also realize that they've had many years since the game's release to polish it and make it all shiny.

BTW i doubt increasing the gfx setting will change how blocky the animation is and how the characters move, these animations belong in games from 15 years ago, now games of today
what they did was instead of work on the grafics first they set up the world and player systems to minimize glitchs, as the game comes out there will be updates to grafics to improve the quailty
they also have huge storms and shit that will affect vision, movement, etc. Coming across a massive storm while sailing across the sea to fight another clan looks like one of those great "oh, fuck." moments

It's a valid concern, but if the system of losing equipment on death is anything like it was in Asheron's Call (and seeing as some of the AC creators work on this game, it probably will be), you lose items based on their value. So if you have a really cool Helm worth 20g, find a helmet worth 50g that you don't use. Store it in your inventory etc. It seems like a dangerous system but trust me, it works. It makes killing others way more fun too! =D (p.s. term for those tiems is DI. Death items)
Gear doesn't play that much of a role in game, that's the point. Better gear - AWESOME but it won't mean you can't be bum-raped and stolen. So anyone with awesome gear is just as killable as the next guy.
I dose matter what the other players are wearing! But it's still far away from wow where gear is almost everything. In Darkfall 5 skilled players playing noob characters should be able to take out 1 skilled player who is using an "old" character with good skillpoints and some nice gear.
About gears. You can store a set of gear (or 5 if you want) in your bank, where it is safe.
I think you guys are forgetting that gear doesn't play to much of a role in this game, its more about skill and player talent, so it doesn't matter what gear the other player has, the most skilled player will win
the idea of the game is that gear is not everything they tried to make it as more about the skill of the player then the gear they are using which will be a first for mmorpgs

People in a well established and organised guild will still be using top-notch gear since they know they are well protected against losses by the guilds crafters and warriors. ;)
Most people who are solo or aren't enjoying this privilege will indeed be most likely not to roam around in their best armory at all times.
I do think guilds will play a determing role in DFO.
Gear isn't the end all be all in the game. While there will be rare/epic gear, this gear will only be used by very few people since there will actually be a finite amount. The most powerful gear dropped gear in the game and the most powerful crafted gear in the game is almost equal maybe. This game isn't like WoW were you grind 100s of hrs to get gear to be good, its a game were you can grind 100s of hrs to max out your character instead.
Also, remember that if you kill someone you will probably get hole armor set (it depends on what your opponent is wearing). So if you constantly are killing enemys you won't run out of gear.
the only flaw i see in that is that weaker players are almost always going to be gearless from being killed all the time and the strong get stronger. its kind of like the old wow pvp system where only the best player of the week could get the best gear. the best only got better
dude just think like this, when u are overpowered you will pvp alot, then when u playu players with good gear you will be able to take their loot, its awesome, your gonna get rich outta that way of farming..
I doubt it. The ONLY reason, and I genuinely mean only reason why WoW is so successful, is because they have a good marketing campaign. Darkfall looks unfathomably better compared to WoW. But, it's not even getting released in America before Europe. Have you seen any T.V. commercials for Darkfall with Ozzy? Or has South Park made an episode for Darkfall? There's a lot of other games comparably better than WoW, yet WoW still is more popular.
that southpark episode was after the release of WoW so yeah ofc they made some but this game is still to be released and btw WoW was kinda famous for WC 1 2 and 3 already so everyone knew the world already
That's because instead of making it pretty first, this will become the most balanced game at release. It was gameplay before graphics. They will add in detail patches later on after release.
To be completly honest... this game looks like crap. Its gonna build up a shitload of hipe and turn out to be a shitty game just like age of conan. everyone will come crawling back to WOW like usual. But if the small chance that this does kick ass. you can be sure as hell ill be playing it.

Agon's big map is useless.

they also have huge storms and shit that will affect vision, movement, etc. Coming across a massive storm while sailing across the sea to fight another clan looks like one of those great "oh, fuck." moments

It's a valid concern, but if the system of losing equipment on death is anything like it was in Asheron's Call (and seeing as some of the AC creators work on this game, it probably will be), you lose items based on their value. So if you have a really cool Helm worth 20g, find a helmet worth 50g that you don't use. Store it in your inventory etc. It seems like a dangerous system but trust me, it works. It makes killing others way more fun too! =D (p.s. term for those tiems is DI. Death items)

Gear doesn't play that much of a role in game, that's the point. Better gear - AWESOME but it won't mean you can't be bum-raped and stolen. So anyone with awesome gear is just as killable as the next guy.

I dose matter what the other players are wearing! But it's still far away from wow where gear is almost everything. In Darkfall 5 skilled players playing noob characters should be able to take out 1 skilled player who is using an "old" character with good skillpoints and some nice gear.
About gears. You can store a set of gear (or 5 if you want) in your bank, where it is safe.

I think you guys are forgetting that gear doesn't play to much of a role in this game, its more about skill and player talent, so it doesn't matter what gear the other player has, the most skilled player will win

the idea of the game is that gear is not everything they tried to make it as more about the skill of the player then the gear they are using which will be a first for mmorpgs

Most people will use average gear in combat. Also having some risk in the game is what makes it fun :)

People in a well established and organised guild will still be using top-notch gear since they know they are well protected against losses by the guilds crafters and warriors. ;)
Most people who are solo or aren't enjoying this privilege will indeed be most likely not to roam around in their best armory at all times.
I do think guilds will play a determing role in DFO.

Gear isn't the end all be all in the game. While there will be rare/epic gear, this gear will only be used by very few people since there will actually be a finite amount. The most powerful gear dropped gear in the game and the most powerful crafted gear in the game is almost equal maybe. This game isn't like WoW were you grind 100s of hrs to get gear to be good, its a game were you can grind 100s of hrs to max out your character instead.

There are no "epic purps" in Darkfall to lose.
I'm guessing that, at the very most, you'd lose like, ten hours of work. At the very most.

Also, remember that if you kill someone you will probably get hole armor set (it depends on what your opponent is wearing). So if you constantly are killing enemys you won't run out of gear.

the only flaw i see in that is that weaker players are almost always going to be gearless from being killed all the time and the strong get stronger. its kind of like the old wow pvp system where only the best player of the week could get the best gear. the best only got better

I doubt it. The ONLY reason, and I genuinely mean only reason why WoW is so successful, is because they have a good marketing campaign. Darkfall looks unfathomably better compared to WoW. But, it's not even getting released in America before Europe. Have you seen any T.V. commercials for Darkfall with Ozzy? Or has South Park made an episode for Darkfall? There's a lot of other games comparably better than WoW, yet WoW still is more popular.

Right now it's in closed beta, so if you signed up but haven't gotten contacted, you're out of luck.
You'll have to wait either until open beta (no idea when that'll be, but it should be soon) or when it's up for retail on Jan. 22.

That's because instead of making it pretty first, this will become the most balanced game at release. It was gameplay before graphics. They will add in detail patches later on after release.

To be completly honest... this game looks like crap. Its gonna build up a shitload of hipe and turn out to be a shitty game just like age of conan. everyone will come crawling back to WOW like usual. But if the small chance that this does kick ass. you can be sure as hell ill be playing it.

I'm not sure when exactly the US release is gonna be, but you can still easily buy the Europe version online and play in Euro servers, the real question is if you have by the US version to play in US if you want to switch from Euro to US..
