  • At the Academy Awards, Walt Disney was crowned king of animated film for his achievements in creating Mickey Mouse and his wonderful Silly Sympony, Flowers and Trees.

  • When I was a kid this was one of my all time favorite cartoons.

  • Early three-strip Technicolor. That process was expensive but sure gave wonderful results!

  • First colored cartoon and first to get an oscar

  • why are disneys cartoons alwase about bad guys trying to rape some tree?

  • first Oscar in animated cartoon

  • Nice (and old) environmental message!

  • I saw this 25 years ago, now im a scientist in plant science, I admire this work. outstanding from any point of view.

  • This needs to be on Blu-ray.

  • Remember! Only you can prevent forest fires!

  • 她太多正點的音了

  • omG....i used to see this when I was really young, I remember that that old tree scared the crap out of me, I think it was the music fault xD

  • this cartoon is naive as I was when I saw it the first time, and that makes me dream again for a brief moment ... now how long my slight melancholy?? help!

    w l'italia!!!!

  • July 30, 1932: the premiere of Walt Disney's Flowers and Trees, the first cartoon short to use technicolor and the first Academy Award winning short

  • Back when animation took skill and animators were talented. Every cartoon on TV now is either 3d rendered or some shitty flash style computer animation. Hell, even the new Looney Tunes show looks like a flash cartoon. Old animation will always astound me.

  • may i please know the title of the music used in 6:35-6:56..it's really important..! thank you very much >.<

  • @Lady5yeah

It's called: Morning Mood, composed by Edvard Grieg.

  • OH THANK YOU SO MUCH. I didn't remember having watched this during my childhood, you've made me smile. =)

  • Cute

  • Have anyone noticed that silly symphonie cartoons have always black characters... well some sort of rasist... I don't know. It was then before ppl got offended easily

  • @Inkki89 i think for their time they did use a few stereotypes which fitted its time,a good example is the big bad wolf disguised as a jewish peddler in Three little pigsi dont think they meant to offend but just used a few stereotypes of the time

  • Oh dear God what happens when they have sex?

  • Moral of the story is:

Want the girl, incinerate the competition!

  • @Spudfish93 Moral to the story is that if you try to incinerate the competition, you'll only end up bringing about your own destruction.

  • The first Disney cartoon ever in Technicolor. It was also the first cartoon to win an Oscar

  • Poison-Ivy wrote the scenario when she was on drugs!

  • The last march of the Ents

  • AWESOME!

  • lets start a revolution!!

we want the good old disney back!!!

like this for it to be on top of the page!!!

  • 4:08 chopin!

  • Schubert's Erlkonig! 4:31 <3!

  • @Jolteon206 Weirdo

  • Disney, in fact, invented Mickey Mouse. There is a debate over whether it was on the train or during a meeting with his workers, but many people (including Ub Iwerks) said that Walt was the first person to draw Mickey Mouse. Ub may have drawn Mickey for the cartoons, but Walt came up with the preliminary sketches. Both Walt and Ub were geniuses in this field and were also very good friends; so let's just get over this argument and move on.

  • @silence3694 I think you got lost on the way to steamboat willie :D

  • @silence3694 The largest technological innovation of color film was the Technicolor Process 3 system - the first to be accepted as true color. This system commercially debuted with the 1932 Walt Disney animated film release, Flowers and Trees. This remained Hollywood's color system until the early 1950's.

  • @silence3694

Thats is true but Im not really sure if theyre great friends, Im reading a book about it by Michael Barrier and it seems they had a really shaky relationship where it came to the point when Ub said to Roy Disney I cant work with him

  • @silence3694 nope, it was his partner, his partner got screwed out of history.

Thank you and have a good day.

  • The "Conductor" tree looks like Bach!

  • that damsel in distress thingy's getting kinda old

  • @3gregcoledaniel3 this is old

  • @3gregcoledaniel3 your speaking from almost one hundred years later, don't forget.

  • 0:55 Morning Wood xD

    3:04 epic fail!

    3:51 MoonWalk!

    4:12 She's taking a dump on him

    5:18 natural pornography

i remember when i was younger, each time i watched this, i also felt sorry for the bad tree =(

  • I believe this is the first animated feature to use Technicolor pretty neat huh.

  • @saneaids first ever full colour film

  • @VortexProductions1

How is it Robin's fault? His scenes in Aladdin are among the best animation work the Disney folks have provided.

Disney co continued to put out fantastic stuff after Walt's death, I blame the company's current decline on a variety of things, Michael Eisner definitely played a role in turning Disney into the souless company it is today, Roy E's resignation and death came as a major blow as well. As of now no member of the Disney family has any control over the company.

  • very, very creepy. Reminds me of books I used to find and read in my second grade teacher's room. Just so weird. Nice job with early color film; but such a weird storyline. I guess they saw things differently than we do now?

  • It's a wonderful cartoon!

  • The first cartoon with colours.

  • it's good but you must admit it's very weird

  • meraviglioso!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • wow... im astounded by that mans creation. this is what i searched.. "Disney became fixated on using the newest technology for his films. He obtained exclusive rights to use Technicolor in animated films for two years, winning his first Academy Award in 1932 for the animated short Flowers and Trees, which was also the first full-color cartoon."

  • tht is one creepy lookin tree...

  • The truth of this cartoon is that Walt fisney dont do it, The drawer and the person that imagine all that was Ub Iwerks. There are rumors that also, Ub invent mickey mouse, not Disney. But who knows? :D . They were both excellent artists. If they could see the cartoons and shows of now... They will be very sad :c

  • @airam519 no WALT DISNEY INVENTED MICKEY MOUSE AND MICKEY MOUSES REAL NAME WAS MORTIMOR MOUSE BUT WALTS WIFE THOUGHT THAT WAS A HORRIBLE NAME 4 A MOUSE SO HE CHANGED IT TO MICKEY.

  • @hpstycgsxxyz1 NO, UB IWERKS FIRST DREW MICKEY MOUSE! Google "Ub Iwerks." That Disney story with the "train ride" is, believe it or not, BS. I don't care what you may think, but you could also watch "Ub Iwerks: The Hand Behind the Mouse." Disney provided Mickey's voice, but Ub first drew him.

  • @airam519 You're somewhat right. Ub Iwerks did draw the animations, but it was Walt who came up with the ideas. Ub actually had no idea about Mickey(or back then Mortimer) Mouse until Disney showed him the sketches of our favorite mouse he made during a train ride home with his wife. And I totally agree with you on the last part. The people in charge of Disney nowadays have totally ruined the magic of animation.

  • @duckygrl4386 UB IWERKS ALONE FIRST DREW MICKEY MOUSE! The "train ride" is actually a Disney publicity stunt (and BS). Ub and Disney invented Mickey together, but it was Ub who drew him.

  • @airam519 Yes, Ub did invent Mickey.

  • the maker of this cartoon has imaginative faculty, this story is funny and attractive.

  • This animated short won the very first Oscar for Animated Shorts in 1932 and it is easy to see why. The amount of skill to do the movements, water, and fire is just amazing.

  • what are the musics used in this video and composers please

  • What is the music at 4:34? I have been looking for that forever!

  • @TheNoeInc "Erlkönig" by Franz Schubert.

  • @bohnmed1a OMG Thank you so much! I have been looking for that piece for so long now!

  • oigan este cortometraje gano un osacr hehe

  • Tree ents!

  • Wow This was the 1st ever piece of film to be in all 3 full colors (RGB) rather than 2 colors. It also won the first Academy Award for Animated Short Film. History in the making.

  • DAT TRUNK

  • Simplemente...maravilloso!!!!

  • This was Disney's first color cartoon.

  • @igirl120 yup animation today does suck-its all computor-and theres no art, passion or feeling in it.thats why old animation is so wonderful

  • soooo lovely-every bit of it

  • Has its merits and chuckles. I can see where the Disneyesque idea of nature began. Just remember to separate the fantasy from reality and it's all fun.

  • classic, but still creepy. didn't this win best animated short at the oscars?

  • tho girl tree reminds me of a burlesque dancer with those branches.

  • Love it! <3

  • haha i have always remembered this cartoon, i cant belive i found it!!!

  • I remember seeing this, YEARS ago, when I was a little girl.

  • disney cartoons now are lame

cartoon network nowaday is just sick...can't believe kids grow up watching that stuff

  • I love this....

  • i like these old classics :) they are much better than those nowadays. even tho this isnt my favorite ( my favorite is: the old mill) but its still great :D

  • chick tree isa tease

  • With these old cartoons comes a sense of peacefulness......*calm*

  • @ 5:59 - Absolut birds

  • That evil tree learned his lesson. Don't play with fire!

  • the dead tree is kinda sad

  • @ladidacow1 totally. the scene which the vultures circle its dead body in the end is kinda tough

  • @Chwzehk ya but disney's more older and classic movies r rly sad and tough lk dumbo, bambi, and tarzan is a little rough with the baby monkey dieing even though it doesnt show the scene

  • Well disney pwn all! old movies are SO much better then the new ones and now all i made by cpu here it was a mix with all pictures by artist and then some cpu =P

  • they should play more of these cartoons on television! it's such a classic!

  • i miss this cartoons :D this is better than the ones today ^^

  • this cant be coz porky was 1938.trees and flowers was in 1932

  • aw I miss this!

  • thats the song from porky in wackyland

  • LOL It's so funny how they use animals to do our real life surroundings.

  • Can somebody please identify the music played from 6:33 till 6:55 ?

  • @moutasnake William Tell Overture, "Call to the Cows"

  • Uhhh trees can't dance...

  • @rmody999 And you can't have imagination but I don't see anyone but you complaining.

  • hahaha i can kind of see the butthead. anyway love this classic

  • I love the Wedding march sung by the birds

  • 2:25 this tree looks like ... butthead

  • This is very very cute!!

  • Yes, Flowers and Trees is the 1st cartoon ever made in full color. Walt Disney used Silly Symphonies has a laboratory to experiment on new animation techniques and for animators to learn new skills for larger more expensive and full length projects. Many of the techniques used in Silly Symphonies were applied to Snow White made in 1937.

  • Had to see the first cartoon in colours, I'd never seen it before... it is very sweet :-)

  • The first cartoon that I saw in my life!!

  • 6:30

    holy shit pedo tree's corpse!

  • This is the first time I saw this cartoon

Not counting a clip on television in a scene of 101 Dalmatians

  • oh this is just marvellous, thanks for the upload, cheers mate!

  • Its my favourite Sily Symphonies! ^^

  • 6:07 So that is how it rains. lol

  • I thought I would never find this one.

  • This old Cartoons, are Much better than the new ones.thats what i Thing

  • Oh my god. This is amazing. I can't believe the stupid cartoons disney is putting out now. With all the pop culture refrences, and stupid slang jokes. It truly shows you that once you get fame and fortune in the movie biz, you lose sight of what really counts in this sort of situation. Half the nowadays disney characters don't even move half the time. And it's all ROBIN WILLIAM'S FAULT!

  • Comment removed

  • Don't be a stupid idiot. God. It's stuff like that that made movies how dumb they are nowadays.

  • That was SWELL!!!! :)

  • DTV

Bobby Freeman - Do You Wanna Dance?

  • It is the first one i color :)

  • Disney got an Oscar for this one. I think it is one of the first in color.

  • Full three-strip technicolor, to be exact. There was another form called two-strip technicolor, with a very limited color palette. For a few years, Disney had exclusive rights to use three-strip for their films, and other cartoon studios had to suffer with color palettes mostly consisting of shades of red and green. The first Porky Pig cartoon, "I Haven't Got a Hat" is one example.

  • That's right! Disney won Oscar for the very first animated feature filmed in Technicolor in 1932.

  • que bonito ... lo recuerdo :]

  • Wanna know what's a huge shame? You probably couldn't show cartoons like this anymore. 'Too violent'. I mean, look at that, they fight with sticks, and the villain is burned to death.

It's a wonderful cartoon, though. I grew up watching it.

  • you are absolutely correct on that point. Political correctness has run amock in this country.

  • Agreed! being politically correct is overrated, anyway.

  • Animation can do more than crude humour, y'know.

  • So cute ! {:

  • wow, i used to watch this on tape as a kid :D

    ahh memories..

  • *__*
