  • That tail could pack one hell of a bitch slap. :P

  • Thresher's, though not intentionally, have been known to decapitate sailors looking too far over the boat when one swims by too close to the shore. The tail is thin and the shark is capable of moving at great speeds, so yeah, I'd say it's strong enough to hurt a diver.

  • lol it's camera shy ^_^

  • Definitly not fake! Awesome video of a rarely filmed shark. Not aggressive by any means, but still keep your distance as with any shark. Blue sharks have teeth too although rarely bite people. Tagging this animal would be awesome for thresher science

  • Threshers have always been my favorite, so beautiful.

  • 0:08 in my opinion the best part of this video

  • should have shot a harpoon through its head, now that would have been real cool.

  • @ajsk8r99

And why exactly would that be cool? Seems like it's more scared of the diver than the diver is of him, and not at all aggressive.

  • It got scared away

    When you pissed your suit

  • beautiful creature isnt it?

  • FUCKING TERRIFYING

  • yea LKJO94, there are better dive stories and videos on the net. try the myscubastory site. type "dive stories" into google and its like the 12th result, on the 1st or 2nd page of google... youll find other good dive story pages but i think the myscubastory site is better as its dedicated to dive stories, accidents, sharks and videos - have a good one !

  • reminds me of a Mako shark

  • One of the coolest and more elusive sharks out there. Lucky you!

  • haha its like it suddenly realised the diver was there and freaked out... awww. =)

  • That was a Pelagic Thresher Shark and they use their long tails to smack and kill schools of fish that they eat.

  • @vinceschannel Also they grow to 10 ft long

  • kids post "fake and gay" to random videos on youtube just to do it. no one needs to put thought into it. the actual term for this phenomenon is "trolling" or being a "troll". again, they do it just to do it. there is minimal thought behind it. dont waste your time.

  • @rdrums89 Amen.

  • At what part of this video did you think this was a machine?

  • BAD ASS.

  • Thanks for the video, Red. I haven't seen much footage of the Threshers. They are very cool. There are so many places I'd like to visit (terrestrial and marine). I'd also like to see a Port Jackson. They are quite cool as well. If you ever film one, be sure to post it :)

    Tom

  • @CircaCertainty Port Jackson sharks aren't that rare, few weeks ago a Port Jackson Shark swam right by me. They are gentle creatures & are quite easy t find. Espeicially in south Australia, they are everywhere lol.

  • Rare? I saw somebody catch one last night from a pier in NY.

  • Wow it's so cute, I love rare/prehistoric sharks but it is really sad..

  • That shark was like "oh shit! I've been seen!" and swims away.... I think it's camera shy

  • Wow...the tail is beautiful

  • Looked like that shark saw the diver and was like, "What the fuck is that?!?! I'm getting the hell out of here!" lol

  • Beautiful. Nice quick movement too. Got spooked by that weird creature in the goggles :)

  • their tails actually do hurt, my friend went diving and said it ran away from them like this video but when it turned around the tail slapped his leg. he had a big ass bruise from it

  • Very cool, cleary defined by its long whip-like tail...and it seemed to be scared of the diver. And for you saps saying that was fake, you're very stupid! Its movements are smooth, fluid and graceful and its impossible for any machine to perform perfectly the way it darted away from the diver and swam away.

  • @Karrigan117

I think it was spooked when it came too close to us. They are very shy.

Anyone says that it is a machine ..well, he/she must be watching too much movie !!

  • @Karrigan117 God, I remember one day I was out on the beach and I saw those huge tail flop outside of the water like 15 yards from me, and I went under water and I saw it was a Thresher shark. They are very friendly, in fact one of the most friendliest sharks in the world I believe.

    ~Atlantic Beach, NC~

  • That is Awsum

  • are the aggresive?

  • @gshdrums

I don't think so. Rather sad.

  • @gshdrums over 4 attacks since 1580. 1 provoked. no deaths.

  • how is that fake? you twat

  • wheres the proof to back that up?

  • What is it?

  • He's as beautiful as ever! O:

  • Animals are always fantastic

  • beautiful. lol it actually does look like a plane :)

  • lol! at 0:10 he must've spotted the cameraman cause he's like "Oh, wtf is that!? I'm outta here!"

  • I love threasher sharks, I was diving once when I got a glimpse of that tail, it's looks so elegent when it swims

  • how are they rare?

  • @eggmanburrito They are not as much rare as they are Hard to find...They like to stay in deeper waters which makes it all the much harder

  • Unfortunately threshers are the number one target of shark finners (easier size to catch with large fins), they have declined in known habitats by over 90%. The depths are targeted just as voraciously as the shallows in any productive areas.

  • you're very informed! The Chinese have over fished this shark to the brink of extinction. The chinese love shark fin soup, a very prized and sought after meal there. If you go to a Shanghai seafood resturaunt you'll see dozens of the fins floating in water, so the customers can pick their own fins out. They also have crocs in pens like lobsters so people can pick out their own croc to eat!

  • It's cute.

  • *______* this shark is so beautiful and quick i love it <3 :D

  • Sharks are beautiful :)

The people that kill them are idiots >:(

  • it has a long tail

  • 0:08

Wow, it really does look like an airplane!

Incredible video, even if it is short. :)

  • Comment removed

  • Amazing, looks like an airplane if you think about it.

  • I am not sure about the location discussion, but that is indeed a thresher.

  • That looks pretty real

  • i dunno guy's, it looks pretty cheesy..

  • gay

  • Ahh what a lovely specimen. Male, from the glimpse I caught of his claspers.

  • Really? How can you tell if its Male?

  • Great sight. How much was his body lenght?

  • Freaky ? Not really. Beautiful yes.

Look at his or her face ( didn't have chance to ask ) and you will see such a cute animal. Mind you, the tail does pack an awesome punch but I doubt strong enough to hurt a diver.

  • I dunno, I could see it hurting quite a bit. I agree with the rest of what you're saying though

  • @redwhaleshark It's a male. You can tell for a split second as he turns. Awesome footage!

  • @redwhaleshark

    I agree wholeheartedly with you

  • that is FREAKY!

  • wen i was little i got a book of sharks and it had this 1 in it and i used to be amazed by them, and i still am. this is the first time ive seen a vid of one, gosh they r cool

  • Yes. I think like all creatures, they will come near you to investigate and once they find out that we do not merit their attention, they will just swim away. Threshers are so shy and they do not let you get too close to them.

  • Beautiful.

  • that shark looked like a commercial plane on an angle

1st time seein one of its kind

  • thresher sharks are my favorite!!! they are rediculously cute!!!! =]

  • I am with you.

  • thresher sharks eats can food

  • A rare shark is the 6 gill.

  • i agree but difficult for divers to see them. A rare thing must be seen so that it can be appreciated. the only place that offers a good chance to see the threshers in malapuscua in cebu.

  • Awesome shark! 5*

  • Tks.

  • sooo beautiful!

  • Are we playing World of Warcraft again? Lol, if you have been playing it recently, i assume you know what i mean.

  • Thresher Sharks eats what ?

  • Small fishes that they stun with their awesome tail. if you notice, they have a very small mouth compared to the other shark species and such a cute adorable face. If I have a chance, I want to kiss one.

  • you want to kiss it??

  • wow thresher sharks are awesome.........and i agree sharks are good eating but i think we should let them get their numbers back up

  • from what i read, Shark meat on its own is tasteless and contains a high percentage of mercury. So why eat it ? Sharks have a very important role in the Ocean and the human fatality due to shark attacks is less than bees, at less than 10 a year.

  • yes man, leave the ocean alone

  • stop killing sharks franke by some time in the near future, theyll be extinct do u rily want that to happen?

  • @heiroglyphx3 start the barbeque

  • frank your skum! go crall back into your hole and die!

  • dude i dont care bout ma spelling when im tiping! if i was in english test then i would. but im fucking tiping!! its not like im tiping a memo!

  • Then it would be your fault if no one talked to you because they can't read what you're "typing".

  • Fuck you. I'd like to hunt great lumps of fat, like you, asshole.

  • I wish mankind would just leave the ocean alone for a few years. Like a worldwide no fishing year. Let the damn thing replenish.

  • ive done 2 reports for school on thresher sharks. I think they're awesome!

  • I love how the fins are long

it's like an angel of the sea

  • thats what i was about to say!

  • They use their tail to 'round' up shoals of fish and then swim through them. I did hear a Diver was knocked unconscious by a thresher shark once, how true that is I don't know.

  • i love the tail.

  • with a tail that big and a body that narrow.... Is this shark really really fast?

  • If that was me I'd be like, "Oh fuck, where'd it go!?"

  • theres a myth that their tails can decapitate people btw

  • nice tail

  • very fast shark

  • wow awesome. I remember reading about this shark when I was a kid.

  • daaaaaang that thing got a long tail

  • ya, thresher sharks are really afraid of people

  • Nice shot, you don't see too many Threshers anymore these days, beautiful shark they are, one of my favs.

  • WHAT thats 1 of the screen savers!! on the windows!!!!! :O lol looks gd tho :P

  • Wow. Pretty amazing! What a tail!! Uuuhhh

  • Haha, while we were out fishing one day a huge fish got on out lines and it took like an hour to reel in a 300 pound thresher shark. It's tail was stuck in the line because threshers smack the fish/meal first then come in for the kill. So I hope you were in a cage because if that thing would have smacked you.... it wouldn't be pretty.

  • i heard one guy got decapitated by a thresher strike while fishing.

  • Whats decapitated mean? lol

  • haha oh. his head was cut off.
