  • When you split the gears with just the thumb button (without actually shifting the knob,) do you still engage/release the clutch when doing so?

  • @ TheHarleycanuck, if you we're driving for me you'd be gone. Nobody likes a pussyfoot. Hammer down and get shit done!!!

  • What are your office hours?

  • Comment removed

  • 18spd...best transmission ever built!!!

    Have a great weekend,

    Jeff

  • WOWOWOWOW.And i tought that 6 speed was too much XD

  • buckle up :)

  • no seat belt?

  • I count 16 speed and they say that they are 18

  • @9347570 go to my channel and look for the eaton fuller 18 speed video.it shows all the shifts by number...tks for watching..

  • @westsidemonster What you got in that eagle a cummins

  • @svt89 ISX Cummins..

  • @westsidemonster

It proves you should go for an automatic.

  • @kennjohnsen fuck automatics stick shift all the way

  • @9347570 He didnt even start in low is all and he may have skipped one or two

  • @9347570 Yes there are 16 gears, but remember reverse and bog gear =)

  • @9347570 Yes with 2 gear rear

  • @9347570 theres 2 "low" gears that very rarely get used unless your very heavy and on a hill i haul heavy equipment and dont use them very often

  • @9347570 you got 5 on the bottom and 4 on top each gear can get split with an 18 spd so 4+5=9 and 9x2 =18

  • @9347570 ya i did it to its 16

  • @9347570 he skipped the first two gears when he started from a stop.

  • @9347570 depends on if you have a splitter for high and low. its an 18speed.

  • @9347570 He didn't use the low and low high gears. if you add those 2, you have 18 gears. So basically he started out in 3rd gear or 1 direct. You only need low and low high for starting out on hills and or if you are loaded.

  • @9347570 if you would watch closely,,,,,he skiped 2 gears,,,,,,you dont need to use all 18,,,,,,when i drive one,,,i only use 14 of them

  • @9347570 prob didnt use the Low gear setting when taking off

  • Skiping gears makes getting up to speed faster and it saves a little bit of fuel but not much :)

  • last time i checked u only need to split gears in the last two gears

  • seat belt was not

  • it's not really 18 speeds, i thought it was 1 gear then a half gear, but counts as shifting 18 times

  • you shift this thing like a walk in the park

  • buckle up next time, nice video!

  • im not familiar with big trucks transmissions....so what was that little button your were pushing on the side of the stick shift before each shift?

  • Like to know what weight you were pulling here. If you were driving one of my trucks you'd be gone. No reason to pull that hard that fast on the throttle. Try looking up progressive shifting and save yourself wear and tear and fuel.

    Cheers

  • @TheHarleycanuck well Bro..a couple viewers asked that I do a clip on PROGRESSIVE SHIFTING..trailer was empty and on a hill=no harm to the power train..most viewers know you don't shift like this at every stop..been doing this for 30 years with the same company and to think you wouldn't hire me :( maybe I just wouldn't work for you :) tks for the comment..

  • @TheHarleycanuck well he doesn't work for you so shut the hell up....

  • @TheHarleycanuck your an idiot

  • is shirting without the clutch easier than double clutching?

  • @DanW900 not really, but it can give ur left leg a rest :-) U have 2 learn to match ur rpms with ur road speed for each gear. general rule of thumb is 400 rpm for a full gear and 200 rpm for a half. never force the shifter, lightly hold it at the next gear gate and it will drop in when it 'matches' ( rpm 2 mph )

  • Thanks for posting man. Quick question why are you spliting the low side?

  • is the 20 decal for logano or stewart?

  • ta dientet mat

  • thanks for posting bud. I drove 10spds, and they asked me to switch to their 18spd mack. I was lost... lol 18 what... this helps a lot bro. be safe. Ron

  • splitting gears like a pro

  • No Seat Belt ?

  • @draculascoffin I use to not use one either, then I got nailed by PA trooper. $109.50 I'll wear them now.. lol

  • @kb2tfa think thats bad I got stopped in North Carolina at a scale and it cost me 10,500 and trailer with dozer loaded on it bossman forged the permit for NC seeing that it takes 10 business days to get a superload permit there and we dont wear our seat belts either lol

  • lol i hate international interior.. no room for your feet .. bad for tall people .. like me

  • I agree I had a Pro Star. it was kinda ok

  • nice shifting driver.!

  • Nice shifting, makes a 5 speed look like childs play

  • 0-60 before you can finish a sandwich!

    :)

  • You forgot to buckle up.

  • Speed shiftin in a big rig! thats what i call insane! What is it? peterbilt, kenworth, mack? Hope it had a cummins in it!

  • international

  • HOLY SHIT! I need to take a lesson on how to shift that fast, I keep missing gears and its a major piss off.

  • he's shifting that fast because its an 18 speed and he's splitting every gear so the splitts are very close together and there is almost no waiting between shifts

  • If your trying to take full gears (ie 1st to 2nd) i flund that the best way to do that is to do a three count during the shift. count one when you pull it out, two when your in neutral, and three to pull it in to the next gear. done right it goes everytime.

  • OK thanks for the advice man, I'll have to try that some time.

  • thnx. I went from 10spd and had a hard time floating 18. I'll try that

  • You must explain what you are doing so you can educate the next generation of slaves to the world bankers.(World Bankers will burn in Hell).

  • Amazing.

Make mine an Autp thanks. Hahaha

    Impressive work.

    Cheers

    Mick

  • Damn it just keeps shifting lol

  • All the decent companies require a ton of experience, so pretty much you have to start out with a shitty company and work your way up. My step dad drove for a shitty company but then he got experience and now he drives for Navajo Express out of Denver, Co

  • He's still with a Shitty co...

  • Put some more air in your seat driver!

  • You Put air in that seat Will VOID your warranty On a Peterbilt anyway

  • Your right, CR England is a bad company, And yeah it is a shame there are very few good company's. The best my dad worked for was a very small fleet of 3-4 trucks, Boss man always called to make sure the truck was running good and your still safe.

  • Go to your local DMV and see if there are any state approved Class A CDL schools they should help you out, The school is around 3000 bucks if you pay so your best bet would be to find a company that can train you and allow you to get your CDL's last time i checked CR England did that.

  • I would be careful about getting you CDL with a trucking company because they will put you on a contract with them and there is no guarantee that you will keep the job or stay with them. First I would look into a local community college, some have financial assistance to help or take out a loan, or a truckdriving school which is more expensive

  • for a noob like me i would get lost really fast lol

  • Just get on the internet and find a company that trains.

  • id be scared to drive that thing when you pushed in that air knob the dash flexed good shift tho 5 star

  • Damn I never even noticed that, that's hella cheap...

  • so an 18 speed can split all gears, whereas a 13 speed splits only the top four, why can't a 13 speed split the bottom as well? i thought the splitter was just a 2 speed gearbox in the back somewhere, similar to like a 5x2

  • Save fuel and don't slip every gear.

  • yeh but u dont even need to use all the gears if u dont have a trailor. well let me say Split all the gears. drive it like a 9 speed

  • that grey swithch on the side let you catch the next gear

  • you slide it then let off a tad and get back on it and it will catch.

  • hey dude, what are you drivin'?

  • that is a kw or a pet

  • No, Definitely not a Pete

I'm pretty sure it's an International

  • ya an international

  • Looks like the cab of a Western Star and sound like one too.

  • No, it's an International....

I don't think Western Star's wrap around quite as much.

And they don't raise up where the wrap around part is.

  • Yep your right, Didn't really look hard enough and I have driven both. On second glance the cab doesn't even look like a Falling Star.

  • this here is a 2003 international 9400i with a ISX Cummins 18 speed..tks for watching..

  • 9 speeds with dual range...

  • Hah and I have trouble driving a 5 speed honda lol

  • That's the way how to shift an 18..well done i only split the hight gears ,any one reading this follow this vid..it help's to slip the gear into place

  • easy

  • go stewart!!!

  • bikeitup14 you should get some money up first anywhere from 2 to 4 grand because thats how much it costs and start out in a local job because you can't drive out of your state in a semi truck until ur 21 years old

  • right now im 12 and ill turn 13 in 2 months but my dad drives an 04 kenworth t600b with an 10 speed eaton fuller and its got a 390hp twin turbo cat c13 in it and sometimes he drives a 95 t600 with an 11 liter detroit 60 series 395hp and an 10 speed eaton fuller but I wan't to drive a truck when i get older like when im 18 im gonna get a jobwhen i turn sixteen to get the money for the cdl theres a local drivng school around here but i can shift both trucks with my left hand when my dads driving

  • no seatbelt !! LMAO...haha

  • tony stewart fan nice lol

  • Hey, im 15 so i was wondering how i can get into trucking when i turn 18-20.

And also, how should i learn to drive before i go and get my CDL

  • I would suggest driver training, they put on an awsome course,or if you know someone that drives truck tag along you can learn alot by just watching.a lot of companys require experance before they hire..good luck..

  • Good luck getting a job dude. I'm 18 and got my Class A and everything, but no one will hire me due to my age/experience.

  • How the hell you are 18 and you got a CDL? you must be 21 right? or they lowerd the age? I got mines back when I turned 21 and that was the LEGAL age to obtain a CDL.

  • Well, all 18 year olds can get a CDL, but like Kenwortht600B said, we cant leave the state we live in. I, for example, live in California and cant leave it. I may drive up to the border, but thats it. I can pass any border leaving CA. Theres a bunch of other restrictions, too..

  • I know some kids will go to milk truck companies and go for a ride to learn. Hooking up hoses, cleaning out tanks, unloading. Whatever they have for you take it. You might get to be a gopher until your able to drive, but your learnin. Dont try to be around the ones that always cut the corners, they are the ones that have there trucks in the shop alot and dont have a job long!!

  • @bikeitup14 DOT says you have to be 21 to drive over the road. Driving school can be expensive ( I paid about 3000) but you make that back fairly quickly. Been driving 10 years now and do not regret it, Great job for single guys who want to see the country and be paid for it, but murder on a family man. I drive locally now. Good luck to you!

  • sweet. nice no seat belt too haha.

  • would you believe me if I said I forgot to put it on..LOL.

  • can u message me on specs of ur truck?

  • then you should change the title numnutts! GEEeeeezz!

  • have a nice DAY..GEEeeezz!!!

  • I SURE DO MISS THE 18, MY COMPANY ONLY PUTS 8LoLos IN OUR TRUCKS.

  • why am i only counting 16 spds? start out in 3rd?

  • I didn't use low,thats the two missing shifts..

  • looks like your stick is about 3 feet away from you. I like it right by my leg.

  • it's not quite 3ft away'but what can you do,its the way it is..

  • Oh I see. Just teaching everyone how to shift it WITH the splited gears? It's good for rookies. If I were a driver inspecter, I would definatly have this on my website for nOOb truckers!

  • thanks for the comment..

  • you couldn't have said it any better, this video is basically a demo, nothing more nothing less and if someone can't see that, well I can't help them.one doesn't drive like this all the time its only under certain conditions ie-heavy loads, road conditions, hills etc.

  • You don't have to split every gear you know! Thats only if your loaded heavy!

  • yea, but this is a video on a 18spd not a 18 driven like a 9,13 or 15 Bud>

  • The only video I've found where the direct/overdrive switch was used the right way!!

  • thanks,appreciate the comment..

  • so that is how you guys shift so fast

  • I'm tired of all the idiots on here talkin' noise about,, you know you don't need to split gears,,or why split the low side? that is when you are supposed to split em keeps the engine in the powerband dummy.. and that dude SEANSLUTH that posted a 18spd video then drove it like a 13, what the hell?.. yes you can drive it like a 9spd but in my truck it has 3.36 gears and you need all 18 I promise!! A mile marker every 30 seconds do the math!!! a mile a minute is 60MPH

  • damn that must be annoying i think i'll stick to 5 gears.

  • it's nothing to it.what most folks don't understand about an 18 speed,is that you don't have to shift it like that.you can also shift an 18 speed like a 9-speed.i have a "lightning-10" speed transmission that shifts like a super-10 and it's simply a breeze.

  • your quite right phoobear22,one doesn't have to row like this all day,it depends on the conditions, load etc,thanks..

  • My dad's newer 13 speed, if you shift like a 9 and go from 5 LOW to 6 LOW it is rough going in and almost lugs the motor, thats on bobtail. How close are the gears split?

  • Which 10 spd is everyone calling the bitch box???

  • lol! It sounds like you drive an old 5spd maxidyne, am I right? Been there done that with the 5spd and an 18spd... my preference; an 18spd. 5 spd is too slow where pulling from a stop with an 18, you can be picking and splitting where with an 5, you gotta wait until the tach falls far enough to get it into gear, hated that! I drove for 31 years and out of all the trannies I had, I still prefer the 18spd.

    Thanks for the post!

  • I love your office.. I'm hoping to get one just like it as soon as I finish this damn course

  • detroit diesel series 60 love the sound

  • Nice shifting!! But do me a favor and throw your seatbelt on just in case some dumbass 4-wheeler cut you off you won't go out the window. That way you can continue to make good vids like this one.
