  • Were did u buy the rolling pin

  • @issel20

    Hi

It is from India but if you are staying in the US, you can find one at Indian grocers.

  • Hello! I want to ask you that you don't need any seasoning for the flour?

  • @hienlavaydo

    Hi

If you wish you can season with your favorite spices but the flour I use comes premix with salt in it.

  • nice kitchen

  • @TheBolillo310

    Hi

    Thanx!

  • @TheBolillo310 is there a trick to gettin the tortillas off of the wax paper, it seems to get stuck on there for me, thanks

  • @TheBolillo310

    Hi

Use dry flour more if you need or try with plastic wrap...

  • Is the corn in the picture peaches and cream, or Ambrosha? either way, it's the best corn available!

  • @jjn931

    HI

I usually buy sweet american corn..

  • It would be faster if you had a tortilla press. Depending where you live, they are not very expensive.

  • @leapingfroglady

    HI

I did share another video recently with tortilla maker and press both..

  • can i use regular flour?

  • @unique10303

    HI

I have also video on regular flour tortilla, plain flour tortilla or flour tortillas...enjoy!

  • is it cheaper to make corn or flour tortillas?

  • @preston9019

I don't compare price but yes, I do compare freshness....I have noticed that whenever I go to supermarket, I have noticed that they have same packs of tortillas for several days and not sure when manufacture made them...so they are pretty old....once you make I am sure you will think, you have been eating trash!

  • dont need to put any oil or butter in the skillet? 0: im curious

  • @Trancidonia

    Hi

    No oil or butter needed.

  • Great job!. So simple and so good!

  • @TalorinSath

  • @stefaniavargas08

    Hi

Also don't forget to watch recent video of corn tortillas..and visit playlist section on this channel for more mexican recipes...enjoy!

  • thank you! very well explained and seems easy. It is great that in homemade tortillas, there is no fat! Not like those at the store with the hydrogenic oil, and trans fat.

  • @lassophia

    Hi

Yes, you are right...not even any leavening agent...so enjoy!

  • TORTEEYA...pendeja

  • @aguapura

    Thanx.

  • Thumbs up If your Mexican

  • @xtcmora

    Thanx and enjoy!

  • why not just get a tortilla press, you just break a bit of dough, press it and you have a perfectly shaped tortilla within seconds.

  • @moewishaw

    Hi

I did show in my recent video with tortilla maker...enjoy!

  • Just wanted to know with regard to the tortilla flour, is it basically just flour made from maize (don't live in the US so am unfamiliar with tortilla flour)?

  • @allthings509

    Hi

    yes, it is maze flour...

  • @allthings509 hi its flour called corn masa flour, look out for a brand called Maseca, which you can buy online.

  • thank you for posting... does the dough in the bowl dry out while you are making one, and do you have to keep adding water?

can I made wrap like this with besan?

  • @hipretty

    Hi

Yes, you have to keep sprinkling little water before making each tortillas. I haven't made tortillas with besan but you can make very thin pudas(dosa) and use it as a wrap...enjoy!

  • @SuperVeggieDelight Thank you! :-D

    subbing!

  • @hipretty

    Hi

    Keep enjoying!

  • What i like is you do it southwest style. No baking powder or anything else.Just water and flour.

  • @BryceFilmz

    HI

If it is possible without anything then it is better to make naturally, I know that i have to do little cut/paste but that's perfectly fine with me...keep enjoying!

  • @rosewood513

    HI

Sorry I will not try to help next time.

    Have a great day.

  • I am sorry but you have to watch a real Mexican person before you tell everyone that this is Mexican style tortilla, first the dough is too dry, then Mecicans NEVER cookie cut the tortilla, then the tortilla is supposed to puff up like a pillow. Also tortillas should not be much larger than 6 inches. But you did try

  • @rosewood513

    Hi

    Thanx for sharing..enjoy!

  • @rosewood513

I think you quibble too much.

  • @Messistale

Where did I really quibble? I don't have time to quibble...if you find something inapropriate, do let me know but I am not trying to argue with anything. I just said in thanx for shairng..enjoy to your comment. Did I say something wrong?

  • @SuperVeggieDelight

    LOL

    Not you! Rosewood513 does.

  • @Messistale

Oh yah...you are right...sorry I did not see properly who it belongs to...really sorry again...thanx and enjoy!

  • @SuperVeggieDelight

NP Thanks... and I do. ^^

  • @Messistale

    Hi

    Great..

  • @sayali160

    HI

    Premix flour contain salt. enjoy!

  • if we dont get this masa harina can we use normal corn flour to make tortilla .pls let me knw.

  • @zarmeena4u

    Good question!

Can't Let This One Go Unanswered, can I?

Yes, you can use corn flour (brand: MAIZENA) instead of masa harina, even if it's not the same.

  • I love all of your vegetarian recipes. Good job!

  • @1imesub

    Hi

    Thanx and enjoy!

  • these look soooo good. i remember being little and my waking up to the smell of my dad making homemade corn tortillas. soo rememberable

  • @yashhernandez94

    Hi

Wow! glad to know...yes, I love the smell when you bake something fresh...enjoy!

  • Apologise for my ignorance, but, is that flour "normal" corn flour, or some premade specific for tortilla?

  • @AndreTheGiant1991

    Hi

You are perfectly fine...no apology please...I use premix corn flour tortilla mix but last time I made at home. I took 1 cup regular corn flour(you can use white or yello) and 3 tbsp plain flour to make tortillas and they came out great. Soon I am going to post recipe. Enjoy!

  • @AndreTheGiant1991 She used masa harina, which is a dehydrated nixtamalized tortilla mix. To make real corn tortillas you have to nixtamalize corn, pat it out into tortillas, and cook them over a comal. The Nixtamalization brings out the hidden vitamins and nutrients and is very essential to making real tortillas.

You might be able to use corn flour (not corn starch as they say in Britain) that is ground very finely, but I would not suggest it. Do not use corn meal.

  • @TheDiverpro

    Hi

Thanx for sharing all these...keep enjoying!

  • ur husband must be really lucky !

  • @CocaC

    Hi

Yes, he is and me too. Enjoy!

  • @SuperVeggieDelight Great ! Good wishes for u and ur husband from a Mexican

  • @CocaC

    HI

    Oh thanx a lot..I wish you happyness...enjoy!

  • I prefer fresh corn torillas, no corn flour; you boil the corn grains with a little lime until the "skin" comes out and then you take the corn to a "molino" and make fresh dough, but I understand this can't be made outside of Mexico and other countries. This seems like a nice alternative if I ever have to move out of my country, good work

  • @sonyaristizabal

    Hi

Yes, that would be lot of work just to make few tortillas here in the USA. But sounds interesting and healthy. Enjoy!

  • Nice!!

  • @pachuko4

    Hi

    Enjoy!

  • nice!!! i got a rolling thing like that .what is it?

  • @drew7473

It is basically rolling board and pin. Enjoy!

  • Thanks! Great recipe.

  • @chrissis111

    Hi

Thanx..easy one is coming soon. Keep enjoying.

  • She's adoring :)

  • @Junije1

    Hi

    thanx and enjoy!

  • this is a lot of work to make one tortilla.. using a tortilla press is much easier.

  • @lauries510

    Hi

Easy way is coming soon. These days, I add 2 tbsp of all purpose flour for 1 cup of corn flour and it makes great tortiall without any mash. You can just roll them very easily.

  • wow videos para hacer tortillas! q bueno que yo solo tengo que ir a una tortilleria y listo aunque si las he hecho

TIP.: Instead of using the roller you can use a pan to smash the dough and that would be an ecelent sustitutefor the tortilla press

  • @TheLushow

    Hi

    Thanx for sharing.

  • HI There - I live in Saudi Arabia and can't get decent tortillas. This helps a lot.

I bought a tortillia press and it seems to make them too thick. Can you give me an idea of how thick the dough should be before I start heating it in the pan?

  • @rteubner

    HI

I did not have a good luck with tortilla press either so I started making the way I showed in video. It's not about dough but it's tortilla maker that doesn't reall help.

  • @rteubner

That's true about tortilla presses. They tend to make thick tortillas.

Commercial tortillas are rolled between two steel rollers with a lot of pressure and that makes them very thin.

To get thin tortillas at home, I have to roll them some after pressing them.

Using some pastry flour in the mix or adding a couple of teaspoons of cornstarch to the mix makes the dough easier to roll thin.

  • @Txsray

    Hi

Plain flour(all purpose) seems to work great than any other flour since it gives good binding. I am going to post recipe soon. Enjoy!

  • is there really much difference using Masa Harina compared with normal flour. is it worth the extra cost. does it taste much different? is there noticable difference

  • @210482fmj

    Hi

If you use normal corn flour, add 1-2 tbsp on all purpose-plain flour and you won't feel any difference. Enjoy!

  • Nunca habia visto que alguien hiciera tortillas de ese modo...

  • How do you make the softer flour tortillas from scratch?

  • @Annazayla

    Hi

Just as you see in video...I make from corn flour

  • please smile

  • @kinmanyuen

    Hi

    Now I do. Enjoy!

  • You have to watch out what kind of corn flour you use. Unless its organic or specifically says non-GMO, I wouldn't use it.

  • @pkkda

    Hi

Thanx for sharing. I always read and then buy, but never know....so keep sharing.

  • Is it crispy or can you wrap it?

  • @Vercippu

    Hi

These corn tortillas are soft so you can wrap and make any mexican dish with it such as Enchiladas and so on....enjoy!

  • All purpose flour is just to make the masa easier to work with. And definately, a tortilla press would even eliminate the need to reshape the tortilla with anything, they come out ready to be put on the grill. Also, the majority of people don't use dry flour to apply it to the ball, they lightly wet their hands so that the masa doesn't stick to them, it's been done this way before the Spanish conquest. This takes practice, whichever way you decide to make them!

  • @gospelnews123

    Hi

Thanx for sharing. Will try your way next time.

  • Very nice tutorial!

  • @CaptainGratiot

    Hi

    Enjoy!

  • can u tell what flour we need to take??? as in India u don get premixed tortillas flour

  • @anu2602

    Hi

Just corn flour. White or yellow works and it is basically makki ki roti that is made in India. Enjoy!

  • Love it. Will try it just because i watch it here. Thanks

  • @Fadedcactus

    Hi

    Enjoy!

  • Your tips saved me!! I made my dough too loose and after I watched your video I realized all the things I did wrong. I should have watched you FIRST before I tried making tortillas. My tortillas tasted more like Indian style roti flatbread than any tortilla I've tried before. I used mostly the Mesa flour with 25% white flour and a touch of salt.

  • @Mjbabycakes7072

    Hi

Thanx for sharing. I don't add all purpose flour at all but I think I am going to try next time. Enjoy!

  • @SuperVeggieDelight

I think I made my dough too thick. I couldn't get the tortillas thin enough for my liking. I ate 4 or 5 and then 1 the next next day. My stomach felt irritated. Yesterday I didn't eat any and I felt fine. When I eat the Indian Rotis I don't get that feeling. Does the corn flower take a while to get use to? I've never had this problem with store purchased tortillas.

    Thanks for your videos!!

    Heres the recipe I used:

    1150 ML Water

    750 g Masa flour

    430 g all purpose flour

  • @Mjbabycakes7072

    Hi

As I said, I don't add all purpose flour to my tortillas. It might be possible that not corn flour but all purpose flour might be making them heavier to digest. Next time, just add 1-2 tbsp of all purpose flour only, Just to work with corn flour easier. And I usually can't eat more than 2 tortillas, I know it may vary from person to person but you can balance out with other food such as we usually make enchiladas out of it...so

  • HI!

Could you tell me, what does that premixed flour contains?

Cause i don't live in the usa, so i'm not really sure if i can find in our supermarket, also if i can find it, i'm pretty sure it'll cost 3 times as much as a self priduced one.

    Thanks

  • @Lionall87

    Hi

It is basically white corn flour you can use any corn flour to make this tortillas. Enjoy!

  • @SuperVeggieDelight Thank you so much ^^

  • @Lionall87

    Hi

    Most welcome anytime.

  • how much dry ingredients?

  • @AbottNCostello

    Hi

    More detail please.

  • Those are some good tricks, kudos on the TUT and thank you!!!

  • @cipher2

    Hi

Yes, indeed, for beginners. Keep enjoying.

  • merci beaucoup

  • mmm i love corn tortillas, a little hint my great aunt taught me is to use the thin produce bags (the kind they give you at the supermarket for your fruits and vegetables), they stick the least.

  • @ikylejm

    Hi

Thank you so much for sharing. This kind of tips helps me and others a lot. Please keep sharing and enjoying.

  • unwanted unnecessary part - flash

(at least that's what its called when you're molding metal)

  • @firexeye also, i like your rolling pin =D

  • @firexeye

    Hi

YOu can get one like me at Indian grocers. Enjoy!

  • muchasss graciass :D

  • Can I add salt and unsalted butter to the flour? Or will that ruin the mixture? It's just that it seems it would lack flavor without salt or something like butter to give it a good taste. What do u thinK? Great video! = D

  • @ForeverHeaven1

Flour is ready to use with everything in it. But if you use corn flour only then add salt. But I use ready corn tortilla mix.

    Enjoy!

  • thank you very much

a and you are a sweet

    wonderful woman ))

  • @morikh24

    Hi

    You most welcome anytime.

Thanx for your great words about me.

  • Thanks for the video. I want to make these for my catering business. If anyone asks how I learned, I can tell them the pretty lady on YouTube taught me :)

  • @labby11

    Hi

    Oh wow!

Thanx for giving credit but you don't have to. Let me know if I can help you with anything while you try this recipe. Usually ready Masaharena is used but these days I add just little bit of all purpose flour to make them with great shape, and also make easy to handle the dough. Good luck.

  • thanks dear

  • @Eliaziah

    Hi

    You most welcome

  • ok I forgive you!...kekek

  • were is the corn??

  • @crazycrash666

Oh, it's just for presentation only.

  • Great video, very informative. I like that rolling pin, can that be obtained in a Latin/Mexican food store? Were you dipping the Maseca dough balls into ordinary all-purpose flour before rolling them out, or was that just more Maseca? Can tortillas be made with ordinary corn meal that has been further ground down to a finer flour in a food processor?

  • @yodoc200

    Hi

Haven't visited any latin/mexican store but would love to go and I will sure visit soon. But you can get at indian grocers the rolling pin like me. I was just dusting balls with all purpose flour to roll my tortilla. Dusting into flour makes easier to roll.

To make this corn tortilla, I use ready tortilla mix but you can use any fine corn flour not corn meal. Tortilla requiers ver fine flour almost like powder but not really powdery...

    Enjoy!

  • Small tip: one you put the tortilla on the griddle, on high heat, flip it right after 5 seconds, then let it cook on one side, flip and press with hand so that the tortilla fill with hot air, otherwise they don't look that good...and using a tortilla press makes it way faster...is good to buy one if you use it a lot like we do.

  • @Gabrielitodlp

    Hi

    Great tips...keep sharing.

    Thanx

  • @Gabrielitodlp Good tips

  • are those corn tortillas because they look like flour.....? but thanks so much for postinng.. i think im gonna give it a try! =)

  • @JustNess78

Hi these are corn tortillas made with ready made corn tortilla mix

  • Hi

You most welcome. Thanx and keep enjoying.

  • Hi, I tried your yogurt recipe and it was awesome! Your corn tortilla looks alittle like your using jowar flour , and making jowar rotla. Is it similiar?

  • Hi

Corn flour is like a Juwar flour but juwar flour is yellowish and corn flour is white or yellow. It's exactly made like juwar rotla but thinner than juwar rotla. Keep enjoying

  • hi, i tried to make yogurt, second batch from the 1st ; i ate it, i got sick :-( it wasnt like yorgurt at all. i dont know what went wrong. the vessel was the same one i boiled it, kept it in oven as u advised. any idea ?

  • Hi

I am surprised totally since I haven't heard anybody saying that they got sick after eating yogurt. How long do you keep the yogurt to culture? Also are you keep tracking of temprature? I think if it's problem for you, I recommend not to try anymore...good luck

  • @SuperVeggieDelight unfortunately i dont have thermometer :-( anyways , thanks a lot for the effort, appreciated... enjoy !

  • @SuperVeggieDelight Some people have trouble with lactoses.. With yogurts are worst..

  • Hi

I couldn't understand what you trying to say. Can you please explain in detail. Any help and suggestion would be appreciated

    Thank you

  • Hi

I feel sorry that this recipe doesn't work for you. But when you have thermometer, make very small batch of yogurt..good luck. I have been making yogurt at home since years now, never had a problem. But always feel free to ask question.

  • Hi, Great video. Can you do a video on how to make papri na lot? Thank you :)

  • Hi
