@ThOmAsDeLiRiOuS Mike Portnoy left after the release of A7X's Nightmare album. He left DT because he wanted to go on a 5 year hiatus but the rest of the guys in DT weren't ready to stop, so DT moved on. He never left DT for any other band.

he's great because he can be a beast when he wants to, but also plays slowly and with feel. joey jordison and the likes are always hitting on the double bass, can't do something calm and proper.

@zinck8 No, not a a 5A. He uses his own custom sticks. His custom sticks are 16 1/8 inches long, .531 inches in diameter and have a 747 taper and tip where as 5A's are 16 inches long, .551 inches long and have a smaller taper and head.

Dude... Portnoy said this song was for his dad in an inter view I watched. And I get the feeling when James was singin these lyrics he knew that somthing big was going to happen. Then Mike left Dream theater for A7X... (BAD ASS in some way's) Sad day. But when he recharges his body he'll come back with a bang. He just need's some time with his wife and kid's. He need's to see what he has, after losing his father i'm sure he need's time to fill spaces and reflect. Just don't pass jugement.
