I love Iljimae, one of the best drama i ever seen! The ending... SPOILER!!! Iljimae is not dead, the beginning of episode 1 and the ending of 20 are the same story. Iljimae is back after 4 years. Why? Because, after all the deaths, the revenge, the hate and so many suffering moments, all the characters had need of one thing: time, time to rebuilt their lives, expecially Yongee/Geom. And then... He's back! It's an intelligent ending, realistic, very well made! =)

@luvBB4lyf Hey, he didn't die. If you could recall the beginning of episode 01 is actually the link towards the ending of last episode where he fights the palace guard in that water pool… Hope this helps.

The ending isn't that sad though because SPOILER ALERT! SPOILER ALERT! he's not dead. The director even clarified this.

@BlackHorse119 heyy, you can google it for more detail xD but the director said that the sword that Chun cut Iljimae with was his dull edged sword and a cut to the back with that sword wasn't likely to kill him. also in the epilogue remember how yong jae got 2 pairs of shoes delivered to his island?? one pair is said to be iljimae's ^^ hope that helps!

although i loved the series i just wish they tied the loose ends in the end

I haven't finished the drama yet, but I'm loving me... It made me pass through different moods, from being happy to laughing then feeling sad then crying then being anxious...

@themusictomyears FYI it is he tell the king to surrender the throne and he wobbles off mumbling yi won ho and other stuff and yong cries about how he lets the king go then chun ambushes him but he defeats him technically then he lets him live and he uses yong's sword and kills yong and Si Hu aka Cha Dol is the son of Yi Won Ho and he silts Chun throat and at the very end its very confusing a bit but its episode 1 all over again

@sirrama99 Apparently, Young (Iljimae) does not die. That's what the directors said. It's supposed to be that he's living on, both in the hearts of the people and in real life, but he's not publicizing it in order to protect the people he loves
