  • What is with the garbage trucks on the flat cars???

  • @mike92586 They are just being transported from Point A to Point B. Assuming as an example they were going from New England to CA, it would cost far less to transport them via rail.

  • great video, nice catch with #5000 and the garbage trucks!

  • @Chessiecat97 Thank you! Appreciate that very much!

    Best,

    Lyman

  • Are they bigger than the AC4400? They look the same to me.

  • @SaltineCrackaAss Yeah....they are bigger and more powerfull (6300 gross HP).

  • Rare Diversity Engine

  • cheese

  • Well done compile with the AC6000's.. Most are in storage now with only a few out there now. Including 5000, 638 and others

  • Really? In storage? Why?

  • Thanks for the information. Appreciate it!

  • They were in storage due to the econmy dropping down the toliet bowl. After the GE Meltdown with the GEVO's and turbocharger failure, they were brought back into service. I caught a CSX train with 6 of them together.

  • Oo ok.COOL do u hav a video?

  • Yes, type in on my channel CSX R409 With 36,000 HP

  • they must b out of storage now cuz i saw like 20 at the selkirk yard

  • They Are not in storage anymore except for maybe about 15 to 25% of them. Majority are back in service.

  • What is exactly the difference between the two?

  • Between that AC6000CW and the AC60CW? None whatsoever. The latter is just an abbreviation of the former, often used interchangeably.

  • Thats what I thought

  • Seems like those 6000 hp AC units would be an excellent match for the mountain line west of Westfield (& Springfield) to Pittsfield. Both for the climb and dynamic braking coming down.

You can hear the show some ways away from Becket and Washington MA.

  • Thanks for the excellent input. Are you talking through the Berkshires?

  • Absolutely! First U.S. mountain railroad route, the reason NYC's Berkshires (2-8-4s) came to be.

Not to mention, New England's rail freight connection to the west, since the Poughkeepsie Bridge deck burned in '74.

  • Thank you for the information! - Lyman

  • so those are the 6000 horsepower engines i have heard about.

  • dude i have that exact same loco. CSX AC6000CW diversity #5000

  • WOW Waste Management trucks. Something you don't see very often on 90ft flatcars.

  • Good point, and now that you mention it I honestly cannot recall having ever seen that before. Begs the question if they were going out to be overhauled or perhaps on their way back from same? Please check it out at my Site if you can; the Hi-Def is worth it!

  • Nice video !!! I really like those AC6000 !!!

  • Thanks! Anytime I am in W. Springfield that is pretty much all I see anymore. For the heck of it I'm going to look up and see just how many they have compared to their other Motive power. Many thanks again! - Lyman
