  • Eating with hands is not a gross act, it depends upon the culture. There are certain food which are best to be eaten with hand. Imagine eating a sandwich with a fork and knife ! If you want to try Bengali food in true bengali style, wash your hands clean and start eating out of your own hands. If you do not think you can keep own hand clean, it would be a pity :0)

  • As a bengali, I can give you one slight variation here. When you mix the chilli powder and haldi, add a pinch of sugar (granulated sugar will be better). This will give a nice sweetish taste to your eggplant fry.

  • what is the first spice that he adds to the dish? Please help...I love the energy of his videos..great food and a gorgeous chef :) with delicious foods...

Thre is no fucking difference between a coloured human and a white human. Sick fucks like you dont deserve to be on this earth. Dont you eat your fried chicken with you hands you fuck??

  • @Teltcher .. what we speak reflects ourselves.. dear teltcher by talking ill of others if u think ur superior.. .. then ur wrong.. cause u just revealed to us all that u have low standard!.but we forgive u. and pray GOD to help u... cause u r disaster! wake up and grow up.. not on ur body ..i meant on ur thoughts and save urself.. coz otherwise u r yourown destroyer!

  • @Teltcher

One thing I will tell u man.Believe me ,u people dont know how any food test good. No one can ever prepare better food than Indian. They know secret of food.

Why food is taken in hand u know? We use our 3 sense to enjoy food. One is smell, second is touch, third is test. If someone tell u close ur nose ,and test the food, can u enjoy the same ?No not at all.

It does not mean that Indians r uncivilized. It means u need to learn from Indian ,the secret of food.See how dumb u r .

  • @gemphu1234 Learn English you black pi. you blacks eat with your smelly ass

  • @Teltcher

What an uncivilized asshole u r . U BELONG TO A FUCKING THIRD GRADE COUNTRY.

TRY TO UNDERSTAND ENGLISH FIRST.AFTER THAT U WRITE HATE COMMENT.

OTHERWISE SMELL UR UGLY MOTHER'S ASS HOLE.

    BASTARD ,JACKASS,CHEAP MAN

  • @Teltcher

India has most of the miss world .What ur 3rd grade country has.

.Any way neither I am black nor I hv ugly Cambodian face. Go and see ur ugly monkey like face with tiny eyes.

Put ur pink cock in ur mother's mouth .I dont give shit on u or Cambodia.Nobody is interested.Cambodian monkey .LOL

Keep smelling. Best of luck .Low grade Cambodia

  • I made this yesterday and it turned out really soggy and when i wanted to eat it it came apart and was not holdable. It tasted nice though! Any tips to make it firm?

  • @happytym8 do you wash the eggplant after cutting or before cutting? you should wash the eggplant before cutting it, then wipe it dry before seasoning it.. ;)

  • i love the way u eat

  • Hey chef, can you add the recipe to your video description? It's hard for me to understand you accent and I couldn't tell what you were saying was "tumeric", I had to find the name in the comments. Also, I don't understand what you are eating the eggplant with. Dhal rice? Mild Dahl. Do you spell it "Dal"? Otherwise, great video, I'm going to try this when I get home and eat it without the "Dal?" because I don't know how to make that yet. Hope it tastes good on it's own!

  • i do enjoy a lot watching you cook...you not only cook nice and healthy food but look jolly and full of spirit...maybe it's your secret in cooking palatable dishes!!!

  • Are you kidding me .... eating with your hands like that? That's gross!

  • @craigenputtock craigenbuttock , i believe my own hands rather than you picking your nose then wipe it off the spoon and give your mom to eat!!

  • Whats the name of the yellow powder? please

  • @lorenayo its turmeric powder. if you go to an indian store just ask for turmetic powder or 'haldi'. 'haldi' is the indian name for it. its very good for your health too, with lots of health values.

  • well done

  • can we add some amchur powder for sourness and some jaggery powder to enhance the taste??

  • chef u really have my kind of food taste.. wow.. yummy with dhal rice.. thanks gonna go walmart today to get eggplant and try for tomorrow dish.. thanks chef..

  • begun bhaji!

  • I tried this and it turned out wonderfully! Thank you for this recepie.. Love your authentic recepies..

  • looks great but why eat like a caveman?

  • @dsr20631 its bengali/indian culture to eat rice with your hands.

  • @dsr20631 it's called CULTURE. Different countries/races have different cultures and religions. Why cant you accept? I think it's you who lives in the cave.

  • what a friendly man. :D

  • He's such a good chef..loved it

  • I have a quick question, when you fry the eggplant like that, it might be crispy on the outside but is it fully-cooked in the inside?

  • No mini.egg plant is a vegetable, which cooks in minute.

  • love this man, just like naimul

  • he is so good:))

  • Lovely I wanted this receipe. But I was looking under Eggplant Wedges, thought this is south indian dish.

Great I just tasted two pieces in one old indian function in Auckland-NZ. Here very Big eggplant coming. there wedges are about Puri size. We will make tommrrow. You are marvelous!

  • This is mostly used by Bengalis. But this is not originally Bengali food. This is an Oriya dish cooked in the temple of Orissa since 2000 years.Bengali loves it as in past Oriya cooks(Called Nana/Bhaina) were famous in west Bengal and engaged in Bengali nawab family for cooking.

  • can't wait to try!

  • ummmmm they look good

  • they taste good fried to a crisp

  • Have this dal with the eggplant and some fried fish :P

  • yumm

  • U r so funny :P

    I love ur Videos !!!!!

  • Your energy is awesome. I don't even eat cooked food (I eat all raw) but your personality was enough to allow me to sit through this entire video. I can see your passion and you shine beautifully. Blessings.

  • chef,,do u know how to make,,Makh dooh eggplant,,? or have you heard of this? its a syrian, jordanian, lebanese dish i think,,

  • how would it be if we sprayed them with oil after applying the masalas and then BAKED them? could be more healthy

  • 5 Stars!! I'm Bengali. This is 100% Authentic.

  • a good substitute for veggie pattie in the burger.

  • India and Bangladesh: Lets Unite Both countries

  • i am a maharashtrian and we prepare the same dish but we call it vangyachi kaapa

  • you definitely missed one ingredient which is a must in bengali "begun bhaja" ..... thats sugar !!!! and begun bhaja tastes great with puri ... or as the bengali s call it .... "luchi" ......

  • Sorry, I am a Bengali and I beg to differ with you! May be you add sugar to everything you eat, just don't say that all Bengalis do that :)

  • Dont mind Som,I want to ask u.Who told u,we add sugar to everything. This is not true. I used to take my food in Bengali hotel .Ur food is exactly what we do.

  • I don't mind at all except the fact that you are talking to a Bengali about Bengali food. May be you used to make food in a Bengali hotel and you used to put sugar in everything but that doesn't mean that all Bengalis do that. My family and my friends' families and several other bengali families we know don't do that. I don't want to say anything more on this subject; just want to request that please do say what you want to abt urself and plz dont include all bengalis in that. thanks!

  • Neither bengli nor we put sugar. That I was trying to say.U have misconception. There is nothing to mind. U r overreacting.

  • :D......I am so sorry! I had just woken up and don't know what I read :(...I guess I was not fully awaken!...Yes, I overreacted and I am sorry for that ...I hope you don't mind as I was almost sleeping at that time!....

  • please, please please please... add more bengali dishes. I am german and my husband bengali... I want to do my best in cooking. Just like Luchi... please please

  • Looks great. I see mu mother uses a pinch of maida instead of rice flour, I guess the purpose is same to make it crispy from outside.

  • i luv the way u eat n go "mmmhhhmmmm"...."aah"..."mmm"....dat really inspires me to cook it asap n taste it n go "mmmmmmm"

    god bless u vahechef ji!

  • Thats a lot of salt!!!

  • Egg plant? Aubergine ...

The slices are far too thick! More oil is required - your is too dry

Rice flour IS ALWAYS NECESSARY for a crunchy outside and soft inside - the way is should be.

However nice to see he eats with his hand like a true Bengali!!!

  • Love it, my mum makes this all the time! Yummy.

  • Hello my late mother used to make this. I thought it was just a bangladeshi recipie. I didn't know it was popular all over Bengal. She used to make it without the rice flour though. I'll try it next time with rice flour. Brought back happy memories of my mum and childhood. Many thanks for your recipies and love you enthusiasm. Great work!

  • as a Bengali,i'm so glad to find our alltime fave dish here!it's been being done in our family kitchen for centuries.may i add our observation: the LESS the oil, the MORE will it be soaked by eggplant slices. try to double the oil and in the final couple of seconds raise the flame to highest. you will see oil incredibly coming outof cooked slices. alternatively apply brushed or sprayed oil and bake in 350'F.

  • thanks good suggestion

  • so generous of you! Sanjay, we can tell you've got a BIG heart. God bless you.

  • Also, If I may, Please add some powdered sugar to it to get a crispy carmalized coating outside the egg plant or brinjal. Just like you, if you don't want to use too much oil, at the end sprinkle some water and put a lid on for steamed cooking. Also...please try to eat it with Khichuri!

    Regards...

  • @dekhisekdin you normally eat this with what? rice?
