I have to ask, is this is the Fralin single coil 51 pickup? Or is it the split coil 51 pickup?

Also, isnt it very dark and heavy for a vintage pickup?

That sounds so nice. I just bought a JBT401 copy of a '54 Pbass. Its great also and a real deal. I'm thinking of buying the bridge and pup covers for it. Do they restrict playing/get in the way?

ok, so i'm looking at this bass, and i love the looks, but is the tone worth it? is it atleast kinda versatile? i'm in a pinch between looks and sound, and sofar this is the bass, but i need to know what you (someone who owns one) thinks about the tone. thanks!

@sirduckfuck These basses are great. i own a blonde one, and they are the shit. they sound more obtuse than the modern ones, but its cool. also, the single coils have a ton of hum.

Why thanks for your kind words fellow P lover. I don't know where Lindy got his measurements for this humbucking 51 pickup? but you will have to make your pickup pocket a titch bigger. I used 50 grit sand paper wrapped around a squarish carpenters pencil. The pickup is like 1/32 of an inch to big. Plus the pickup has a real dark tone that almost blocks out the tone knob, had to switch out the stock capacitor. Stock pickup sounded great, but this one sounds great in a different way, plus no hum.
