its all preference. It depends on what kind of music you play. There is no right or wrong way to how a snare sounds. There may be a setting where, yeah the snare just sounds absolutely horrid, but it could be how the guy and his band (hypothetically speaking) play.

Ive been playing the drums for about 2 years...not that im great...but im a huge fan of maiden, seen them live twice, both front row, and only ever seen niko to quavers with his right hand on the hi-hat, and only seen clive do semi-quavers on the hi hat with his right hand, not both hands...

but then again, u may have seen a vid i have not seen and seen clive/niko use both hands.
