To the contrary my friend. The stimulous is working and has stabalized job losses on the government sector and has stabalized the auto industry. And the Jan 2010 unemployment report shows a drop in the unemployment rate to 9.7% (lowest in almost a year).

When people lose their unemployment welfare it is no longer counted in the numbers. The U6 unemployment rate is at 17%. If computed the numbers the way they did during the Great Depression unemployment rate is already at 22%.
