On Ovals w/Gear change, top speed 367mph on the 1.8 mile straits. I ordered my GT with a carbon fiber frame and a fiberglass body (same as the Vet) thus matching the weight.

Both very nice cars, very close. I prefer the ZR1 but not by much, both have really nice V8 noises, performance and looks etc but I just have a 'thing' for Corvettes.

This ZR1 is a Geiger ZR1, right? That means its tuned. I've seen stock ZR1's on drag radials only run high 10's and this tuned ZR1 ran 12.02 so that MUST mean that the ZR1 driver sucks, not the ZR1 itself. Put drag radials on both the ZR1 and the GT and it would be a lot better race

@z28snakeeater Ford owns Mazda, and I am pretty sure the have Yamaha under their belt as well. If you want to talk about engine sharing, GM is the worst, the engines are swapped between all of the brands it owns. In fact, the zo6, the camaro, and the cadillac cts-v all have the same engine. Ford does not have a HD, they have a super duty, and Ford wins. Ford out sells you and Dodge, because they build longer lasting vehicles. Most of the older vehicles on the road are Ford's then Chevys.

A lot has changed in those 5 years. Ford could take the 800 Horsepower engine going in the next generation Super Snake and stomp the Zr1 with ease. The Ford GT was a monster for it's time.

@IanJamesMullins, the zr1 and gt stock will run close, BUT, in a real track race (lugna seca for example) the GT will run much faster track times then even a modded zr1. the GT is made for raceing with the mid mounted engine for better weaght balance. the zr1 will handle more like a buick and is made for straight line racing only.

@123abcpa What is that based off of exactly? Because track numbers for both cars at multiple world renowned tracks shows the ZR1 out performing the GT... Even the Z06 was running quicker lap times at Nürburgring... You think just because the engine is in the middle of the car it is a better performer? The lap times beg to differ... So does Top Gear. So does just about every other car eval show. Not to mention the price tags... but lets not even go there. Price aside the Z wins anyway.

END RESULT
GT won over all regardless if the GT missed 3rd gear on the second race so that speaks volumes. The GT missed 3rd gear on the second race and still won that race.
