The reason why most people hate it is because of the new defending system. I hated it so much too and turned it off for the first month, but then I had to learn to play with it when I started playing Ultimate Team and it turned out to be a great feature. Really makes the difference between good and bad players and now you only have yourself to blame a lot of the times conceding.
@Zethar I'll be honest and admit that I don't play Ultimate Team but that's probably because I don't want to waste more money on it due to so many other games that I would like to buy and play in the future. However, I do love career mode and I'm one of the 'noobs' who plays using legendary. Anyway, I play and beat all my mates using legendary defending and also beat people on Ultimate Team round my friends houses yet according to you if one doesn't get acquainted with tactical they are bad? mmk
@mcgot2good I guess you'll have to explain to me what legendary defending is then. Because, as I see it in Ultimate Team, people who cannot use tactical defending are mistiming both standing and sliding tackles and conceed goals because they can't keep wingers from crossing.
@Zethar sorry it's called legacy defending not legendary. however you can find it in game settings, just remember to scroll to the bottom and it'll be there. this will work for the full game as well as the demo seen in the video below this comment. to stop wingers crossing using tactical defending, sprint jockey them using both L2 and R2 simultaneously and it should place your defender in onside position to get his body in the way of any potential crosses

FIFA has UEFA too, it's called champions cup instead of league but you have to qualify and i'm pretty sure you can't get in it your first season you have finish top three in league depending on league

I love both PES and Fifa - Pes is difficult gameplay and more realistic gameplay with 360 degree passing and the ability to control two players at once, but Fifa is also funner in some respects so I might get that instead this year, plus I hate it when I get lagged out by dodgy gamers - It happens so much more in PES especially when you're playing someone in D1 and score a goal it's just frustrating and I hate playing Italians especially on it - they're the worst by far.
The one thing that has been bothering me all the time is how going up difficulty levels affect certain things. I mean I know that they have to make it harder but when Shaun Wright-Phillips is being outrun by a Southampton defender you know there is an issue. I understand they have to find a way to make it harder but if they make it so defenders outrun strikers then what is the point in everyone's stats? I love the FIFA games though, although I did throw my FIFA11 disc at the wall one night :-D
I'm a big fan of FIFA12 n its changes. But I dont like how they decreased the keepers reactions to long shots. It makes those Real Madrid users even cheaper. Also. The way the ball trickles into the corner at a snails pace is ridiculous! The keepers simply need to shuffle their feet before diving. N my only other gripe is an on going one. Why does manual switching go to a player other than the one nearest to the ball first!?! Surely thats a basic one to sort out EA. Other than that, I'm good :)

@IRISHMARKSMAN446 naw he's right. I've been LOSC Lille and Santos and I've been paired with Spain and Arsenal. If you are a 4-5 star team you get grouped together, which isn't fair to most people. When I'm Lille, I shouldn't be playing against Spain lol.
EA needs to allow us to block these cheap teams, let people who want to be Barca, Spain and Real play against each other, while we pick teams that aren't as powerful.

@ whoever made this video, after fifa has been released, how do you like the defense system now? I think its great how they made actually holding structure important and not just holding X or A down to take the ball. It makes def abit harder but now that I'm use to it (you most likely are now) i feel like i know how to defend and i like how they did it.
EA fucked up FIFA12 real bad! They made it this way so people play UT all the time and keep giving EA money all year long.
Playing offline is just frustrating to a breaking point..Career mode and all offline modes are dead! Its impossible to have fun playing FIFA anymore because its insanely difficult.
Sliding tackles are useless, quick 1-2 passes are a thing of the past unless your Barca or have 11 Neymars on your team..shooting on the turn is non existent.

I am not convinced with FIFA 12, looping passes, keepers getting away with goal kick s way outside the area, suspect impact engine, it just doesn't feel right like it used to, the AI plays a strange game to say the least, I just think it is nowhere near as good as all the reviews would have us all believe, much preffered 10 and world cup 10.
I love everything about it BUT I really think they overdid the whole "tactical defending" thing. They just made defending a big burden. What's next? In FIFA 14 do we have to tell the goalkeeper when to dive? It's just a game and game's aren't supposed to be realistic.
also you have to be more disciplined this year on both sides of the ball. you have to keep possession better and you cant just smash the b button to get the ball back. youre supposed to hem in the players and use the tackle button occasionally when the player is trapped. watch the barca and ac milan champions league game, ac milan played the exact defense youre supposed to play in the game. keep the players in front of you. i dont think gamers will like it but footballers will
i like the demo so much that im almost afraid to criticize it. I didnt get fifa 11 bc i when i played at my friends place i thought it seemed just like fifa 10. both of them feel way to much like an arcade game to me. i got bored of just smashing down B to get the ball, pace abusing to the other side of the pitch, then a little skill and 6 goals later the game ends. the game feels more realistic in terms of player size vs pitch size and player speed vs ball speed.
i hate the gameplay, the cpu doesnt let you even play, its to hard.... the ball seems more realistic... I like the modes and everything about the game. I hate the tatical defendiong, I like the regular defending from fifa 11.... EA please change the tatical defending and put the regular defending....... I hated this demo at first, but then i found out that you could change the tactical defending back to the normal defending like on fifa 11 and now i absolutely love this game :D the realism of it is awesome i love the attack and the goalies and when you have the CPU set on a higher difficulty it does present a challenge and they do actually score some nice goals which is pretty cool because its a bit more realistic that way.
Always gonna have haters...they're usually the ones after the arcade feel and you'll find they're not true football fans. This is the closest thing to real football by far!!
I hate the CPU goalies, they just suck and i hate CPU offense if you watch the offense on this vid for the CPU all they do is run outside the box to cross it, if it was real they wouldnt run out they would attack the box this also happens in the world cup games and its pitiful
Negatives: Tactical defending is awful, it makes the game soo slow paced, I would like to see an option so they can change the defending to what it is like on fifa 11 but more intelligent ie. marking and heading. One more point referees still make outrageous decision :S
I love the Skill moves, i dont know if it me but every player feels like they have no pace on them, and people falling over in the box and getting penalties when no contact has been made, but overall i think its great, weaver we hate it or like it EA are getting 45 quid off all of us
I have to say after playing it a couple of more times: it makes for å really good game.. you need to have patience in defense(and attack), and it becomes less artificial when you tackle on own timing i guess.. more buttons to concentrate on tho.. and Messi is finally as good as in real life!!
Changes are a good thing, but it seems like its hard to control the defending player, not like you did with the A button in 11(off and straight on the apposing player). In 12 they just follow.. I hope they can put in the function that the A/X butten had(while holding) on 11. I love a challenge so I think ill get anyways
I think 12 is so much better than 11. I just love it. Only things I don't like are too sensitive Player Impact Engine, and there are too many heel-passes and trick passes. This is too much, kinda unrealistic.
I like how they have improved the dribbling & skill moves.
I dislike that you cant call a 2nd defender to the ball like you could on fifa 11. They used to do a standing tackle, now all you can do with a second player is track them & contain them.
The tweak is shooting, i dunno what it is about but from the games i've played on the demo the shooting doesnt seem as good as it could be.
All in all the demo isn't that bad, game will take a bit of getting used to but im still going to buy it.
A lot of my mates are saying its shit but I think its great, ive played about 10 games so far and the sensitivity of the impact engine has only annoyed me twice so its not too bad, and I like the tactical defending, maybe the fact that I was so bad at defending on Fifa 11 means that I dont find it hard getting use to the new style of defending.
I like the new skills and shooting I live the new defending because defending is now fun. The only thing I don't like are the injuries and player impact engine they are a liitle buggy but thatbwill bebfixed I'm shore.

the mouvements are so smooth now and the shooting is great and u can get more chances to do acrobatic moves.also the bodies of the players looks very good and are better sized than fifa11,dribbles r much more realistic and a bit harder than fifa11, oh and the impact engine is really awesome even tho its still a lil bit buggy.tactical defending is fine to me (more realistic defending) and u still can change the defending back to fifa 11's style.

I like the change, I love the tactical dribbling and defeding.
I dislike the wind-up the shooter takes before shooting, not a huge deal.
The tweak should be that I feel like the dribbling could be a little smoother, maybe it's just me, but I feel like the players are taking long touches, and spending too much time on the ball.
In my opinion i think its really good, ive played the PES demo and thats not to bad either. You cannot make a decision on which is best by the demo, give them a good months playing time and then decide. Really impressed with fifa though, and its amazing impact engine. I ended up kicking gareth barry in the nuts, the tackle was a little mistimed i must admit :L
I like Fifa 12, however it is too damn difficult for me. I mean, I seriously struggle at Amateur and Semi-pro (but I win), but at Professional I really suck, and at WC and Legendary I am a total disaster. Maybe its just me, but tactical defending is difficult, tough I can be set to FIFA 11 style, I am gonna stick by it. I want the opponent's defense more weak.
your able to change back to how defending was in previous fifa, its call legacy defending in the demo when your in controller config page also feel like keepers are too easy to beat, like they dont get behind to ball properly
Tactical defending is the only thing i dont really like on fifa 12.. im not saying its bad, tho it seems very hard to use and is a big change but i think it will just take time for people to get use to it.

@ whoever made this video, after fifa has been released, how do you like the defense system now? I think its great how they made actually holding structure important and not just holding X or A down to take the ball. It makes def abit harder but now that I'm use to it (you most likely are now) i feel like i know how to defend and i like how they did it.

EA fucked up FIFA12 real bad! They made it this way so people play UT all the time and keep giving EA money all year long.
Playing offline is just frustrating to a breaking point..Career mode and all offline modes are dead! Its impossible to have fun playing FIFA anymore because its insanely difficult.
Sliding tackles are useless, quick 1-2 passes are a thing of the past unless your Barca or have 11 Neymars on your team..shooting on the turn is non existent.

on the actual build of the game and see if it changes your mind.
Because for the actual game they turned down the impact engine with bug fixes and the closed the gap of tactical defending dramatically.

I am not convinced with FIFA 12, looping passes, keepers getting away with goal kick s way outside the area, suspect impact engine, it just doesn't feel right like it used to, the AI plays a strange game to say the least, I just think it is nowhere near as good as all the reviews would have us all believe, much preffered 10 and world cup 10.

I love everything about it BUT I really think they overdid the whole "tactical defending" thing. They just made defending a big burden. What's next? In FIFA 14 do we have to tell the goalkeeper when to dive? It's just a game and game's aren't supposed to be realistic.

also you have to be more disciplined this year on both sides of the ball. you have to keep possession better and you cant just smash the b button to get the ball back. youre supposed to hem in the players and use the tackle button occasionally when the player is trapped. watch the barca and ac milan champions league game, ac milan played the exact defense youre supposed to play in the game. keep the players in front of you. i dont think gamers will like it but footballers will

i like the demo so much that im almost afraid to criticize it. I didnt get fifa 11 bc i when i played at my friends place i thought it seemed just like fifa 10. both of them feel way to much like an arcade game to me. i got bored of just smashing down B to get the ball, pace abusing to the other side of the pitch, then a little skill and 6 goals later the game ends. the game feels more realistic in terms of player size vs pitch size and player speed vs ball speed.

I hated this demo at first, but then i found out that you could change the tactical defending back to the normal defending like on fifa 11 and now i absolutely love this game :D the realism of it is awesome i love the attack and the goalies and when you have the CPU set on a higher difficulty it does present a challenge and they do actually score some nice goals which is pretty cool because its a bit more realistic that way.

Positive: Probably better graphics and passing.
Negatives: Tactical defending is awful, it makes the game soo slow paced, I would like to see an option so they can change the defending to what it is like on fifa 11 but more intelligent ie. marking and heading. One more point referees still make outrageous decision :S

I have to say after playing it a couple of more times: it makes for å really good game.. you need to have patience in defense(and attack), and it becomes less artificial when you tackle on own timing i guess.. more buttons to concentrate on tho.. and Messi is finally as good as in real life!!

Changes are a good thing, but it seems like its hard to control the defending player, not like you did with the A button in 11(off and straight on the apposing player). In 12 they just follow.. I hope they can put in the function that the A/X butten had(while holding) on 11. I love a challenge so I think ill get anyways

I like how they have improved the dribbling & skill moves.
I dislike that you cant call a 2nd defender to the ball like you could on fifa 11. They used to do a standing tackle, now all you can do with a second player is track them & contain them.
The tweak is shooting, i dunno what it is about but from the games i've played on the demo the shooting doesnt seem as good as it could be.
All in all the demo isn't that bad, game will take a bit of getting used to but im still going to buy it.

A lot of my mates are saying its shit but I think its great, ive played about 10 games so far and the sensitivity of the impact engine has only annoyed me twice so its not too bad, and I like the tactical defending, maybe the fact that I was so bad at defending on Fifa 11 means that I dont find it hard getting use to the new style of defending.

just tried fifa12 demo & seriously its fkn awesome!
the mouvements are so smooth now and the shooting is great and u can get more chances to do acrobatic moves.also the bodies of the players looks very good and are better sized than fifa11,dribbles r much more realistic and a bit harder than fifa11, oh and the impact engine is really awesome even tho its still a lil bit buggy.tactical defending is fine to me (more realistic defending) and u still can change the defending back to fifa 11's style.

I like the change, I love the tactical dribbling and defeding.
I dislike the wind-up the shooter takes before shooting, not a huge deal.
The tweak should be that I feel like the dribbling could be a little smoother, maybe it's just me, but I feel like the players are taking long touches, and spending too much time on the ball.

You cannot make a decision on which is best by the demo, give them a good months playing time and then decide. Really impressed with fifa though, and its amazing impact engine. I ended up kicking gareth barry in the nuts, the tackle was a little mistimed i must admit :L

I like Fifa 12, however it is too damn difficult for me. I mean, I seriously struggle at Amateur and Semi-pro (but I win), but at Professional I really suck, and at WC and Legendary I am a total disaster. Maybe its just me, but tactical defending is difficult, tough I can be set to FIFA 11 style, I am gonna stick by it. I want the opponent's defense more weak.
