Why must I see all Presidents the same? They were not. There is no similarity between JFK and GW or Obama. JFK actually served honorably in the US military. Clinton,GW & Obama clearly hate this country. Obama funneled billions to Unions through the GM bailout scam. JFK was assassinated for not going along, as Obama is. I agree with Damon on so much. But I really think I could teach him about a few things that are missing. I wish I knew how to contact him and wish that he wasn't such a celebrity. Maybe then he'd be willing to listen to a common man and learn.

A lotta countries outlawed slavery before the US. did. And the US were not the first to outlaw racial discrimination, or give women the right to vote, gay rights or worker's rights. There's not even health care!

Britain went along, becasue the formerly British colonies were rejecting slavery as quickly as it could. The US government has zero intention of providing anything for anyone,except more restrictions.There will be great suffering if this bill passes.Obama promised transparency and inclusion of everyone during this process. No I haven't read this particular book but I've heard enough from his speeches that he's given and heard enough readings from ths to understand his point of view. I do not even want to read this book. Why should i since i can understand his point of view when he wrote it and given his speeches on his book and other topics he can;t get over certain negative aspects of our countries history and not giving the whole perspective. He has a right to his opionin and so does everyone else.

From a very young age in the United States we are told lies about our history for the sake of nationalism and patriotism. People like Chomsky and Zinn keep the truth alive in an otherwise foggy world. By not knowing your history you are doomed to repeat it. So do i but that is a piece of the whole puzzle. We've made our mistakes but we move on. Zinn and tons of other authors have written great books on history and the all have their slant. Zinn has an obcession on the negative. Judging by the other countries in history I think we're doing pretty good. Look at the horrors other governments through out history. War, slavery, etc. etc. Soviet Union, Nazi, Japan, China, Africa, and the list goes on but I'll take this one as pretty damn good

It's a slippery slop, where is the line drawn on how much of your past you remember? It's based on Ideology, but the fact remains that the United States list of atrocities is long and you are not taught that in school growing up. There has to be some people that are welling to document and discuss those issues. Zinn does that in a manner that does not sugar coat or dumb down the reality that our country was built on slave labor and we gained our territory through native American genocide.

I've been taught all of those things all growing up in school. I don't forget any of it but there are things you can change and things you can't because they are history. We're not having auctions to sell slaves on the streets anymore for example because we fixed that mistake. I would just like a middle of the road discussion on our history instead of people slanting it one way or another. History is what it is never forget but don't dwell on it and there has been good and bad in history.

We still use slave labor, particularly if you buy goods sold at Wal-Mart, but no need to go into that. The bottom line is that in order for 308 million people to never forget their history there has to be some scholars willing to dwell on that history.

You need to do some of your own research and go talk to thousands of Walmart workers as I have. Do they have the greatest job? No, but they are doing better than they would if there was no Wal Mart or god forbid were forced into a union. No one ever said the US was perfect, but apparently millions who risked their lives to come here think it is worth it .The only whiners are the lazy college kids who know nothing except what they hear from celebrities.
