  • mean hits!! good trys!!! ch ch cheeeeeehhhhhuuuuu!!!!! shot Tonga

  • Well done to our Pacific Brothers

  • well done polynesia , dat fullback was a beast whooooooooo

  • Mean.

  • Sheesh my god some of those Tongan tackles were a little late lol. God they hit hard and that full back was a mad man. Most wins come from good forward play and giving the backs space at the back. Whats funny is that this Tongan lot seem more fit and more lithe than recent incarnations forwards wise. Their Loosies in this game looked awesome!

  • This was back in the AMATEUR days aka the days when anybody could beat anybody durrr lol.

  • ESHAYZ TONGA !!! CHEEEHHOOOOOO !!!

PACIFIC PRIDE BABY ! ONELOVE !

  • tonga aldae! woohoo to samoa! sorry we beat you to it! Lolss

  • BULLKRAB FIJI HAVNT BEAT AUZZIE.lolz TONGA 1st dn SAMOA yestrdae.lolz..U WISH DUDE..KEEP DREAMG

  • Samoa smashed ozzy!!2011 choo hooo!

  • Valita Maake was the man why can't we have anyone tackle like that anymore? I remember growing up watching him and he was tackling machine no one can ever duplicate him.

  • Why is this in black and white??? it's 1973!

  • Fiji, Tonga and Samoa now all have wins over Australia. Who's next? One day the All Blacks will fall the one of these great Pacific Nations

  • @RuFFNuTTProductionz FIJI WON AGAINST AUSTRALIA? WHEN?

  • @bOcaGe312 quite a while ago, they beat them twice in fact.

  • @RuFFNuTTProductionz WOW THATS AMAZING. TWICE YOU SAY? DAMN MUCH LOVE TO TONGA FIJI AND OF COURSE SAMOA!

  • 1973 Tonga beats Australia 16 - 11

    2011 Manu Samoa beats Australia 32 - 23

Very proud of our pacific nations.

  • @Tonaye123 1973 - 2011, that's two victories over a 38 year period, don't get too excited...

    Just sayin'.

  • @taweraster It's not about the number of victories. If you consider the population of pacific islands such as Samoa and Tonga, they are less than 200,000 people. Pacific societies lack in financial areas and facilities, therefore it is a struggle for them when competing against larger and more wealthy nations such as New Zealand and Australia. we cannot guarantee that we will win, and most of the time we don't, but victories such as these are proud moments for our pacific people. - Peace

  • @Tonaye123 Yes the Pacific teams (excluding New Zealand) do get the worst treatment BUT all of the Samoan Players that beat the Wobblies play there Rugby in Europe, in the wealthiest leagues in the World.

The only time that your argument would be valid was if the whole team played all of there Rugby in Samoa.

  • @taweraster No. Not all the players play in Europe. Although you are correct that a majority of them play overseas, the point i am trying to get through is that defeating a prime team such as Australia (2nd ranked in IRB) is very rare. Given the circumstances that these Pacific teams, it becomes a special moment in history. It doesn't matter if Pacific nations have only beaten Australia twice, the fact of the matter is that they have achieved it.

  • This game saved Rugby Union in Australia.

  • THANX HEAPS Herc2770

  • THUMBS UP, if you think this is the best video out of all the polynesian videos on youtube.

This is what you call real Tongans. No Wannabe gangsters, No Hate, No Poofters.

These are what you call real fucken men....

AND IM A SAMOAN....Mate maa Tonga

  • QUESTION: WHATS THE NAME OF THIS SONG?

  • @laskara100

    When we were kings

  • In 1975, 2nd test at Eden Park, Maori all blacks broke Valita's arm during the game because he was doing a lot of damage. Ask Maori prop kent lambert, who was stretchered out of the game. Tonga vs Samoa in Nuku'alofa, 1980's, Lolani Koko was aiming for a try at the corner but never reached the ground because he was hit hard that he landed on the sideline concussed, he was stretchered out with broken ribs and cheekbone and was taken straight to the hospital. I wonder if they filmed these games!

  • Valita Ma'ake #15 and this legendary team will always be remembered. The Tonga rugby union always asked valita to take it easy on the local players as they needed them for the national "ikale tahi team".He would knock anyone in the way, mean big hits. MATE MA'A TONGA!

  • No. 15 is the man of the match. Very good and smart player the way he mark his apposite number. Most of his tackles created opportunity for Tonga like the last try.

  • Valita Ma'ake is actually Toutai Kefu's uncle, Toutai's mom (neomai ma'ake kefu) is Valita's first cousin.RIP VALITA

  • Biggest ups to this Tonga team. Good lucc in da rwc2011. Alofa Mai Samoa

  • LMFAO THAT KICK AT 1:06

  • Beautiful victory, I never knew about this. Great job Tonga Legends, I'm going to tell my children about this, so it will not be forgotten.

  • Valita Ma'ake Number 15, the most fearful tackle of his time in his powerful Tackle, you very very stupid if you run straight to him . Anyway Tongan win for the whole of Pacific Island Rest In Peace Valita Ma'ake.

  • Im Samoan. All I gotta say is WOW lol This has to be the best upset win of all time. Samoa never did or never will beat the Wallabies lol now thumbs up lol

  • @vaiala83 NOW THEY DID 32-23. TO ME I THINK THEY HAVE RESTORED SOME CREDIBILITY AFTER A DISAPOINTING 07 WC. NOW THEY HAVE TO KEEP GOING AND DO THE SAME COME SEPTEMBER.

  • R.i.p valita maake #15

  • Malie tonga!! Proud to be Tongan but all love and respect to all pacific nations!! Much ofas..

  • Love the tackles! Never underestimate the might of the small pacific nations! Big Ups to this Tongan squad!

Manu Samoa is yet to beat a top tier side like Australia, i wish one day! Samoa have beaten Wales but they are not top 5. Tonga is the only pacific island team to beat a top tier team e.g. Aus, NZ, England, France and SA! Absolutely Awesome effort!

  • My uncle SUPI MAILEI was the youngest(16 years old) and was part of this 73' Legends team, I don't think he played though but he still was one of the greatest!

  • the legends

  • "That was an almighty tackle." :)

  • First time I have ever heard or seen this and it made me proud...and Im Samoan lol

  • First time I have ever heard or seen this and it made me proud...and Im Samoan lol

  • this was back when noone had funding or facilities..but now look at these tier one nations have pulled away because of those reasons...there's noting now that the IRB can do to stop the growth of the island nations as more and more clubs seek out the island nations,. Keep your dual eligibility rule, theres pretty much no rugby team in the world that doesnt have an island name in it...

  • Can i ask ive been wondering wats teh song in the BACKGROUND???i love et

  • when we believe in things we can do it ! the small island of tonga is a true Kingdom !! anythings possible ! :)

  • I cant believe these players they are awesome!! Go Tonga!!

  • What a legend that Valita is. Huge hits. This 1973 team should never be forgotten. They should have lakalaka written in their honour lol.... and I'm a samoan lol Hope all pacific teams do well this year at the world cup (especially the manu)

  • samiu latu goes to my church

  • all tongan still proud of you all the 1973 Team that beats Australia..when we will re-wirte this history??

  • All the best to Fiji, Samoa and Tonga at the rugby world cup this year in NZ. I'm rooting for Tonga of course but will be happy to see Fiji and Samoa do good as well.

  • bro that was gangster lol

im samoan and sometimes dont get along with tongans (lol) but gotta give props were props are due!! that fullback was just gangster!! mean game!!

  • They look skinny ? lol

  • RIP Big Sione Mafi Tonga's Greatest Rugby player

  • valita is the man!! those tackles were AWESOME!!

  • Wonderful effort by Tonga. I hope Tonga - Fiji and Samoa all do well in NZ.They're all very capable and just need to 'Free' the Spirit.

  • R.I.P Sione Mafi..may your soul rest in eternal peace!

Lopeti Finau coached the Tongan side in 1973 :D

  • @dondutchme OH THNKZ! :)

  • Who coached the tongan side??

  • Valita Ma'ake i heard his name from the older folks growing up in Tonga but now i know he was amazing, he's my hero. We can do it, we are small but we can do it, we just need to trust ourselves.

  • What a Lineage...

  • Probably the biggest day in Tongan sport, pity many of their people would now rather play for Australia or Bew Zealand.Wonder what their 90s teams would have been like if Lomu had plaued for Tonga???

  • this is funny man atleast i can say samoa are the sevens champs lol

  • madlinemen sorry but i thought most ov these boyz were from Hihifo

  • Number 15 reminds me of Anthony tuitavake on defence

  • Best tongan victory ever

  • Good on you Tonga... Ofa Lahi atu

  • im fijian but this stuff kinda makes me happy just watching - malie tonga!!! hope there will be some major upsets next yr in nz...

  • wow vaalita makes brian lima like nothing

  • Is that John Hipwell at 9? Looks like him, yet my records show him only in the Sydney test which Oz won.

  • islanders are dominating rugby union and rugby league..thats wus up

  • most of the Tongan players were from the inside most worked for the police force in tonga..

  • Nae ngata pe vainga a Fakahau ihe 1983

  • @keisarinahafoka, Fakahau Valu went onto captain the Tongan Team in the inaugural Rugby World Cup in 1987 in NZ, his last match for Tonga was against Ireland 3rd of June 1987 in Brisbane, Ireland won 32-9.

  • @tapwi781 I believe Valu somewhat became the most hated man in Fiji when he scored the winning try in the gold medal match against Fiji in the 1979 South Pacific Games in Suva

  • @keisarinahafoka Malo lelei Tonga, I'm Samoan but this is very impressive of Tonga to take Australia in a remarkable performance. Didn't know about this but our Pacific Island Teams should learn from this performance.

  • choo hoo my tonga brotherz from the isle of Samoa - what a memorable game.. are any of those guys still around - i wonder if they seen that game, but that surname Latu - dam what a proud name, and Tonga is a proud nation - One love - Polynesian making a difference in a big big world.

  • Valita Ma'ake is a legend in Tonga with his bone crushing tackles through out his career with the Tonga National Team.

  • Wow. I grew up hearing these legends names. I remember pretending to be Valita in school during lunch rugby with a stick as the rugby ball :) Thanks for the upload and God bless these guys and their families. 'Ofa ki Tonga!

  • SIONE MAFI IS AWESOME!!

  • Koe taimi eni ne tamate tangata ai a Valita Maaan

  • what a tackle (2:38). my uncle used to play for Fiji and he says that they used to call them the Tongan torpedoes. And after watching that tackle....now i know why.

  • There have been a few upsets for the island nations. Tonga beating OZ, almost beating Sth Africa in 07RWC, Samoa beating Wales acouple of times, Fiji beating Wales and almost beating Sth Africa in 07RWC. One of these 3 have beaten France. Then theres the NZ Maori who have beaten the British Lions and drew with Sth Africa (ref cheated handing Sth Africa a draw). Even the smaller Cook Islands have beaten Italy.

  • offt dis is one of the best games i have seen sorry bwt iht hahaha. . . lovin' iht MATE MA'A TONGA

  • TOngan vs Australia

  • awesome game, history made here!

  • this game is legendary Tongan power... These guys would have been old school Pacififc Islanders humble and let their work do the talking. I'm a proud Samoan the old folk would not be proud of the brothers bad mouthing each other like you guys are doing. You aren't fucking animals so pull your heads in and have some class.

  • @bombertheelephant Yeah your very right!! I get a real chill when Tongans and Samoans argue and do all that talkin smack and gang stuff... cuz its SCARY!! hehe Im a half-caste tongan btw... and I also believe that these players were more humble and down to earth than the poly-punks that play nowadays....When watching rugby or any sport I go for whatever Polynesian team is doing great. Whether it be Tonga or Samoa or whoever.

  • rip in peace valita .i remember the tongan rugby board try to talk to valita please please take it easy on killing most off the best local player in tonga because they need them to play for tonga in the ikale tahi ha!ha! he hit to kill and everybody fear to play again ,he is the real hit man,ask wallabies player, maori all black player ...etc

  • RIP Uncle Valita,

the rumor was true at the time he was playing all the teams feared coming to play against Tonga because they herd he hit to the death...

  • Valita Ma'ake, damn what a hitman! He would smoke alot of todays players thats for sure.lol.

  • they're bettr den todays tongan rugby team. i stio love our team tho

  • This isn't the biggest upset, this is what it should be! Australia and New Zealand would be nothing without the Pacific Island Nations. I'm Samoan and so over the moon watching this. I just wish Tonga had 1st pick at their players as well as Samoa and Fiji.

  • wats the song calld ov dis video

  • Don't count your eggs soon, Pacific Islander Rugby is increasing in force. Last World Cup Tonga nearly beat South Africa, Fiji showed it's flare, Samoa had a year off, so you wait, time will tell.

  • @tapwi781 Oh hii TAPWI781 :) I wondered, who coached the TONGA side ?? When they won this?

  • @tapwi781 Amen Brother!
