Because two of the most popular ones, the 'two-step' and the 'picking up change' one or whatever it's called weren't originally hardcore dances. The 'two-step' is originally a Ska dance called the Skank. And the other one was originally a dance to punk music. Sometimes to original REAL hardcore music. Not what people call hardcore these days.
