@chemicallightbulb why not? We made a film with some up-and-comings and they're starring so give them the star treatment. It was Wayne's first time acting so I think that's a very deserved credit ^_^
@Vulgarappetite fair enough, everyone is entitled to their opinion. Personally I disagree. I think Matthew did exceptionally well with such an extravagant character. I think it's a little unfair to pin the failure of any film on such a young actor.
oh yeah, re: the beach sound. I had a shoot on a beach once, the wind and waves can be a real bugger if you are shooting mid-range, as you were and (I'm guessing) getting the sound with a muffled boom mic. In that circumstance, without radio mics, I would suggest filming the same scene a few more times and not worry if the boom is in shot, just to get better location sound. At that distance from the actors, a dub might also be an option but, as I'm sure you know, you want to avoid that!
Some ham acting, but nothing a few retakes couldn't have fixed (time is always a killer) Most of the intro fight worked pretty well and was well shot. A would've re-choreographed some of the valkyrie movement, possibly shortened or extended some shots of her but mostly she was great and very creepy. The kid-demon, again, was pretty cool. Over-all a few good bits of dialogue/monologue, some great shots, good locations and enough interesting cinematography to make this a thumbs up!
Impressive. Just a couple of really minor things, first the swordplay is a little clunky at times, but not so much that you would notice unless your very proficient with swords yourself, and the digital blood hit at 4:57 moves a little jerky and fades like a transition, but again that's nothing major, and I know how hard digital blood hits are to do. All I'd change is maybe a few frames of blood during the opening fight here and there, other than that, everything else 10/10.
@SWstuntcorps seconded on Telf's thanks there, cheers! You're right about the blood like. but it gives a kind of comic-bookish feel in a way methinks.
Sorry folks! I though I was asking for t-shirts when I put the crew in the application! Big shout out to the sound guys: Garry Allsopp, Andrew Allsopp and Anita Sainsbury. Of course, we also need to mention our brilliant task-master, AD Bob Bagley!
well done lad, does the North East proud. Only constructive criticism and this is it, sound lets it down in penultimate scene (on beach) but I didn't really care as I loved the story! Really well done. Crackin' actors and a canny film ;)
nice vid :) that is all :)

As amy is sitting next to me I had better say how wonderful this short film is. In fact, she was probably the best performer in the film.

@ScottishVagabond Or conveniently crop the boom mic out with some extreme close-ups!
