Oh wow, this is amazing! I was just in tears from the pain before I found this video and after doing this I feel infinitely better! The pain/tightness isn't entirely gone, but I might be able to get some sleep now. Thank you so much!
I happened upon this video a couple of months ago. I was having severe pain caused in my case from clenching my teeth unconsciously during the day and grinding my teeth at night. Before digging out my dreaded bite plate for night wear I began this routine daily and it really cured the problem. Ultimately I began using the bite plate at night as extra insurance. But even when I don't I have little problem as I do your excercises mostly evening or in bed before sleep. Thank you so very much.
@weesophz93 It's not a frequent reaction, but many of these points also affect the lymphatic system, and the sinus system in the head. That means they can affect your sense of balance if the inner ear and the fluid in there reacts to changes in the pressure.
@massagebyheatherw Thank you for this video ... how often would you suggest doing this exercise ? because I feel like i need to do this 4x day or more at this point
I thought it was just me... but I did feel slightly warm and fuzzy. But it did help a little ... i'm very tender right now ... so I think i am just stressed to the point where I am worried to do more damage to the area
Hello, I hope you can help me. My wife had a stroke at her brainstem 11 years ago. She has lock jaw. She is only able to open her mouth a little. When she tries to open her mouth there is only a 1/8 gap. I would like to know what muscle to my Sarge or what pressure point to use to help her release her jaw. If you can help me or know anyone that can I would be grateful.
Thank you so much for the helpful information. My TMJ pain has been horrible the past week and this was the only thing that seemed to help! You are amazing. Wish you were closer to get a massage for my fibromyalgia pain too!
Amazing video, thank you so much for posting it. I have had TMJ for 5 years now and nobody has been able to offer any treatment for it that has worked. I was interested in the Acupressure Meridian you mentioned in a lower post, the "Small Intestines Meridian". I have been having gastro-intenstinal for over a month now and was wondering if this is all connected to the bruxism/TMJ disorder, a further on effect of my TMJ. THANKS AGAIN, Ck
@MegaChadK The acupressure points relate to organs, but not always in a strict, Western medicine sort of way. It's more an associate with a number of characteristics traditional Chinese Medicine associates with the organ, so it's hard to say how connected it is. However, great news that it's helped with the TMJ. Internal massage of the jaw muscles with the fingers will also help.
I'm so glad that I found this! I have been up all night, and after watching and doing this, I am already feeling a difference! I may sleep tonight! Thank you!
Thank you so much for the video and instructions! My jaw has been very sore for the last week, but using the acupressure points has helped. It does hurt, especially at the top of and in front of the ear, but there is is a clear difference.
This was very informative. I love how you repeated the points several times. You are a wonderful teacher. I suffer with TMJ and I am starting this now. Thank you for such a wonderful video. God bless!!
@graceasher Thank you! I use these points on people in sessions all the time, and direct them to this video so they can use them on their own. I hope it continues to help with your TMJ syndrome, Grace.
This seams to help. I have just tried each of these points for just over 30 seconds each. It was a painful experience, though I appear to have some relief. I usually have difficulty pronouncing words that require a wide open mouth and immediately after the exercise I had less difficulty. I will keep trying this exercise.
@xmusicxgirlx96 I'd love to hear how it went. Sometimes it takes a couple sets of these for several days in a row to feel a huge improvement. I usually suggest people do it twice a day for five days to see if it makes a measurable difference in pain/discomfort.
Wow! I did these moves and found that the 2nd point you mentioned, the "nub" by the ear, was REALLY tender. What exactly is this point, and why would it have been so tender? I found the tenderness was relieved after pressing in for a few minutes.
@haileysheets - That point is on the Small Intestines Acupressure Meridian. It's SI 19 and one translation for it is Auditory Palace. It's helpful for many ear problems - tinnitis, hearing loss, inflammation in the area. It's also good for motor problems/functional issues of the mandibular joint. It's usually a point that's very tender - there are a lot of fascial structures and tendon attachments in that area that we use constantly and pressure in the area feels tender.
Thanks Heather. This really made a huge difference!!!
